I cleaned up an area that was getting out of hand. I've had 3 kids move in and out, mostly leaving their stuff. My wife and I left it as we assumed they wanted it. She finally pinned them down and none of them could even remember leaving their belongings. So some it going to charity. I also dragged out the carcass of a 1972 Honda SL 350 that I have ignored for 10 years. I intend to get it on the road this year. Then I waited for a delivery that was supposed to arrive at 2 pm but didn't get here until 5:30 pm.

Yesterday I finished plumbing the metal pipe for my air system in the shop.
I put in 1-1/4" pipe up to the roof peak and into a manifold. The metal pipe will supply an air powered lift, a 1/2" hose reel with a high flow connector to drive the 3/4" impact and a 3/8" hose reel for working on everything else.
From the manifold at the peak of the roof the metal pipe goes from 1-1/4" metal pipe to 3/4" pvc. I did have 1/2" pvc because my previous compressor couldn't produce enough volume for bigger pipe. Now Im going with 3/4" pvc with T's that are 3/4 through but the T is 1/2" so all the work benches will have plenty available air. Im hoping I can get rid of all the air hoses that end up snaked across the floor.
Right now Im waiting on some moister filters to put in right before the hose reels, and a roll of 1/2" copper pipe to make an air cooler with. I want to put the cooler inbetween the pump and the tank to keep moisture out of the tank. I saw it on youtube.
The change Im making is Im adding a check valve after the pump so when the head dumps pressure in order to start it wont empty pressure in the 50' roll of 1/2 copper.

Wait for it. Air and PVC. Not a good mix.

Extremely dangerous! PVC under air/gas pressure is essentially a shrapnel bomb waiting to go off. Metal pipe won't shatter, which is why all the codes require any compressed air pipes to be rated for air. PVC won't be.

To get a gauge of what might happen, take a spare fitting and hit it with a hammer (wear a face shield); it will shatter, and the pieces with have razor sharp edges. Now imagine those pieces in your face or eyes, or maybe a loved one...

You keep your fish in the garage? Me too! I have a 120 and a 110. Got the beerarator in the garage too. Sometimes I just enjoy a cold one while I watch my tanks, it relaxes me.

:lol_hitti No, the tank is in the living room. I cleaned the glass in the gararge...

You did all that nice work. And then you use PVC...:dunno:

Went over the "snow truck" a little - semi retired old Tahoe. Checked fluids and aired up tires and then took it for emissions test, but it never passes on eth first try 'casue it sits unused except for snow days. Today was no different. Still came back as "too little data" to read and I have been running it a little every weekend since I got the notice in the mail.

Washed the camper and did a little PM on it for upcoming trip. Also added an electric tongue jack - Bulldog 3500LB unit I got for 100 bucks on sale at the dealers "summer open house"....they thought they'd get me in there to buy another RV, but NOPE, just gimme the jack and I'm outta here! :lol_hitti

Worked on the Ramcharger a little today pulling the rear bumper off to have it dechromed. Part of the refinish prep of the beast. Also cleaned the workbench off.

Gutted a Hitachi power tool case from a dead something or other. They make great cases for drill and screw bits and tools that didn't come with a case. Cut and glued up some PVC blocks to fill in the bottoms of some roof trim. Purged a few things.

I made a custom pistol case doing that with a tool case a few years ago. I even got the paint off of it (with some difficulty...)

Installed a new gas tank in a 66 Mustang, but it seems like all the parts made today so many do not fit. The tank fit nicely but the filler neck is bent wrong and as you can see it is about a inch off from lining up with the tank. I contacted the company I bought the stuff from and will have to see what they have to say about it.

I refurbished a wheel barrow I grabbed from the curb a few weeks ago during bulk pickup.

It's a large poly tub model and the tub had no cracks. As a bonus it had a foam filled tire which I could use on another WB as needed. A lot of the bolts were missing so I bought a full set of the needed bolts and took it apart.

That's when I got my laugh. Once it was apart you can see one of the problems with this WB.

I went to HD and bought 2 replacement handles and reassembled the WB. For $30.00 I have a large poly wheel barrow with a never-flat tire which will be good for mulch and chips (light stuff).

Here she is - ready for use!

My wife thought it was funny - that I put this much effort into what is my 3rd WB. I reminded her of my 10 fans, 6 work lights and other things that are all useful around the house.

Cheers

Jim

Finally got my trailer back 14-months after I dropped it off at the manufacturer to fix some damage due to a blow out. I had to clean out the garage in 97 degree heat to make room for it again.

Helped a friend restore his 65 Mustang a few years. A lot of the restoration parts he bought did not come close to fitting. Between modifying the new restoration pieces and fixing the old parts taken off, we got the car finished. I don't have a problem with restoration parts for other brands of cars, just early Mustangs.

Fixed my drum throne before last nights gig. Had to weld the bottom seat collar back on and added some extra support for hopefully long lasting results.

Jim, congratulations on dodging a bullet. Reminding your wife of your other vices (or is that vises) is good. Mentioning shoes/handbags taken to the shoe repair shop or jewelry taken to the jeweler to be repaired is a very deep and painful man-trap.

Nothing, 800 km away for work the duration of this month.

Day off so we hit up the evacuation help center and got 1250 from the Provincial Government today and expected to get another 900 from Red Cross, those two alone will put me ahead another week of earnings above what I will make. Day dreaming Of my new toolboxes coming and cupboards being made when I get home!

Lightly re-organized and re-oriented a large shelving unit in the garage. Now it sits flush against the wall instead of jutting out into the garage like it used to. Threw away a bunch of detritus that had accumulated. Now we will have quite a bit more space to walk around the cars.

Cut 200 ft of mystery clothesline off the brush hog. Added a new pivot pin to the downstairs bathroom vent cover. Serviced and cleaned the vacuum. Cleaned the vacuum muffler, too.

Hung some more relocated cabinets, put up some bins, cleaned. Also tack-welded and spray painted a pencil holder out of some scraps.

I've been looking for a shop apron but I found something to dislike about every one I looked at, so I made myself one today. I'm so glad I decided to get s sewing machine for the garage, this is my second time using it and the machine will have paid for itself with a couple more projects. 181f5d3f67700052891fab42f5398e42.jpg4bc28d57ad8c69ef6c207a3e3b859115.jpg

The apron came out great!

I have a couple sewing machines I got at an auction, but they are for fancy stitching. I am hoping to trade them or sell them for a regular old heavy duty machine.

That's cool! It wouldn't have surprised me if there were posts requesting you to turn in your "Man Card" for even contemplating having a sewing machine...

Ha ha, I had a thread asking about sewing machines not long ago and it turned out there are a ton of members into sewing. It's an awesome thing to have in your repair/create arsenal, plus you use an intricate machine to do it, it fits with a GJ member.

Sewing machines are machines, not tampons, I dont see the big deal. Anyone that thinks sewing is just for women, I challenge them to try some auto upholstery or saddle making, actually anything requiring a sewing machine. A sewing machine is no different than a milling machine, drilling machine or driving machine.

Great job on the apron!

Changed the oil in the wife's Kia, then cleaned the interior. Changed the oil in the WRX, finished cleaning the exterior and gave it a coat of wax. I usually use sealant on coatings on my vehicles, but the WRX is babied so I thought it deserved a coat of Souveran. I did pull it out of the garage to take the pic though...

I have been threatening to start powder coating parts for the last couple of years but I have been dragging my feet on getting an oven to bake the parts. Well I finally got an oven a couple of weeks ago and figured out how I wanted to install it. Then I price the wiring and at around $3 a foot :scared:I figured out new way do the install.:bounce:.

Ditto.

I always joke that I have three welding machines and two sewing machines. Done everything from furniture upholstery to sporting goods and my wife admits I am better at using them so I fix all the clothes too - tho there could be ulterior motives. :wtf: Just wish my industrial machine could do more than a plain straight stitch.

I wish I had a heavy-duty sewing machine, I think it'd be an awesome skill to have. I've done a little bit of sewing shirts and pants on an old Singer machine, but I want something heavy enough to handle thicker canvas and what not. My grandfather and I made a few snowblower cabs for our Wheelhorses out of 1/2" EMT and had a local Amish guy take measurements and sew us up some nice covers. I'll have to post a picture of one. I'd love to be able to do my own.

Not exactly IN my garage but in front of it.
Pulled in the driveway and parked my 1999 Ford Ranger. I noticed the odometer had just turned over 200K. This truck has been as dependable as a blacksmith's anvil. I am ready for the next 100K.

Disassembled, cleaned, polished and reassembled the large 1970 stainless steel fire extinguisher I picked up this past week for a $1.00. Came out much better then I thought it would.

Fixed one of my wife's vintage garden signs and made some repairs to the front porch screen door.

Inventoried and checked my airbrush and lettering paints and supplies to see what's still good and what I need to replace.

That's it, pretty boring.

Didn't get a lot done last night due to washing and cleaning the coach. The wife and I got back from a few day trip to Bryce NP and we had eliminated a LOT of bugs from southern Utah, all on the front of the coach.

After putting the washing stuff away and parking the coach, I hung my collet rack on the wall just above the lathe that I purchased to hold my 5C collets in. I also started to cut some metal and prepped some tubing to make a few argon purge or backer boxes for TIG welding.
