Put together center section #2 on the week. This one is a Strange nodular case with a 31 spline truetrac. Used my press to put pressure on the pinion bearings while setting up the solid spacer so I didn't have to run the pinion nut in and out a bunch of times before getting the proper preload.

I'm too cheap to buy an expensive pinion depth checker so I'm forced to do some careful math. My math told me I needed an .031 shim, good enough place to start.

I heat up the carrier bearings and ring gear on a hot plate to make installation easier. They literally drop on, no hammering or pressing.

Dropped it in, took an initial reading, near perfection on the first shot. Its hot and humid, I'll leave all the final torqueing for tomorrow...

Nice work on the 3rd members Matt. Nice Dake hydraulic press as well, I looked at them a while back when I was looking to upsize my Nugier but couldn't justify the cost, but they are sweet.

Mike.

Changed the oil, rotated the tires, & greased the daily. R&R the Summit Racing knock sensors in the beast with AC Delco's. I've been getting a 'low voltage' DTC for the front sensor. Now I have a 'low voltage' DTC for both.
:(

It's been fine since December when I swapped this engine in... I need to get this issue taken care of before I pull the 6 spd out of the camaro.

Stacked the materials in the corner for the next patio project.

A buddy came out, we placed and welded the anit-roll bar in. Once the rest of the drive train is back in, the tabs will get welded on the rear end tubes.

After that, we BS'ed for about an hour since we welded in the shop.

Cleaned up my new eBay score. A MK Products Model #3 welding positioner. It is in pretty good condition, just needs a little of my TLC and she will be ready to go.

put a new chain on my new chain saw. Now to get and chop down some branches. We just had a storm roll through, so I can sneak them into the weekly garbage collection instead of disposing of them myself.

I tore down my makeshift paint booth. About 3 months ago, I built this so I could paint the track bodywork for my Ducati.

My bodywork started out like this.

And ended up like this

But today, it was time to free up the space that the paint booth was occupying.

I have the same bike lift, Pro Cycle.

Very nice work on not only the paint work on your Ducati but also on the spray booth itself.

Oh and welcome to the forum, I see that is your first post. You will find that this is a great forum and great people here.

Nice work on the bike, spray booth and welcome to GJ Chris.

I cut the rear brake hose and popped the cap on the reservoir to let it drain overnight. I cleaned the weld and painted the ends of the anti-roll bar.

Working on a few things for my JK...First I added a backup camera and plugged it into my DNX7100. Best damn $8 I've spent

Then added a power junction box just beneath the steering wheel. This fuse block fit perfectly. This particular fuse block can hold up to 100 amps

I added the fuse block because I need more power so I can finish wiring these up

Nice job. I used a remote fuse panel for my electrical accessories and mounted in nearly in the same spot in my JKU. Works great.

Last night I had to repair the handle on my lawnmower before mowing my lawn in 98 degree heat. Holy **** I haven't acclimated yet to this heat.

I then tore apart my new import 3-jaw chuck that I picked up for my aircraft positioner so I can work on an adapter plate hopefully tomorrow morning.

Picked up a new (to me) tool . . .

June 23rd 2016 When I arrived at the BillyBob Shop, there was a parcel in the mailbox addressed to Mr. Nimrod. My brother, JR, had read last week that I was planning to re-ring BillyBob's engine before slapping the blower on the side and he sent me our Dad's ring groove cleaning tool. along with the note that it could come in handy two of three years down the road when I get to the rings. As far as we know, the last time this tool was used by our Dad was in the eighties, on this very engine, when he helped my brother freshen it. There's a certain poetry of continuity attached to this tool that may spur my efforts to shave a year or so off that time.

Took apart my dad's broken Dewalt drill and put it back together when I couldn't find anything wrong. Upon reassembly, it worked again! No idea what I did but apparently it worked.

Unboxed the new air reel, cut a 2x6 to mount it on and put a coat of white paint on it. Then I find out that I need a 2x8. :dunno:

Started to work on the rear brakes of the Mustang and couldn't get on of the fitting off. The line wrench basically slipped around it so I used vise-grips since it was already screwed up. Nope still won't come off so, I guess it gets some new lines after 30 years.

Profusely sweated even at 9am (and got itchy arms from the insulation) while installing this thermostat controlled attic fan. Just in time too because we had a major heat wave (106F) the last two days in a row.

Used a dual switch to convert a single switch in the bedroom below so as to act as the master on/off for the attic fan.

I have 4 on my house. I assume they help - been there since we remodeled. Upstairs is still pretty hot in summer. Tried a whole house fan in the attic access - cooled the house but sucked in so much dust/dirt!

I practiced cutting a bit with my new OA outfit. Got frustrated with the welding tips, I can't seem to identify a neutral flame, though I can just fine with a cutting attachment. After that I fiddled around in the "parts department", starting to think about building a dangerous and irresponsible Roman Candle gatling gun type thing.

Shouldn't be difficult. Light the acetylene, increase acetylene flow until no more smoke, gradually add oxygen until you get the neutral flame. All you're looking for is a nice tight blue cone at the tip.

We're gonna need to see you start a build thread on the garage! :) Great work on the Duck -- looks amazing. That is the true successor to the 916!

Fixed the latch on the cat treat container. It's a cheepo can that latches kind of like a Ball jar. The latch pivot was just a piece of Chineseum with the ends swaged. One of the ends wore through and the pivot pin fell out. Nothing a couple of stainless pop rivets couldn't fix.
