You are right Fretters.---The nut is part of the Static Body.---No removable nut.

ForDriver6 --- Those Bison-Bial vises come in "Grown up" sizes, too...
Here's an 8"'er that is a beast...200mm is tad less than eight
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------
They came in size small to Old.---I would have loved to had that 8 incher but was watching 2 other items and never looked around.
Actually I'm really not sure what this is, it just looks like what has been discussed.
Weighs 10 lbs. 8 oz..---Has 2 1/2'' jaws.---Has a badge that I wire brushed to reveal nothing.---Don't know what that is for.
Sorry Old, it's a swiveler to.
New vise. Thanks to Bagged! Love it. Thank you sir! The vise is a lot nicer than you led me to believe.
I was planning to paint it up. But, after seeing it in the flesh (and in the ****), I think I'm gonna hit it with some BLO, make a new handle and put it to work!
JC: I think i'd agree with Meatsis and not replace the original handle and just press it or hammer it straight. That Reed 105 is a stout vise and I had the Craftsman version of it that was one of my favorites until it went to another member's bench in a trade for my Reed 4C.
Drives is right. If the handle is bent, you can clamp it in a BF vise, at the bend, put a 3' pipe over the top of it and bend it straight. I've probably straightened a dozen or so that way.
Taking another look, Exmax makes a point. I usually use a bench and hammer or vise and hammer. But this type of bend would be easy in a press.
Here is a pic for reference.
Bagged,
A 4" Parker vise for 120$...You did fine!![]()

VA, go at the tag with SG; often you can get the spray bomb stuff off and leave the original paint.

Outlaw, I'd love to go at it with SG if I just knew what it was.---I looked up the acronym SG and got 133 meanings.---You are just going to have to tell me what that is.---That's the problem with having an IQ of 38.![]()
hi guys and gals. have the chance to pick up this Trojan 702 for 50 bucks. cant find much info on it. the seller says the jaws open 5.5 inches, just wondering if i should jump on this..
im fairly new to vises and from what i gather . this is part of Parkers cheaper vises? i may be completely wrong. i was reading info last night online while half asleep.
Wow on that paint job! More pictures please.
These are some pics before, during and after the redo.
These are some others that I have had. I still have the green and black wiltons. I had the NO6 Record for a number of years until I found the wiltons that I had lusted over. The pile of vises on the floor paid for my sons Honda Ruckus scooter. He handled the sales and split the money with his little brother.
I think it's a relatively small vise, 3.5" or so. I saw one listed here for $35 I think, considered buying it but had trouble with his schedule.Z3: honestly when the big old US vise companies mention an economy line of vises they are still better made than today's vises that are not economy in most cases.
if that Trojan doesn't have any welds, broken parts or is missing anything I don't thing you can really ever go wrong paying $50 for a vise that size and that age.

Nice work selohssa. Your prep work sure shows up in the finish. Top notch vise art.
There was talk awhile back on making a vise, I think Rileysan was thinking about making castings of a vise. I was introduced to a nice retired craftsman who has a dream machine shop and does top notch miniature work. He used a Morrison and Marvin kit http://www.morrisonandmarvin.com/vise.php the miniature models were copied on a 3d pantograph, molds made then investment cast. If you want to see more then look HERE. Enjoyed his pictures and his machine shop reminds me of when I worked for Big Blue. Cost was no factor in the machines we were given to use. Please be respectful of his images. I asked permission to share these with GJ.

While it looks like China, I don't think I've ever seen jaws like this: http://bakersfield.craigslist.org/tls/5501539462.html
I'd give $30.00 for it, and I don't even need it.I agree that it's Chinese. However, to me, for 30$, it would be great as a welding vise, or a trailer hitch vise.
