close quarters ratchet wrench

changing out a flexplate without removal of trans(FWD GTP/GTX)
can get the bolts loose and out with a long ratchet wrench
Ive seen the ratchets for close quarters that are squeeze operated
but cant remember brand,proper name etc.
I ll use this for reinstall of the new flexplate to crank bolts, with final torque
using the long flexhead ratcheting wrench.

Perhaps a short-handled & shallow, pass thru head would work?
This thing has saved my *** so many times it's not even funny.

It is the king of confined quarters wrenching.

no it doesnt operate like a ratchet
toothed gear is rotated by squeezing handle
needs to be about a ft long to even reach

sorta along those lines but it seemed like the neck was longer and narrower and the squeeze ratchet was turned 90 deg

It was bound to happen for me... I've been beat out on ebay so many times it ain't even funny!

But when you do get a deal, it's pretty dramatic (at least in my experience).

I got a like-new Matco/EZ-Red extendable 3/4" drive ratchet for 30 bucks, and i've knocked it out of the park with some Starrett finds.

Just keep at it!

Has anyone really put those tite reach extensions to the test? Generally, ratchet wrenches aren't used to break super tight fasteners loose, but if you can't reach it with anything else, will these things hold up to some heavy torque? They aren't exactly cheap, that's why I'm asking.

I haven't really beat on them since I have little faith they'll take it. But I do use them for a couple things I do regularly and they save me a huge amount of time. I'll break or tighten the fastener the ole fashion way and use these for the in between part which makes the cost of admission worth every penny.

are you looking for something similar to the kobalt double drive ratchet where you turn the handle like a screwdriver?

Not a ratchet wrench, but for transmission work I've found that the Snap On "high performance" DBEs can fit in a lot of places where nothing else will work. A friend of mine brought one over a couple years back to install the clutch fork in my T56 (since I didn't have any wrench that would fit without pulling the trans back out) and after I saw how well it worked I bought a set for myself.

I keep coming back to an open end speed wrench in my mind.
I just can't think of whether it would clear the next bolt on each side.

At the right angle, that could be a non-issue, installing then in sequence about a circle. Maybe a non-issue on a 6-bolt pattern, but a problem on an 8-bolt or 9-bolt LS pattern that's tighter?

Edit 0: with a magnetic nut holder that clips onto the wrench. Saw it earlier today on this forum; Bahco brand, posted by someone from Sweden I think. Not sure if the post was recent.
