I tried, but without success .....
thank you for your help at all

If you are intent on figuring out what it's worth, I recommend you strip the paint down to the bare metal (sandblast, paint stripper, etc) and see if you can find a manufacturer name or any other information. It looks like it needs some cleaning and new paint anyway.

Having said that, I would expect it would bring about the same as a similar vise would bring in France. In the U.S., a comparable Wilton can bring about $150 to the right person. However, a lot of that $$$ is because of the name, desirability of the Wilton "bullet" vises, and availability of parts. A no-name Wilton copy may bring 1/3 of that, or less.

Good luck.

Scott

Gilll,
Can you give some personal background on your vise?
How long have you had it?
Where did you get it?
What did the previous owner tell you about it?

I'm sure that many of us are up to the challenge of identifying your vise.

Gill - Given the vise's location in France, I'd ignore the suggestion of a Wilton influence and concentrate more on a York influence. I would be inclined to think the vise was influenced more by Eastern European design rather than Western Europe.

Hello
what brand this vice?
thank you

That type of vise is pretty common here in the Netherlands.
Probably made in the former German Democratic Republic.
It looks a lot like the vises made by "Schraubstock Zwickau".

Another one popped up on CL in Pittsburgh....asking $50

https://cleveland.craigslist.org/tls/5667761373.html
I've been watching these come through eBay. Mainly because my friend picked one up on my behalf and it doesn't really fit my collection. They have been selling for around 110 through 150 (plus shipping) in barn find condition without the drill attachment. That one isn't a terrible deal. I wish I knew of a cost effective way to ship mine.

Royce: when you said you were going to turn your fire hydrants into vise stands i had no idea how you would do so. even though i watched your layout and the first drafts you really outdid any thoughts i had of a stand that AMAZING. WELL DONE SIR!!! is almost an understatement. i bet that thing weighs close to a ton now. you might as well post the other one with the American Scale #79 too that would be the showpiece in my shop.

Chilang: nicely done

TOP: can i make a suggestion so you don't end up breaking a foot off or something else when you haul your gems home? do they sell 4x6 foot horse mats in your area? they do up here in the PNW and for $40 you could have a nice rubber floor for your pick up. unless you use your pick up for hauling dirt or hay or what not you can always throw the rubber mat on the ground except for when you go shopping. just needed a little white on the vise to make it a really Independence Day vise. nice finds

I'll second the stall mat idea. I have had one in each of my trucks for nearly 20 years now and wouldn't be without it. Not only does it protect your truck bed and precious cargo, they are really "non-slip", so somethings heavy like a vise will sit quietly and not shift around unless you hit the brakes hard.

I Will add to the board.

My 2 recent estate finds, Both parkers, my favorite.

this is a early #94 paid 40.00 at a sale

this is a 974 1/2 paid 80.00 at a sale

I leave them as I find them for now. Can get up the muster to strip and clean as they are only original once.

Awesome finds. I love my Parkers!

I'll second these comments Royce. What a neat and imaginative way to showcase a nice collection of vises. Not sure what the correct term is for it, maybe a hydrant lazy susan or a vise carousel but whatever it is I like it. I need to come up with some type of stand for all my extras...inspiring. Ed.

Help with Parker Vise...

Would appreciate feedback on approximate value. May be interested in selling.

Thanks!

Good evening! I stumbled across this forum while looking for information on a Parker vise that I've had for a number of years. I "inherited" this vise when I bought my first home in 1997 and this vise was mounted on the workbench in the shed. I've since moved and brought this vise with me. According to the stamping this is a C. Parker No. 100 and it weighs 34-35 lbs. I've searched the internet and spent some time on this forum, but I am not finding much (actually nothing) on the No. 100 model. I would very much appreciate learning more about this vise. Things like... age, it's original use, opinions on condition, potential value, is it worth restoring? Any infomation would be much appreciated.

Thanks in advance!
Mike

Mike: Here is a 1929 ad showing a Parker 100. It's from their Eclipse Series - whatever that means. It's in the lower left corner.

Re: Vise pedestal

If you are short on good sense like me, here is a way to make a pedestal out of a fire hydrant.
The second flange up from the floor works as a swivel, and with all the mass,it is smooth, with enough friction for sawing, filing or planing
I mounted one swivel jaw, one fixed jaw and one smooth jaw permanently.
The others are slated for other benches.

Royce

Awesome stand... and I just happen to have a couple of fire hydrants.

My minion found this today. Second one I've seen. I sold my last one to a GJ from this board. This one has the label and its complete.

Joe, I bought the other from you.

Searched for The Wall Vise Company on google and found nothing. Have you found anything?

Might I get a close up of the tag?

If you really really want this one back, its now red.

It is a place. Charming little industrial town in what used to be eastern Germany. Also the home of the Trabant car.

Together with the town of cheminitz part of the industrial backbone of communist eastern Germany. My ex wife was from Chemnitz.

I visited factories in Chemnitz that closed after the wall fell. All the machinery was still there. Some of it dating back to the war. Simply hadn't been worth removing it.

A restorers paradise.

Sorry for the derail.

Picked up this Fulton rotating vise tonight.

Blind
You have one of the original Fulton NuTyp vises.

Fulton went into bankruptcy in early 1922, so it looks like yours can be dated to late 1921 early 1922.

Check out the announcement:

If you are interested, I can provide links to the NuTyp patent and other info on Fulton.

I chose to pass on that wall vise. Guy wanted 150 for it and because I've been buying a RIDICULOUS number of vises and I'm buying a new lathe the 15th, I let it go. I'm hoping it doesnt sell and I can get it for my original offer. It is under Boston CL. The only way to ship that is to dismantle it and ship it as I did yours. Anyway, here's your label. I cant find a single thing on this vise anywhere..

My faves tend to be lead or wood, depending on what I'm doing.

I'l also drill out a piece of wood, and saw it lengthwise in half for round stock no-mar jaws
