Looking for a screwdriver set but cannot justify breaking the bank on some of these sets. What do you guys think is the best set for the value.

It used to be Enderes Tools USA.
A small family-owned firm up in Minnesota.
Not sure, if they are still in business though?

I'd suggest looking into Felo and Wera. Tip durability is certainly there with either of these two, prices are good through major internet vendors, and the handles are shaped for good grip. I prefer the Felo handle over the Wera myself, but you may be different in youe preference.

Some people will give me hell for saying this, but if we are going for sheer value, then the HF pro is they way to go. I got mine a year or so ago and they are great. Tips have held up well and the handles are very comfortable, they are similar to the 2nd gen bahco ergo screwdrivers.

Worst case you are you $8. With very tight fasteners you might have issues with the handle since they are around, I have had that happen once or twice. As long as you don't thrash on them you should be fine.

Not saying that if you work for NASA or do rocket surgery that you should use these, but for sheer $ to quality ratio, they can't be beat. There is better out there, but not for $8 for 8 drivers.

I'd say pick the handle you like best on a 1/4" bit driver and get the best bits you can. That way you have the best handle and the ability to change the bits when they wear out. Or in the case of my Snap On bits, you never need to change them.

Honestly, $30-ish bucks will buy you a nice set...saving $5 or $10 makes zero sense.

The first time you spend 30 minutes shopping or replacing a driver or paying minimal shipping for a warranty...your time/gas money will set you back your savings. Also, you can usually get the decent set $5 or 10 cheaper on sale if your time has no value and you can wait.

buy something from germany, unless you get williams or proto or similar. wera, felo, wiha etc are all proven...I like witte but may not as easily found.

Also, you can get something a 4 in one driver from snap on for $20 if you just need occasional use.

The only time i would truly worry about "budget" drivers is if you are likely to lose them or have them stolen. In that case, that $8 HF set or something really comes into its own.

This is sort of a devil's advocate post here...but if you need something beyond these types of sets really consider why and what you are doing.

are you talking about the ones with the clear handles? if so there junk. the HF pros for $8 are 100times better then those.

Only bang you are getting from the Cman drivers is the sound of glass breaking when you throw them in frustration.

These are actually very nice screwdrivers. I would not hesitate to buy another set.

I like 2 of the sets mentioned above the Whiha set sold at some Sears stores for around $35 is a great bang for the buck, the other bargain is the Williams 8 piece black hard handle set for $47 at abolox.
Witty is another great choice,I purchased mine for too much$ on a tool truck.
I really paid stupid tax on that one, then found a comparable set on Zoro or somewhere for way less.

Craftsman Extreme Grip Diamond Tip Screwdrivers....6 piece set (not the clear handle ones!) Routinely $20 on sale. Just wait for the sales. Read the reviews...they get great reviews. They just expanded the line to 16 different drivers, so you can expand the collection, either by the set or individually. Everyone from homeowners to pros say this is a good set.

The biggest critique is "But they are made in China"....

Those are awesome. During the big sales, you can get them for about $1 per driver in a set.

They are so cheap that you don't have to be afraid to use them as prybars, probes, or to mix up the charcoal in your BBQ. They work great as screwdrivers, too!

Strictly bang-for-the-buck get the free ones Harbor Freight gives away.

Worth every penny of the purchase price (and more):lol_hitti

Depends on intended use, if you drag them everywhere and frequently lose them anyway, Harbor Freight or Home Depot sets fit the bill.

Craftsman...not so good. Ask Wilinmac. He bent his sideways turning a screw.:willy_nil

I guess I'm a lot easier on my tools than you guys. I've got many of the craftsman clear style handled screwdrivers and have never had an issue with them.

Anyone have the Klein cushion grip 8 piece set?
If so, what do you think of it?

^^The old ones were good but the recent crop of Kleins are terrible. The tips are soft and one cam out will ruin a philips tip.

Somewhere along the line, Klein must have skipped the heat treating process or screwed up the process.

Not me, I have a set of my think they're great, my go to's.

I have some cman pros and a couple of black snap bonds but these actually have a much better grip on them.

If it's too tight fastener gives out before the screwdriver every time Or I have not seen any deformities in the tips.
