Yeah. I like to hit a few sales when work allows. Unfortunately I can't get to these sales early.

I got lucky last Thursday at a sale in south Minneapolis that was advertised on Craigslist instead of Estatesales.net. The guy had worked at Sears. I filled up a box with Craftsman tools and only paid 15 bucks. Got a lot of stuff I was looking for. They really don't cater to use working stiff weekend warrior guys here in MN.

I've seen the same older gentlemen at these sales, and they always have huge piles when they check out. I don't have the patience to wait in line. Most of the guys i see at these sales are retied mixed with a few guys in there mid 30's!
well, thats a good time to do it.Been a slow couple weeks for me, but I did pick up this CP 1/2" impact at a yard sale for $20 today. Also scored a pretty nice Maytag washer and dryer set for $75 which is very fortunate since my old washing machine was broken (and the replacement parts cost more than the machine is worth.) Now the wife has me repainting the laundry room while the machines are out...

Its an aluminum repro, but that's OK. and SWMBO found the wrought iron shelf. it had the remnants of a particle board top but I left that.. I'll make something nicer for this.

Outlaw, even though the mail box is aluminum and not cast iron, for $5, if you decide you don't want it, no harm no foul. Nice find!
I asked about a much better mail box than the one I found last week, and it was $5! its an aluminum repro, but that's OK. and SWMBO found the wrought iron shelf. it had the remnants of a particle board top but I left that.. I'll make something nicer for this.

Also like that mail box and wood/brass Lufkin caliper.
All good finds.

Thanks guys!
I just got a text from him it is a garage sale so no numbers. Do people wait in line at garage sales? Maybe i should ask him if he will sell before the sale?
Yeah since the prices are easily visible there is no mystery of what the prices are. Will probably bring my mom to help. These guys act like your best freind in line but once the sale opens the will trample you like your nothing. Made that mistake on the vintage craftsman sale and he stole everything from me before i even knew what hit me.Lines, no.
What you get are a bunch of vultures circling the end of the driveway waiting for the sale to open. Every now and then one gets bold and goes up to peruse the carcass, until chased off while the kill is still being staged. Eventually the guardian gets tired and let's the vultures descend, just to put an end to the misery. Get there early, you want to be one of the lead birds. While feeding, grab what you can first, then look at it after and decide. If you hesitate, someone else will be stealing it out from under your beak.

It's not personal, they are there for the same reasons you are. My experience with other buyers over the years is that most are friendly and talkative while waiting for the sale to open, but once it's on it's every buyer for themselves. .................
Likewise. I wish I would've known about these sales when I was in my 20s and buying cheap low quality tools out of necessity. I don't flip what I buy, I want quality USA made tools that I can pass down someday.I'm one of the mid 30s guys at those types of sales, not looking to buy stuff to flip (but I will sometimes sell stuff off if times get tough), just trying to build my dream garage on a shoestring budget.

Monticello area. I work all over the metro, so that usually helps my quest for estate sales.
