Let me guess, Grimes? When I was working for an aircraft company, we used Grimes exclusively (Landing Light, Wing Tip Lights, Rotating Beacon, Reading Lamps, Ice Lights, everything but the strobe lights.

Yep. Grimes Although it is now Honeywell. A lot of lights have come out of that place over the years including cockpit displays, Aural Warning Units, power supplies,and in recent years nav systems. Great place to work. I just hope it last as it is just about the last industry left in our small town

Track mechanic for Washington metro transit. I work on equipment that is used to repair the track. I do diesel and gas eqiupment, hydrualics, pnuematics, a/c and d/c electrical, and hvac. Been there for about 3.5 years.
Worked as a line tech at a GM dealer for 12 years before that. Got out at the right time. And was in the Air Force for 6.5 years before that. Had good times at all of my adventures.

I have my own heavy duty truck shop. CAT, Detroit certified, full service including body and paint. I have a large company fleet we maintain along with a good number of owner operators who are tired of the big dealerships. We have fuel and sell an average of 7000 gallons of diesel each day.

I am the IT department for a mental health agency. If it plugs into a wall or is powered by batteries it seems to fall under my umbrella.

Then there is the "other duties as required" that includes, deck building, furniture building and worker car fixer guy...lol

Its a great job for an agency that does great work in the community. Which is why I do not mind the "other duties"

EDIT: Because its relevant, Im working on ONE HELL of a school bus right now. 100 hours sunk into it so far. 40 hours worth of overhaul easiness, and 60 worth of hair pulling nightmare.

For 8 hours a day, Monday - Friday, I work as a health facility planner for the New York State Dept. of Health. I review construction for health care facilities. The rest of my time I'm a dairy goat farmer. My wife and I ship goat milk produced on our farm to cheese companies. Farming requires lots of tool use!!!

Lifts are the only way i work. I worked at a dealer once that had no lifts and i decided never again will i work at a facility without lifts.

No trucks shops around here have lifts. Everything and anything can be done to a rig on jack stands.

Oh and I'm a truck mechanic. I despise working any cars other than my own. Too little, too tight.

I got a BBA in Business Management and worked as a dispatcher for a tank truck company for 3 years. I found out I was a better truck driver than a desk driver, so I farmed for 4.5 years. I figured out that all the hired man gets on a farm is old, so I began working for the local John Deere Ag dealer. I have worked on all types of Deere and other farm machines. Since I had a trucking background I also worked on all our trucks and a few customer trucks. I then worked in the irrigation division of our business, installing Reinke pivots and working on all others (even p.o.s. T & Ls). Our company needed a compentent truck driver (with no DUIs) so I began driving truck again, delivering all manner of farm machines. I've done this the last three years and like it. I tell everyone this is the easiest job I have ever had that I can still get paid for.

On the side I had a business of restoring old John Deere tractors, but I have sidelined it until I get my new shop built, which is how I ended up on this site.

I worked at a school district bus garage for a little while
union backstabbing and low pay ruined an otherwise easy job
back to flat rate and dealers for me
other than the pension and cheap medical - no regrets

I used to do some work with pumps, fans, dust collection etc. at IP Courtland & Decatur as well as Nektar (was Shearwater) & Vintage but not anymore.
