I had an "Industrial Air" brand compressor of similar configuration. Like Magna Force it was made by Coleman/Powermate/Sandborn. It was a residential / hobby level so don't expect to pass it down to your kids. Occasional use for lower CFM requirement jobs. Much better than an oilless or direct drive compressor.
My compressor was the same size upright, be aware that it is VERY top heavy and can easily get away from you when trying to move it around. I got mine free less motor after the PO dropped it destroying the handle and regulator. I had a spare motor and used it for about 2 years before giving it to one of my son's friends.
For your stated use it will probably work well.
IIRC, Powermate has their parts manuals online for download.
What do you have now? I'm in the market for a compressor as well mainly for removing wheel lugs, air ratcheting. I was looking at a 30 gal Husky belt driven since my garage is so small and can't fit a 60 gal or larger. Also don't want to hire an electrician to add 230v.
For what you need a 2-3hp belt driven compressor should be fine. I used a CH 2hp 20gal horizontal tank unit for 35 years until the tank rusted out. Since I got a blast cabinet I upgraded to a Emglo 2 stage compressor. I still have a CH 27 gal portable upright, it takes about 5 minutes to fill up to 135psi. The Emglo takes about a minute to 175psi but it has a small tank.
An upright take doesn't take up a lot of floor space but if you have to move the compressor around often I would opt for a horizontal tank.
OP where did you saw this?
Theisens farm store in Iowa. Regular price is $399
Which Thiesen's? If you're around the Des Moines area then you should check out Bob's Tools on Army Post Rd. They sell Puma compressors. Menards carries Sanborn. Northern Tool has a decent collection and I think I remember seeing Quincy at Bomgaar's.
I'm up by Waterloo, I think i saw this in Marhsalltown
