Looks good! And I see your siding guys are using plank pump jacks. They make for fast work!
Thanks man. Yea it was an Amish crew. The dad and his three sons. They do excellent work. I did let him use my telescopic fork lift with basket for some of the roof sections. They were spoiled getting to use that.

Just a little update: Ran 3 - 1.25" conduits from the shop to the house. They are ran inside of the wall to keep the exterior of the house and shop clean. Busted holes in the block and tucked the conduits inside. Then i filled the hole with non-shrinking grout. One runs the 100A service to the shop. 1 will be used for cable between the house and shop and the other will be for CAT 5 for the camera system. I also dropped a 4th 1.25" conduit directly to the outside incase its needed in the future. The 100A wire has been pulled to the shop. Hope to get it all wired up tonight. That will finish up 99% of the wiring. Still have a few spare circuits to pull and the low voltage wiring for the garage doors, door bells, under cabnet lighting, etc.

It will probably be the rest of May finishing up the odds and ends and getting the stone work done and the front porch finished on the house. Once that all wrapped up ill get the house insulated. But i should be able to hop on the shop and start the wiring and getting the outside weather tight, porch columns wrapped, stone work, interior metal, garage doors, lighting, cameras, security system, etc. Might be able to move into the shop by the end July?

Re: HemiRamOn22s Shop (40'x80') & House Build!!

So no plans for water or bathroom in the shop?
Of course. Look back at my pictures before i poured the basement slab. (Post #214 on Page 11) You can see where i roughed in the plumbing for the bathroom as well as the hydrant for water. Im running a 1" line off of the house supply for water. Actually doing soil testing tonight to setup a seperate septic system for the shop. Roughed in a 1/2 bath under the enclosed portion of the lean to. Also ran a drain line up to the second story for a future full bath.

Yea just a small instant unit that mounts under the sink for now. When i finish above the shop ill put a seperate unit above the bathroom.

I dont have many pictures of the inside of the shop after the floor was poured. Ill get some better pictures tonight so you have a better idea what im planning.

Found a nice surprise when i got to the house tonight. The power company had come by today and switched my temp. service over to the house service. Spent a few hours hooking up a few wires and i have power in the house and the shop! Going to get the exterior soffit lights installed tomorrow night and i should have light around the outside of the house for some added security. Cant wait to see what it looks like!

Also dug the test holes for the shop septic system. Was going to do a combined system and pump the shop over to the main drainage field but my septic guy has convinced me to install a separate system on the shop. It will be a little bit more work but i should actually save some money up front and def. in the long run without the maintenance of the pump.

Sorry i was too busy tonight to take any pictures. More to come so stay tuned!

Yea, how does that saying go? Pictures are worth 1,000 words?

Few Pics from the counduit rough in and final panel setup on the exterior. The 320A meterpanel is wired into the Generac Automatic Transfer Switch to the left and directly behind it is a 200A service that has all of the non essential things like ovens, receptacles, etc. that wont be on generator power when i lose power. The Panel directly behind the Generac ATS provides 90% of the service to the shop, 2 sub panels in the house, and all of the other essential services like lights, etc. There is a 125A subpanel in the basement mech room. the 2nd story mechanical room and the shop that are all on backup power. I still have to set my generator and there will be one more conduit coming out of the Generac ATS and i will run the service underground to the 22KW generator which will be placed between the two windows on the back wall of the garage about 10' from the main panels. The ground wire that you can see now will be hidded by that conduit. I got a sweet deal on the generator and ATS from Lowes. They were running a special a few months ago.

These are the spare conduits that i talked about in a previous post

Final service, no more temp power!

Pictures of the Shop!

Side Porch... still need to finish the wainscoating this weekend and start on the porch ceiling now that the electric is done for that portion. I redid the corners for stone as the contractor had things screwed up. The porch posts will get a PVC wrap with caps on top and bottom. You can see a sample of it on the first post. The door straight back goes into the 1/2 bath. More on that later...

Now for some interior shots after concrete. Floor has been done with a cure and seal product during installation to keep the concrete from drying too fast. Everything was saw cut after installation. The floor turned out really nice.

You can see the service in this first picture and the spares that run over to the house.

Water Hydrant between the doors, its fed with 3/4" poly. I'll mount a hose reel on the wall behind it once metal is up.

shop3_zps9iy6nfws.jpg

The mower/atv door on the side. Its 8'x8'. Im using high lift track and a liftmaster 8500 opener. You can see the floor drain thats still covered right now.

shop4_zpsujt0qtcm.jpg

Door on the right goes into the 8'x10' 1/2 bath. The door on the left goes in the the 32'x10' dirty room thats enclosed under the lean to. Wall hasn't been built yet that will seperate the two rooms. You can see the vent/rough in for the full bath that will come later on the second floor.

Standing in the bath looking into the dirty room

Looking back the opposite direction

shop8_zpsv0h9fjcg.jpg

Closer look at the 1/2 bath... closest pipe in the floor is the toilet drain, then the vent on the wall/sink drain. There will be a mop sink that sits into a cabinet/counter top. The plumbing on the wall next to the door is the 3/4" poly that runs to the water hydrant. There is also a 3" pvc pipe in the floor that you can't see that is stubbed to the outside that I will run the water line from the house up into and tie the two together.

shop6_zps8suoxkur.jpg

4 post lift will set here. Cabinets and work area on the back wall. You can see one of the 1.25" spare conduits that is ran outside for future use if needed. I put one on each of the 4 corners and then ran it up above the carriers and strapped to the truss using 1 hole straps.

shop9_zpsk28vevba.jpg

2 post lift will set here. There will also be a staircase in the back corner that runs upstairs. Ill sit my compressor in the room under that staircase.

Light welding/fabrication, motor assembly, etc... I do a lot of cutting and grinding on all kinds of random projects. Some light wood working as well. If it wont fit through the 36" door then ill have to do it in the main shop. If i need to go to a double door later on, then it wont be a problem. Keep in mind this isnt my main shop. I have a shop twice this big that i run my business out of about 15 minutes away. This is more of a hobby shop to work on my cars and other toys.

Made some progress yesterday on the porch metal. I had a few sub contractors get the building to the point it is now. I will be using myself and a few guys that work for me to get the building to the finish line. I learned 2 lessons yesterday. Always put the wainscoting on first and metal will stretch with temperature. Let just say i wrestled with the wainscoting for 6 hours and moved every single 7' panel above it to get the joints to line up the best i could. It was a nightmare to say the least but i wanted to leave the metal off so i could pour the porch floor first then set L strip and the metal on top. I did use a piece of rat guard to the right of the bathroom door because the corner metal had already been cut and the floor had about 1" of slope on it. I added some custom touches to the metal, but it fit really well. Got started on the soffit metal as well. Might get it finished up tomorrow night if they have enough screws in stock.

That is always tough, we haven't had too much rain this year, but our gravel road hasn't dried out for more than a day at a time for the past month. It seems to stop just long enough to mow on my weekends, then starts right back up.

Ha they are calling for another 4-5" between now and Sunday. Watch it will be dry as a bone this summer. The Corn is growing like crazy right now. Few sunny days and it will be 2' tall. Even with all of the rain we have had everything has been covered in dust. My barn and house need to be washed off already.

LIGHTS!

House Garage: I have mounted 4" round J-boxes for rough in. Im going to mound 7.4" Surface mount LED fixtures. 4,000K in color and 985 Lumens each. They only draw 15w a piece. I put 8 of them in the garage. Ill be using them as well in the stairway going into the basement, the exterior soffit as they are wet rated, and the porch ceiling on the shop. They are made by TOPAZ and pictured below. Cost is around $30 ea.

topaz%20surface%20LED_zpsfzt30hfg.jpg

Shop: The main shop area i plan on mounting round J-boxes again and mounting 4' LED lights made by Lithonia. They will mount between the ribs of the metal so running front to back. I'm thinking about 3 rows of 5 lights for the main 40'x80' area. And 3 more in the 10'x40' dirty room. They are the lights sold at HD that everyone uses. Im hoping 15 will be enought in the main shop with 13' ceiling. 2,400 Lumens and 4,000K color. They draw 40w each. Thoughts? Should i add another row or do 6 lights in 3 rows? Or do you think 15 is enought. They are $50 ea.

Little preview of the stone work. Also built myself a safe room in part of the unused attic. Long list of things to get done this week before insulation. Trying to have everything wrapped up by Monday the 13th.

Update (6/15/16)

House: Everything has been roughed in. Right around 11-12,000 feet of wire, speaker cable, cat5/6, etc. Insulation started today. Drywall the end of next week and then Painting will start around the beginning of July! Things are moving right along! Stone work shoud be finished on the house and shop today. The gutters are going up on the shop today and the house tomorrow and Friday. Rest of the foundation will be parged beginning of next week. Im hoping to get the septic for the house and shop in next week as well. Post wraps for the front coulums should be here Friday and installed next week as well.

Shop: Purlins are up at 2' and 4'. Going to get my electric roughed in. Might take a week or two doing it at night. Staircase is also ordered. Need to get the platform built, set the stairs. Then build the walls around the stairs and compressor room. Also need to get the wall built that seperates the bathroom and dirty room. Post have been wrapped on the outside. As i said before the Gutters are going on today and the stone should be finished today as well.

I will post more pictures of course. Phone has been broke and i put in 50 hours last week on the house on top of a 40 hr work week.
