I bought this Taiwan made bandsaw for 25 bucks this morning, it works, but I'd like to slow it down for metal. Is it as simple as swapping out the pulleys? Does it matter which pulley of the two? Here's a couple pics

You will likely need a jackshaft to be able to get the drive ratios to a point where the bandsaw wheels will turn slow enough. A blade speed of 125-200 linear feet per minute at the teeth will work fine for most things. If you do not know about the pulleys, you will need to do some reading about gearing ratios to get a good grasp on it. Something like below. Motor turns jackshaft to produce lower output speed. Jackshaft turns saw to produce even lower speed.

Old furnace blower fans are a good source of larger diameter pulleys. Bearings for jackshaft would be called pillow block bearings. All parts available on Amazon.

Right on !

It will be difficult (probably impossible) to just change the 2 pulleys and com up that that slow of a speed. That is why you need a jackshaft and a second belt and set of pulleys.

Once you have an idea of pulley diameters, shop eBay or look for surplus places online.

If you have a free riding lawn mower transmission or trans axle that could be adapted here.
