Is it possible to save the images or the ebay listing ? Because in a couple days it will be gone and nobody will know what is being discussed. 42 posts about nothing !

Wow!! So what is stuff worth? Whatever the buyer and seller agree it's worth. Sure there are market prices but in Ebayville it only takes two buyers in the world with lots of dough that just have to own it...then ka-BOOM!!!!! Good thing I'm not one of them!!

More likely, you've seen an old tradition, in which people who knew the deceased will bid high when the deceased person's possessions are auctioned off

This is a way to provide some economic help for the surviving family, who would never consider accepting a 'charitable donation'.

cheers

Carla

With NOS all bets are off, but while I can appreciate Carla's thought, I see this VERY often on Eprey, and I have a more cynical view.

It's called money laundering. "sell" something for an stupid high price; it never gets actually paid for, as all three accounts are the same team.

Then your ill gotten gains have a "clean" pedigree, as you are one of the luckiest "sellers" on the planet... Multiply this by hundreds, and you are into real $$

On top of that, most Eprey sellers are "under the table" anyway, and the $$ is essentially untraceable.

To many here look at that auction and see a couple of adjustable wrenches. The bidders look at that and see a rare and collectible item that will never touch a fastener. Just as some here place a different value on a screwdriver depending on the handle color. Any area that people collect in has its own little nuances that separate the valuable from the normal. Some collectors place value on provenance, some patina, and some perfect like new. It's all what the circle decides what is valuable.

Maybe one of the bidders has a stash of them and needs high auction prices to make his collection worth more.
