Does/did Stanley offer a lifetime warranty like most other tool makers? I have a cool 1/2" drive ratchet that the switch broke on. Since I started upgrading all my tools to Snap-on and Cornwell, I've been handing down my Craftsman and other brands to my kid. I would like to get this thing in working order if they have a warranty on them. Heck I don't even know who carries Stanley. Thanks for any info.

If it was me, i would keep it and poke around at garage sales and swap meets to find a parts donor. Besides, by the time you pay the postage to mail it in, you could probably buy a pittsburgh pro, or something similar that will be just as good as what they will send you for a replacement.

Stanley owns Proto now. I just today mailed in a round head, pushbutton release nice Proto 1/2 drive ratchet. Dealer said they will probably send me an import replacement sincew parts are not availiable for that model(don't remember model number). Cost a little over $5 to mail it fro SC to Conyers, GA. Will let you know how it turns out. Phone no. for service center ia 1 800 800 8665. Not a misprint, it translates from 1 800 800 TOOLS.

For what its worth Stanley seems to favor Taiwan for the vast majority of its import tool production, not China.

Sounds like I don't even have to ship the old one back.
Snap on did that for me one time, They were supposed to send a shipping label, took a good while, but next thing you know, I had two ratchets on my porch.
Tried to get the truck to warranty one of them a while back, he just gave me some bull **** about "they all do that" They even sent the latest and greatest, 80 tooth.

I warrantied a ratchet about a year ago, friendly CS rep, shipped a new one out quickly, no need to send the old one back.

I actually kind of like the pear head I got from them, its no T72, but its miles ahead of the craftsman RP I had in my junkyard tools.

Maybe ask them for a rebuild kit for it?

Probably what I'll do, Unless you thing a Rebuild kit would be better.
Not sure, but I don't think mine is a real old one or anything.

They may not offer a rebuild kit.
called today, She was weal nice, asked me the model #, and was it silver or black, I said silver, but could I have Black, she said yes, but they were both on back order, said l could wait, or she could send me a Bostitch 3/8" Dr,
So I said that would be ok, I would try it. Said its a 72258 WBT, but I can't
find it on line.
anyone try the Bostitch tools?

I forgot to ask her about a rebuild kit.

I tried bring a few items to Grainger once and the guy there was a real d-bag about it. I even showed him the email from Proto telling me the items were covered and gave me that Graingers address to go to. The guy still wouldn't do it because I didn't buy from them and in his opinion there was nothing wrong with the tools. The needle nose pliers no longer lined up flush because of all the yanking & pulling I've done with them and the tips on my snap ring pliers were bent, but this yahoo says there's nothing wrong with them...

I get it they weren't manufacture defects and he could argue the needle nose were abused, but the rep from Stanley Proto told me they were covered. The next day I mailed them in and got brand new ones.

Just don't be surprised if they shoot you down.
