It sounds like Shorty is thinking you're going to hinder the pour.![]()
Ouch, I was sharing my experience for your benifit. Now days I get the work done then fall over![]()

Quite the opposite. I figured it would take 4 hrs to get to Tallahassee on his way to Kentucky. You guys are slipping.
I would definitely appreciate some tips on finishing. On a patio and shop apron I poured I believed I floated at the wrong time. It came out fine but I rather do it 100% correct.
When I was in high school (yeah I know) I worked for a company that did concrete. I got good enough to be the foreman of our crew. But that was a little while ago. Okay is was a freakin long time ago. But learning how to hand trowel has never left me. Shorty would have had a good crew if he had us. Something tells me he's going to get it done even without our help.
Now when are you leaving for Kentucky and where do you hide the key to your shop?![]()

Since there's a 2 yd. minimum, I built a form out back so there is a landing. I used the dirt from the hole to build up this slab to 4" and to fill in around the form.

Boy am I tired. No volunteers showed up to give proper shoveling techniques.
I've dug the hole and placed the rebar along with some small dowels in the thin existing concrete. The plan right now is to pour tomorrow afternoon.
Shorty way to go, no sense in wasting concrete.
All the best with the pour.
Regards

Even if I got down there, all I could do is give advise. Being a foreman and all does require a lot of overlooking and staying out of the way as cb stated.
Good luck with it all today Shorty. I hope the weather cooperates with you.
So is today "slab day"?
Now let me get this straight, slab1 has to have bubbles, slab2 has to be flat and slab3 should be wavy...
...Simples!

Exactly! Only issue is someone (CB) doesn't have slab 3 prep going right now.![]()
I may have him pissed off. I heard he was putting some kind of booby traps around his shop before he heads out for Kentucky. Mumbling something about "try and take my boxes huh. I'll show them mother&^%$##@s"
I am curious if and how the pour went Shorty?????

Maybe I should try it. Might have a more productive day,

No that would be a Dr. Pepper of course.
My apologies. Pour didn't happen because mix truck broke. I wanted to find a picture since the truck isn't the standard concrete truck. No luck on that.
Was going to set up at a swap meet this weekend but with rain and not feeling the best, I'll be puttering around the shop. So if anybody wants to buy a nice table, Equipo cabinet, stands for whatever, wood saw blades, etc. call me.![]()

Any room for someone NOT from Florida? Or is this a private conversation????????????

First off I would like to thank CBacres for his guidance during my attempt to do a smooth finished concrete floor and G man for promising to come up and paint.
I have done a couple of patios and parking decks so the rear landing turned out pretty good. The lift pad inside is done but not smooth like I wanted. No matter how great the instructions, questionable patience and technique seems to take precedence. I don't think I floated the concrete well enough so didn't get the cream on top which in turn made it hard to get a good finish. It seems pretty level and flush but has some pin holes.
Tomorrow I plan on drilling the holes and putting in the wedge anchors and hopefully do my first oil change Sunday using my new 15 month old MaxJax!
Wait. I don't wanna wait. I want it now!!! I know, I have to wait at least twenty-eight days. Just checking to see who was going to comment.
I don't know if it is hard labor or being 21 in a 56 yr old body, but I'm worn out. Hopefully this is it for the heavy lifting.
Those are volumetric concrete trucks. They hold all the materials separately and only mix as needed. We have one and a trailer based one too. They are pretty good machines, but you need to use them fairly consistently, up here we have to drain all the lines for the winter.
