Does anyone sell 6 point obstruction wrenches?

I am looking for metric obstruction wrenches (half-moon and S wrenches) in 6 point. I have a few sets in 12 point but don’t see anything for sale in 6 point. I have seen a few vintage 6 point obstruction wrenches on Ebay over the years but they seem very rare and are not metric.

They would sell next to zero of them. If you have an obstruction, then you already are in a tight spot. To then cut the number of angles you can put the wrench on the fastener in half (12pt to 6 pt) would make the wrench almost unusable.

I've seen some significant offset wrenches in 6-point, like the Ford wrench below... But not the S or half-moon shapes in 6-point. :dunno:

Might be OK in a ratcheting moon wrench.About the only six point wrenches I'd even consider owning are the new SK ratcheting but with no reverse lever....those are ruled out too.
Six point anything is far more hype than reality. It became a "big deal' when fine tooth ratchets appeared. The hype was(is) quite profitable.
"Use these much much much much stronger six point with that new 60 tooth ratchet"
"Never ever ever round a nut again !"

I really don't think it's hype. I love my 6 point stuff and reach for it any day over a 12 point. I find it so much better for not rounding when working on old stuff. I have an awkward gearbox to unbolt on one truck i own and always resort to the obstruction wrenches. They are literally a life saver. I borrowd a set of these once:

which are quite a bit thicker than most wrenches, so pretty sure for what I want a 6 point would be fantastic.

Thats interesting. Out of interest does anyone make a nice set of offset 6 point?

I only have straight 6 point and not offset.

Another option would be the combo wrenches with the swivel-socket end, or something with fixed ends like this:

... Although at that point, you might as well stop looking for "wrenches" and just use a socket on a breaker bar.

I agree that sometimes a 6 point is needed, but the chances of being able to line up a 6 point obstruction wrench are pretty slim.

All you need to do is make your double-ended obstruction wrench have the second end clocked 1/12th of a turn rotated from the first. If you can line up a 12-point, then one of the two ends of that 6-point wrench would also fit.

I think it's a special use case- a tool for removing obstructed fasteners that are damaged, rounded, or stuck solid. A 12-point would probably be better once it was broken loose, but I can see an occasional time when a 6-point could conceivably be useful.

^ this.

what's the point?
as he said, you're using an obstruction wrench because you've got limited clearance. why make the task more difficult by using a 6-point?

pure speculation on my part, but my gut tells me the first part of bcradio's reply gets to the crux of it: how many would they sell? you're already talking about an oddball specialty item - "obstruction wrench" - why would you want to tool up an assembly line to make an even more odd oddball?
simple economics says it's a non-starter.

It appears the thread creator would buy one. That makes 1 which is next to 0.
I would also buy one. That makes 2. It also makes your comment incorrect as 2 is not next to zero, it is next to 1 and 3.

Keep trying. Your comments humor me the more i read them
