Oh Dear GOD, your Porsche thread is an amazing soon to be featured on the big screen comedy!!!! Okay I will start at the beginning of this thread now and try not to put any nails through my fingers tomorrow while I finish trimming out all of the windows due to exhaustion. Keep going for the love of that hot mess you have in the garage. We have to see where it ends up.

My parents Recently built a house in their hometown, Jalostotitlan.

My parents and wife are from Capilla de Gpe, between Arandas and Tepatitlan. I have sime friends from Jalos but Im such an antisocial being. I would rather be diaharretic than drnking alcohol on the street listening to 6 bands at the same time while some dancing nuts kick me in back. [emoji38]

I had to laugh out loud (ok, so might been Turettes) several times in this thread. The saga is almost painful at times, but your wit makes every page truly entertaining. Your writing in this and the Porsche thread is easily the best I've ever encountered in a forum. Every paragraph prickles with irony and innuendo in a most delightful way. (Apologies, Mary Poppins).
I finished a 10K sq/ft commercial build (my business build) 2 yrs back and your trial here makes mine feel like a cakewalk. I almost cried seeing what became of the vertical garden. To see the last month's progress is a real testament to your perseverance, and pocketbook! Because my shop was featured a while back, and you have referred to yourself as "an attention *****", do we need to establish some kind of secret virtual handshake?

Haha, I am an attention ***** but not in the Kardashian way, I actually am very shy and don't like to be noticed. Here I apply the give a man a mask and he will show you his true face... the beauty of the internetz.
About that virtual handshake, since you also got featured we should make an association of features instead. But I have to tell you, since this is the second time the thread gets featured, this gives me more featuredpawa, so I shall be President of the association. If polexican is barely right and the zombielypse waits another 2 years, I could actually finish and start doing something to the garage, potentially ( I still don't know why ) the thread could be featured a third time. This could give me enough featuredpawa to install a Dictatorship making all you pawaless.

Holy ****, that only took 3 hours to read this whole thing!
At first I was stunned
- at the design, then I was pissed - at the neighbor, then I was discouraged
- at all the set backs, and now I'm happy
- for your soon to be moving in!
Now whenever I hear the term, "The further I go, the behinder I get" I'll instantly think of this thread!!

Just found your build featured on the front page. Congrats. I'm still on page one but had to comment. Absolutely love the design and layout of your home.
Looks and sounds like this will be an interesting ride so off to page one to read your saga.

It helps when you laugh instead of cry but I usually would wake up at night and start thinking about it till it was time to get off bed. I will age with some nasty eye bags.

I have not posted any updates because right now the only things happening are paint and carpentry work.
However today I went and measured for position of sinks and mixers, since this was my "idea" contractor wanted me to have full responsibility over position
I mocked everything up and drew lines on the holes to be cut.
The nice detail on the behind the spouts will be covered by the mirrors. I'm working on my zen to forget it, I must live with a hole that I can't see but I know its there. I think I will be fine, I don't think all day about my ******* and its a similar situation, just hairy.

I just went there and Pointed at all the stuff I didn't like, like how the ceiling is not flat, the stairs are not well finished, doors installed on the wrong side, other stuff that we planned that they didn't do and now its impossible because it would take triple the time to re-do them.
And you know what... I do have perfection OCD. But I also have a patience limit, and right now my patience or illusion to live there is greater than my ability to maintain a quality level.
So I don't care any more. I just want to live there and I will live with what I can't fix and I will fix what I can or learn how to do it and make it horrible, but horrible by my at least.

I have nothing great to show you as the news of yesterday still dominate all the wood in this house. Don't worry you will get that joke later.
This is my attempt at jambless doors.
The one on the left is for the bathroom ( this door does have jambs/frame as you can see, but should be blended to the walls kinda like EZ-Jamb ).
The on the right is the access door, which is white on the inside and wood on the outside. ( no jambs or frame at all, this will leave a tiny gap on both sides. I am still thinking on a solution to this but my bet is on a strip of felp)

And this is a shot from the bedroom in front aiming to previous pictures one.
All doors are hinged from top/bottom, doors are almost 3" thick and they would hit the walls as opening so we moved the hinges inward, we lost a bit of opening space but meh.
Now onto the master bedroom door.
The way we enter this room has changed like 5 times since the beginning of the build
2 big doors, 1 big door, a sliding door, no door at all, etc.
We opted for a "hidden" sliding door.
and I say "hidden" because you would have to be dumb to not think there is a door, and second they could have at least tried to use matching wood
I have a problem. Since this is a "hidden" door, any type of handle will intrude with the effect ( open to suggestions here ). The lock can be hidden easily but we need something to pull it.
Front door is still on finishing touches, I don't like the way the wood is laid or their great idea of color mixing but one of those things that I just want to forget, stop caring and just live there, not particular order.
And FINALLY, FINAAAAAAAAAAALLY!!!!!!! Garage door work started.
We are using a liftmaster 8500 but the guys doing the install told me that it may not last long and I should buy an industrial grade opener. Thoughts?

Buuuutttttt, they made a mess of that ledge near the top of the opening didn't they?

But I'm like you slightly OCD until someone really pushes my buttons, them I'm overly OCD... And to have that wood not matching would see me trying to tear somebody a new, well, fundamental orifice.... (if you get my drift).

The garage opener concern may be the weight difference of the heavy steel frame you have and a "normal" light gauge steel garage door. You may want to do some estimating on the weight on your door and Liftmaster's load rating for the 8500.
