Joke of the day today: I grabbed the Mac long handle cutters and the seller said "Wow, that's a big pair of dikes!"

I said, "Yeah I always wanted to leave the flea market with a big pair of dikes"

He said "Yeah, two of them".

Today's $24 haul.

Ratchets-Cornwell 3/8, TASK FORCE 1/4,

3 rusty Snap On 1/4 torque meters for $1! Rescued them from a rust bin figuring someone could use them. They are from TRICO.

Vintage craftsman needle nose, MAC long handle cutters.
Malco driver tool, Proto filter wrench, Stanley chisel.

Sockets-Bonney, Snap On, Craftsman, Williams, Blue Point, Thorsen, S-K, Walden

Last two pics-unknown item says Windsor Outboard Motors, Windsor Ontario. About 12-3/4" long and weighs a few pounds. Any ideas?

Picked it up last week when I saw a neighbor doing a small garage sale in the alley. He was asking for $5 but I literally had only $3 in dollar coins in my pocket :bounce: He took the offer. Not the 3/8 aluminum body craftsman I was looking for but I still like the look of it (also helps that it runs perfectly!). Just need to clean up the insides and put in a new cord.

Did i screw up on this free craftsman workbench? It looked just like this but with a ugly white pegboard and top attached to it. I was there but needed to see if it would fit it my car so i drove to the park across the road to make sure and it would stick out after i took the peg board off but it would fit. I came back two minutes later and there was guy a guy taking it. Guess me second guessing myself screwed me again. I had zero space for it tho.

It depends on when it was made, and if you really needed/wanted one. There isn't much value in them and the newer ones are tin foil. The older ones are about as sturdy as the workstation, which is to say light to medium duty. They look good and have their uses, but they aren't tanks.

I didn't need it i have a nice workbench but it was free. I didn't get up close to it but the guy had trouble lifting in his van so it most of been heavy. I didn't have a inch of space for it tho. I can never turn down a tool or garage related item that is free.

I can relate to that.
The weight could have been in the tabletop. Or it could have been an awkward weight for one person as opposed to a heavy weight. Either way, if it was a flipper, you dodged a bullet as far as time to cleanup and sell it is concerned. You might have gotten $50 for it, but it would take time and space in the garage until you found the right buyer. I've passed on a few of those because the seller though they were $100+ items. I'm sure they ended up in the dump, or sold with the house. Sad really, they have a nice look, but take up space that can be otherwise better used. They do make a good hobby desk for a dabbler though.

The only reason i wanted it because it was free. There was a similar one at the estate sale i went to for $40 and i didn't look twice at it. I guess when it is free i will take any tool related item i can get my hands on.

That's how I ended up with an air filtration unit that's too big for my shop. I'm determined to figure out how to make it work in my shop without opening up a basement wall, or hanging in my way at face level. Until then, it's passing the time out in the garage as a mouse motel.

Todays picks. A nice auction . They held the tools out until last so I did some mowing before showing up . It cut my stand around time down to just a few minutes. Tons on matco Mac and Snap on. Most went out of reach but I managed a few pieces for 91.50 total.

Starret Last word dial indicator
2 - 1/4" snapon ratchet
2 Craftsman ratchets
Snap on diagonal cutters
Vise grip Tool box with Sheath
Mac SEA and Metric ratchet wrenches
3 Proto ,1 Mac body hammers

That's a nice random box. Those Allied pullers are pretty decent, been using a set for years.

I picked this beauty up today 65 pound arm & hammer anvil. I have wanted a small arm and hammer for so many years I kinda stopped looking but finally found one today! Perfect size for my leather craft and gunsmith work.

3 rusty Snap On 1/4 torque meters for $1! Rescued them from a rust bin figuring someone could use them. They are from TRICO.

If those Snappy torque meters clean up, they are a big-time score! I sold one with its case for over a hundred and thirty bucks last year.

Topop, that Vise Grip is totally wicked!! I'd have been all over it like a fat kid on a Pop Tart!

So as Nine4GMC said I had a "Joe Striper" kind of day.

I went to another town about 12 miles from my house to drop off the large lot of Mason jars I picked up Friday. The lady was getting ready for the Farmers Market in 3 weeks and need the jelly jars bad LOL. I got $16 in cash and $20 in canned goods for my $17 investment.
I had an ulterior motive for going there I had been trying to get in contact with a guy who was closing his engine rebuilding shop. He didn't answer his phone but I had his address and figured I would stop by and hope he didn't come out with a shotgun or a pack of mean dogs.
Well there was a dog but he was a barker, not a biter thankfully. The old gentleman had a stroke and could not get around that well. I looked at some of his stuff but nothing I needed. I asked him if he had any bench vises and he said yes but it was expensive. I said I might be interested and his grandson took me to look at it. It was a fixed base Simplex Ridgid 51 with 5 1/4" jaws and in good shape so I picked it up. His grandson mentioned there was an anvil so I looked at it. Peter Wright with a 1-0-27 weight markings which should make it 139 pounds which is what it felt like LOL when we picked it up. It's beat up pretty good but should still have some value. I asked for a price, I told him what I would pay and he said OK.
Then the old gentleman asked if I was interested in a bench grinder and sure I will take a look. Craftsman 1/2 HP block grinder with the lamp, good shields and ran OK. Was ugly, missing one grinding wheel and had the wrong switch. I said $**, he said $** and I said OK.
His grandson took me to look at a couple of other things that I wasn't interested in when I spotted a table with some unusual features. It is cast iron with 6 swing out stools. I asked him what he wanted and he said what will you give and I said I only have $** left will you take that? And he did!
While grabbing the vise I had spotted a beat up Snap On road box and said I have $X left would you take that. He said OK.
He also tossed in the Walker jack embossed plate for free with the deal.
So here's the challenge, what did I pay for each piece? Let's see who's closest LOL. Total was $250.

Craptain: What are the particulars on the scopes?

Don't know the specs, but one is a remington or at least has their logo and the other is an unknown, at least to me. Both are pretty basic but good enough for my air rifle and who knows where the other one will end up.

I thought you might have been more interested in the Braiser being a camping item.

NIce score on that box of random what are brands on the micrometers and depth gauge?
specs on the rifle scopes?

Depth gauge is Millers falls. One mic is Starrett and I forget the other one. Also a bunch of random Starrett stuff in the box.

I am flying out again tomorrow so won't have time to really check it all out for a couple of weeks.

From this past Friday, this is going to take several posts. Went to the annual Jefferson car show and swap meet and all I can say is it was awesome this year for tools, I really had to hold back and not buy too much.

Fist score of the day was this 1/2 husky box with all the tools inside.included was 1/2 husky sockets, ratchet, extension, and speeder handle. Another thing inside was a 1/4 husky box with a few husky sockets inside. Last but not least was a very cool Lane unique ratchet wrench " Ford set". Best part was I got it all for $5

Auction from last Sunday, think the perfect weather kept people away from this indoor auction.

Ford wrench and larcoloy spring loaded adjustable wrench $7.50 for the pair

Kennedy toolbox $15

Eagle gas can $5

Everything on table $10 some of the more notable items; craftsman wire strippers, Jacobs 64-j9, bunch of USA made wrenches
I like the Kennedy, excellent patina. I would use it as is!

That ford set is great, I love the look of the ratchet wrench in that set, very crude and early, would love to find one in the wild

On to Saturday!!! Lol, since I apparently didn't get enough Friday I figured I would catch a household auction Saturday morning since it was only about a 1/2 mile away. I came away with a few nice things:
3/8 and 1/2 craftsman speeder handles
1/2 vlchek 3801 breaker bar
3/8 wright 3428 flex head ratchet
1/2 indestro super 3239 ratchet
1/2 vichek 5" extension
1/2 craftsman v 10" extension
17 sockets from apex, Williams, and proto
Craftsman 38292 hammer
18" craftsman level
28" P&C level

All for $9, which made me happy!

And since I was having such a good run and it was raining I figured I would grab my dad and go to another auction today.some of the highlights:
1/4 thorsen box and som misc. Thorsen sockets
1/4 easco ratchet
1/2 new Britain breaker bar
Plastic craftsman socket box with a handful of sockets
Milwaukee heat gun
Not shown was a bunch of rust oleum spray paint, a gallon of mineral spirits, 8 pounds of new brass elbows and t's, bunch of drill bits and taps, and lots of misc hardware.

Got it all for $10. This has definitely been one of my better weekends in a long time, hope the streak continues
