I am now Edd China and my buddy is now Mike Brewer.

Drug in a 2006 Taurus with a locked up 12v engine (how does this happen?) and a subframe with newer engine and trans and am about to put the two together.

Also learning the intricacies of putting a vacuum advance distributor back on a '72 Super Beetle that doesn't seem to like the 009 electric distributor.

Good day, really.

I had to disassemble IR 2135 qti impact wrench to parts, because it was so weak for working. Cause of the failure was the lack of lubrication

So the vanes and bearings are worn out. and now it's waiting new parts.

I put together a welding cart for my cheapie flux core welder. Threw my oxy/acetylene bottles on there too, now they're out of the way. More room on the bench for other junk!!

Also, was plowing the driveway with my Arctic Cat 500 4x4 and snapped the winch cable... Spooled out the whole length of cable, cut the kinked/frayed section off on and reinstalled the hook. Went from 40ft of cable to about 15... Ordered a synthetic rope, but the short cable will be fine for now.

Replaced the cracked/leaking coolant elbows on my grand daughters 2000 Pontiac Grand Prix 3.8. I found the leak using my pressure tester then took it to my sons house to pressure wash the engine (it was a mess). Anti freeze started dripping from the back of the engine, I though the head gasket was gone too. It turns out that my son's driveway had enough of a slope that the anti freeze leaking at the elbow traveled to the rear of the engine before dripping off instead of the front. I was very relieved when I realized what had happened.
Somewhere in it's life stopleak had been used and the elbows were stuck with a glue like substance. Replaced the cheap cracked (previously replaced by some PO) plastic "made in China" elbows with metal ones. No leaks now!

More sanding of parts for the baby gate. Also got sick of tripping over the air hose my brad nailer was connected to so I got sidetracked off of working on the gate and made the face plate & mounting plate for the hose reel and got all of that installed. I'm not really impressed with how the reel works when mounted sideways like this so I might rig up some framing under the bench to hang it off the bottom of the bench frame.

built a swage block stand. I still have to add some angle iron to the corners to hold the block in spot. I can be flipped up vertical as well.

Washed/cleaned the camaro & truck. Driver's side floor was a bit damp in the truck. Water standing under the carpet. Searched, found, & sealed the leak.

Over the last few days, I:
cleaned up the crud / rust / flakey paint from a really good condition Craftsman 5160 (Rock Island 571, I think, rebadged)
Realized I'd just released a heck of a lot of lead paint dust into the garage, just a couple months after the doctor said my boy had more lead in him than was OK
Spent two nights sweeping, mopping & wiping down the garage with a respirator on.

Just a reminder: lead paint is no joke, especially with kids around. Respirator & wet sand, be careful with the trash, dont' be a ******* and wire-wheel it.

Activity in the BillyBob Shop pretty much flatlined after the first of the year. I haven't been doing much except cleanup. Yesterday was more of the same with the addition of some unproductive tinkering with my broken Jeep door. The one item of note was the unpacking and inspection of a newly obtained treasure., a positraction center chunk for the Deerslayer's rear axle. The axle is a conventional differential from a 1957 Chevy car with 3.36 gearing. I don't romp-n-stomp much but, when I do, the Deerslayer goes smartly down the road with one tire on fire. This 1957 positraction center section has been fitted with a 3.08 ring and pinion, too high for the owner's taste in the '62 Chevy 409 car it was built for. It is well suited, however, for Deerslayer.

They turned out pretty good. Think I'm going for "al natural" look with the metal. Thought about blueing maybe polished, don't know yet.

The old wood desk I picked up for free off craig's list had a great 1-1/4 inch thick chunk of plywood for the top. There are very few voids in the lamination, that's got to be big money plywood. Anyway I cut it up and glued it back together.

Used my belt sander to plan it down, cause I don't have a planer. :dunno: Rounded over the corners and ran my palm sander over the whole thing. I'm liking the semi rough feeling of using a 36 grit belt sanding followed by 90 grit palm sanding. Not smooth but has some texture.

Yea you can tell it's got some dips and rolling surfaces, but then I don't have a planer. I figure this allows me to claim artisan status for the piece.
Free range, rough hewn, hand planed artisan plywood top. :pimpflash

Time on parts website organizing this springs car repairs. Between normal maintenance and upgrades, this might last all summer. Trying to keep this car as long as possible to avoid something new or payments.

Used some Teflon tape up after unpacking ten new male Lincoln air couplers and immediately used 5 to get some of my less used air tools with permanent couplers installed. Oddly, I've had a full box of the more expensive female couplers available for a long time, but ran out of the male and finally broke down and ordered ten.

Now that I'm caught up, I'll probably find a case of the suckers at a yard or estate sale...

Sorted through 4 window regulators to find a good pair for my '36 pickup.
Sorted through half dozen window channels to find the correct ones for the door glass, left and right.
Found out the SECOND set of aftermarket door strikers are also the wrong size like the first set were (holes don't line up with factory threaded inserts in the door jamb)
started to attach the hood-to-cowl windlace
