Impact driver (smack w/ hammer) or electric impact driver? Probably as good as other bit (Zephyr is real good), but realize it'll be a consumable item.

Thinking of a 1/4" 18v impact driver (Ryobi). I use most of the time with any bit these days. Not sure if any or some of these are impact rated. Comes down to the durability and long term wear as you say. - Paul

Alright, time to educate the new guy. These are honest questions, I'm not being sarcastic, I'm new to all this and don't know what makes them so special or sought after.

Why should I buy these? What makes them so special? Why are they worth the money?

If they're good, and you can help me understand why, then I'll pick up a set of bits and drivers, as I might need a set in the future, and buying now at a low price is better than buying in the future at a high price.

They are just really good bits, in the metallurgy and the design. The Philips bits all have extra grooves to help them bite into the fastener. With higher grades of metal they should take more torque without failing (and help resist caming out due to failure of the bit material)

I have not confirmed it, but I would assume they hold better tolerances on their bit sizes as well, so they should fit in their respective fasteners better.

FWIW, McMaster Carr sells Zephyr bits. They do not list the brand, but rest assure they are Zephyr. That is where I buy all mine from.

Either way, this is still a great deal.

Which bits are you buying from Mcmaster that are Zephyr? they had lots of different grades and I know at least some of them are not Zephyr

Got my 2 yellow bit driver handles today. They seem pretty nice, especially for the price.

Those are Piquick made from Canada for sure, similar to these:

https://www.homedepot.ca/en/home/p.super-8-plus-multi-bit-screwdriver.1000428687.html

Real good quality drivers. Real good for the price but they don't come with the bits, so have to get those separately. Back when I had a bunch of Sears points I would get the Piquicks through Sears for next to nothing. Haven't bought a thing from Sears now in about a year!

Also, those Klein like electrical combo flat/phillips drivers are good too and I think they are made by the same source as the Kleins. I got a pair of those as I didn't have any combo type driver for the electrical screws that use these. They look just like Kleins. - Paul

Well considering HD Canada has it for $23 (whatever that comes out to in $US), I guess I made out pretty good for 2 at $7.50 lol.

I was gonna put in for those screwdrivers also, but I really don't care for the combo Phillips/slotted tip.

While we're on to odd-ball screwdrivers, he has a set of 2 wood handle tri-wing screwdrivers for the same price $10.99 OBO. The only thing I know of that uses tri-wing is some Nintendo stuff

I concur, one of the best ebay sellers I have ever dealt with. Communicates, and actually knows how to package tools so they don't get lost in the mail.

Great seller, super fast shipping and also included a few freebies in my order. Word of warning though on the "Zephyr ACR Portable Pocket Driver/ 6 bit Screw Set Made In USA", the plastic bit holders have dried/shrunk and they don't stay in place rendering the whole thing useless other than the bits.

So does anyone know what else those wood handle tri-wing screwdrivers would be used on other than some Nintendo stuff? I've never seen those kind of screws

thanks, daniel, need to note that on ebay. i have 100s of tri wings, so if you guys buy multiple items i will include those as freebies. also i cannot accept offer of single purchase at $5, 6, 7 or even $8 because after shipping, ebay, and paypal fees, there is nothing left. best way is to go through the store and buy multiple stuff and i can throw in lot of freebies.

Some apple laptops take tri-wings when you disassemble to replace the batteries or to get to the heat grease / logic board. Not a common fastener on machines, though.

Wiz2001 or others,
Will the combo screwdrivers fit the screws on household outlets?
The standard ECX is a No. 1 square and slotted.

If these do fit, you might increase sales by stating these are ECX drivers on your ebay listing.
I currently use Milwaukee, as options are few.
Thanks...

Hello Wiz2001,

Received my order this week. Excellent packaging and I was surprised to see the free items. The bondus drivers are a great deal.
You should also list specials on the free Garage Journal Classifieds section and use paypal.

Welcome to the board.

Thanks again

I sent in some offers on a bunch of stuff.
The drivers must be sold out.
My offers were all accepted.
I am glad the seller posted here and gave us the run down on what he can and cannot accept and why.

Got my bits today plus some freebies. Thanks!

A note to people looking at the double ended philips bits: they do not click into a 1/4" impact driver. They fit, but the head is too long to latch. I assumed they would latch because they have a groove on both ends, but I was wrong.

I noticed that too. I think if you just use an extension though, they may be ok. I haven't done it yet. - Paul

What about grinding down one end?
