This looks like a decent Craftsman table saw for $100 I don't think I've ever saw one quite like this it said to have a 32 by 34 tabletop looking at the picture I would say the 34 is 34 deep I thought 27 was pretty much a standard depth on a table saw looks like it's pretty well made.

While that could be a great deal for someone (100 lb vise = $0.65/lb) but keep in mind that vise is suppose have a swivel base which is missing. See pic below of vintage advertisement.

That's a valid question as the ad only shows the left side of the vise but this vise model has the typical swivel base but with only one tightening bolt on the right side and none on the left side. If you look at the pic my post above above of the old ad, it's the vise on the bottom right.

Finding the right swivel base is doable but they are not common especially in this vises size. You may be able to use a base from another manufacturer if the holes line up. Measure the outside circumference and the circumference of the swivel bolt to find one that matches. If it was a 4" jaw then finding a swivel bases is fairly easy but a 5 1/2" is a lot less common.

You could easily bolt it to your table if you have access to underneath but that eliminates swiveling but at least you'll have a good working vise so it's better than nothing while searching for a swivel base. Besides how often do people actually swivel there very large 100 lb vises? I rarely ever do. I like knowing that I have that option but in reality I don't need it. Hope this helps

You are correct on all counts. Since I already have a 5 inch bullet, a 5 1/2 inch Columbian, and a 6 inch Parker, I certainly don't NEED another large size vise. But that doesn't mean I wouldn't pick up that Prentiss if it was closer. Being in CA yourself, you know it's a LONG drive to MA. I know, I did it last Spring. I didn't dare stomp around in Joe's territory though, so I kept a low profile!

Looks like someone grabbed it up--- now says "SOLD" in the description. Why he didn't just remove it I can't guess...it was an 80 gal Champion compressor for $100, pump needed rebuilding.

Owner says the fins are no issue, you can decide for yourself. Also included: 75 ft hose and water trap.

These are actually nice for a bench top. Just bolt it to a thick steel slab, these have a rack & pinion crank to raise and lower the head. Add a chuck with a MT3 arbor and Bobs your uncle.

Even better if you add a VFD.

Wow, do those have potential....they must weigh a ton and I'd think you'd need to be extra careful when moving/setting them up so they don't tip over given their base is so small.

I will say this is not a project for the meek. I would use a 1" flat steel slab bolted to a 36" tall Lista cabinet (drawers full). The four holes properly drilled to accept the drill base and going into the Lista or something equivalent. Alternately you can mount this to an existing floor base if you had one. Just swap columns and keep the rack & pinion. Being able to quickly move head up and down is a really nice option versus moving the table. The drill press is well balanced front to back because of the arbor/motor and center column. Side to side is not much of a concern. I recently found a Craftsman 100 bench mount drill press but am still waiting for delivery from out of state.
I plan to bolt it to my wooden workbench. No steel plate
My workbench is a layer of 2x12s covered with a sheet of 1/4 inch tempered hardboard. It's framed up with 2x4s with a 2x4 ledger lag screwed to wall studs. The front edge sits on 4x4 wooden posts.

I will continue to be on the lookout for a one horsepower +/- 3 phase motor.

Not sure if this is a scorcher, but a 4 1/2" Woden Vise for $75 near Santa Rosa CA. If you know how to use electolysis, dunking this in a bucket and letting it sit for a day will likely work wonders.

Ad says "Hardly used but sat in a carport for most of its lifetime", which is a good thing-- neglected vises can be restored pretty easily, abused ones it's much tougher.

Hmm, good eye on the chip on the dynamic jaw, I didn't see it. I don't *think* it's a big deal but a bargaining 'chip' regardless.

As for me, Rohnert Park is a bit far to travel, plus I already have a Woden; they're nice but if I get another one I'll never hear the end of it!

Not cheap at the current asking price of $200 but thought maybe one of you in the southern CA area (Long Beach) looking for one of these might want to keep an eye on it. If it stays listed for a while, seller may take an offer of much less. From the photos, it looks to be in pretty good condition. These were made in 1942 for only 6 months so I don’t think there are that many of them around.
