Tires - Quiet with decent tread life?

Mastercraft LSR. Reasonably priced, balance out nicely, good tread pattern, no noticeable noise. I just put a set on my wifes' CRV and I have sold hundreds of sets of these ( I run a repair shop). They are a fantastic tire despite the low cost.

Continental TrueContact. LRR, 880 treadwear, long warranty, very quiet.

What's your budget? $500 or $1500?
Smokenarrow's recommendation is a good one. I work for a Mastercraft dealer and we sell loads of the LSRs. They have just released a new design for them. They call it the LSR Grand Touring now instead of LSR Touring. I have sold both of my parent's these tires for their personal cars and my one coworker that doesn't drive a truck has them on his Equinox.

AFAIK they're pretty much the same tire, ones just a bit sportier and a touch more aggressive. Not really something I handle much though.

Not many tires are made in the US anymore so buying foreign opens up the choices. I have Khumos on a Jag and they are really good. I've had good experiences with Toyo. I bought US made Coopers once and they were just 'OK'.
Upscale you will find Pirelli, Michelin, Continental and GoodYear. Bridgestone (Firestone) can be a good choice. BF Goodrich, Sumitomo and Dunlop are in the hunt. There're really a LOT of tires to choose from.
Tire Rack and others rate the tires every way to Sunday including road noise.

I'm guessing you only have 16" wheels and not 17"? You won't be under $110 for 17" that's for certain. I also sell the Master craft, good tire for reasonable price. So what you want is a long lasting, quiet tire, with traction for all seasons, and you want it cheap? Yep, that sums up every single customer I've ever talked to... LMAO

Michelin guy here use Defenders ( green X) on a 2010 Impala (225/60/16 ) and happy with them , but I run more than what Gm says to inflate to ( run at 44 psi vs 30psi) , they handle better ( not mushy feel when turning) and last longer too . but they are a $156 a tire ,
at 30 psi ( what Gm wants ) they still handle ok but a little mushy in the steering and will spin the tires when wet , but the milage drops 3-5 mpg and squeal when you turn on asphalt and show signs of cupping ( shocks/struts have been replaced with KYB's and aligned )
on my firebird 98 base , use kuhmos ecsta AST's 245/50/16 ($75 ea) and am suprised how well they are , they have wet weather traction ( which firebirds are not known for ) and low noise when inflated to the proper pressure ,

I have BF Goodrich now and they **** as far as road noise goes. It's a shame too because I have good tread left on them (looks to be at least 30K left on them).
I can go over $110 but right now since the noise is such an issue that's my #1 priority is to get a quiet tire (I do lot's of highway driving and it's maddening after about an hour...).
I thought the BF Goodrich were good tires but the noise is something I didn't expect.
And yes they are 16".

I'm running Continental ExtremeContact tires on my '14 Fusion - dead silent, even when going significantly faster than 70mph. Tread life seems very good, on par with (or better) than the last set of Michelin Primacy tires I had on a lighter car, great wet traction, absolutely smooth on the interstate, and handle very well for being on a big ***-heavy car. Trade-off is price - $150-200 per.
Another vote for Michelins...I have Defenders and Latitude Xice Xi2's for my one vehicle and Pilot Super Sports and Xice Xi2's for the other one.
I've ran various other brands, Toyo, BFGoodrich, Bridgestone, Goodyear...and none quite match up to the Michelins. They might cost a bit more, but you will get that back in their good treadwear/life.

Porsche uses or used a lot of Continental tires. They can't be that hard. But, every tire manuf'er has lots of different tires.

Hey, great minds think alike! I recently put Kumhos on my XJS. They are really nice.
You can go to the online tire buying sites like tirerack.com and read buyer reviews. Very helpful stuff about noise, handling, tire longevity.

I've got Continental ExtremeContact DWS's on my car and I like them. They seem like a good set of tires and I think I got them around 500$ installed. I would get them again if I got a new car... Well, I'd get the newer DWS06 version.
They might be harder than some competing tires but I wouldn't know. They seem to grip well enough and stop quicker than the stock Hankook Optimos did. I didn't get a good feel for the winter performance since we didn't get a lot of snow this year.

I had very good luck with a set of Firestone Precision Touring Radials on my 05 Impala. I bought a second set to replace them and my son put a set on his car as well.
Have Cooper CS5 on my wife's Lexus and they are great.
Went thru several sets of Conti DWS and they get real rough and noisy at 20K miles. Will not buy again.
Just bought a set of Vogue Special Blacks---$285 for the set after rebates---for my BMW. Supposedly the factory tire on new Cadillacs, and the reviews say quiet and durable.
What BF Goodrich tires are you running?
A "Touring TA" is drastically different than a "Sport Comp 2" as an example.

Kumho Ecsta PA31's on my 2010 Fusion SE (245/40R18)
Kumho Ecsta SPT on my 1994 Mustang GT (285/40R17 Rear, 255/40R17 Front)
Both are good, but the PA31's are a great all season tire. Had some hankooks before the PA31's that had better dry grip, no complaints about wet grip from any of them.

I have Goodyear Assurance Comfort Tread Touring tires on My 2007 G6. Very happy, best tire's I've had on this car.
A little more than you're willing to spend but they're really quiet, I've got about 40,000 miles on them and they still look like new. Ride is good and good traction. Not excellent in the snow, but acceptable.
I Just put Michelin's on my Flex, with a promotion they were only $20 more than Coopers.

I ran the Goodyear Assurance on my Ford Focus and got 65k out of them. I bought another set slightly upgraded supposed to do better mileage. Got a $50 and $80 rebate back.
