Hi Guys and Gals of GJ. Im fairly new here . but been lurking for a few months.
Most of my power tools are bigbox junk. so this drill press is my first real power tool. I know little about it at this point. Ill be trying to do some research over the week or so to see what im really getting into. ive got a quote from Buffalo Machine Tool for a used table. but im waiting for a quote on a better condition one.
The drill press came from a factory before the gentlemen i bought it off of got it. it was missing the table and a few other cosmetic things i could see. I will be tearing this down and trying to bring it back to new, I will need lots of help from bearings. springs. to decal replacements. i really have no idea where to start other then start taking it apart. though i want to make sure i take lots of pictures as i do. do re assembly goes smooth as possible.
It was made in Kitchener (ive yet to research the dates they were produced in kitchener ontario) wich is about 15 min drive from my house.. so that is kinda neat.
I guess this post is really just me saying "Hey . i just bought a drill press and i have no idea what im doing.. please help"
some of the things i noticed rite away
-drive belt is frayed
-needs table
-has replacement motor (1/2 hp)
-needs new handles (has 1 of 3 and its welded in. hoping i can grind it out)
-smallest groove on pulley on motor has small dent
-hole in the top of pulley cover (possibly suppose to be there?)
Where should I start? clean it up then take it apart and catalogue parts and hardware as i go? is there a certain order of dis assembly that will make it easier? any tips and all info on the drill press is greatly appreciated
here is a few pics of the 30 or so i took today after i got it in the basement
Im looking to keep this thread going with updates every few days or weekly.. depends on how busy i get.
