Looks like someone punched a hole in the back of that cabinet to hang it. May want to grind that down to hang it at your place.

Very Cool. Here's the patent, still searching for who made it (HG).

http://www.datamp.org/patents/search/advance.php?pn=1428840&id=50467&set=1

Twertsy:

Thanks for tracking down all this info and finding the patent info!!!

I did see something in that box where the tools were certified. However, wasn't sure if that was done by the Mfg company when new or if they required the workers to periodically certify them as being in hand, operational and with all the required items.

View media item 62072Found this ex military tool box at the scrap yard and gave £10 for it a couple weeks ago (forgot a before pic) cleaned it, removed the rust from the bottom and gave it a coat of BLO, its 2' by 7" by 7" and pretty heavy duty, 1993 vintage according the the stock stamping. Going to use it for my 3/4" stuff.

Hit a Wednesday estate sale as I had nothing to do and it looked like it might have a few garage items I could use, like pipe clamps:

Got the Pony clamps for $15 for the three, and a few wood handled scrapers and a Klein hawk bill knife:

Also found this old plane in a cabinet and got it for $10:

when cleaning up the surface rust, I found something special, cause sometimes you get lucky:

Stanley sweetheart #7 made between '25 and '28. They go for around 100-150 on the bay.:rocker:

Blue Frog, Those pliers are for installing eyelets, those metal round things in your shoes that you run the laces through.

The "inner" prong puts a hole in the shoe, then the "outer" mechanism squishes the eyelet around the hole.

I have one that looks identical, but with a different name on it.

Edit: Oops, I see the name on the other side is identical to mine. Sorry.

Thanks Jreb,

The B. Lawrence Stationery Co. was confusing to me, then the PO apparently used it for a paper punch, as there were layers of paper in the small round hole for the punch.

Here is an Estate Sale find from today. Owners weren't very prepared, (out of state), they just wanted things gone and to a person who appreciated them. Items included 3/4" Thorsen (US) socket set, nice set of drill bits, Stabil, Milwaukee right angle drill, and 1/2", some new US hole saws, 2- 1 1/4" Barcalo combo wrenches, 2-15" &1-8" Diamond alloy and 1 (real US) Crescent adjustable wrench. I had the owner give me a price on a few, and I knew his prices were good, so I made a pile and he said $50.00, I said how about $100.00 because I have to look at myself in the mirror (my 10 year old was with me). I was pretty happy.

He is a pliers that I purchased last week. It's about 16" long, and I cleaned the handles and got rid of the surface rust with electrolysis. I could barely see something maybe laser engraved, but gone after derusting, so I don't know it's manufacturer. Didn't Cooper produce some red handle tools? I paid $5.00 which isn't a great deal if it's Asian made, but I think it's US. Let me know if you have ideas on manufacturer.

I got a box full of stuff and this Craftsman ratchet was in it. It had the old style head in it that the center pin sticks up out of the end of the stud when releasing. It is missing the ball bearing that goes in the quick realse part. And the ratchet is marked REBUILT. I take it this was rebuilt by Sears but what does this mean?

Interesting day for me. I was prepping for a boat ride tomorrow but managed to get one sale in and picked up a desk of freecycle.
The sale resulted in these. 1 is the biggest back saw I have ever seen. I think it belongs with a mitre block. But it is not too bad condition and is actually pretty sharp. The handle needs some help though. $3.
Then I found these Buck Brothers chisels. Not quite the quality of older Buck Bros but for $1 apiece I think I can make something on them. I will probably keep the 2" one.

Craptian the saw does belong to a miter frame. The nice ones that have several times popped up in this thread.

I have 5 or 6 of them from 22" up to 28"; most will be 24 or 25.(toothed blade length)

John

It means it was factory rebuilt and warranty traded to a Sears customer for their broken ratchet, instead of them getting a new one from off the rack.

That's a good deal on the Simonsen box. I sold one recently for $25. Is yours a government contract? The one I sold was from a navy contract and I believe it came out of a shipyard.

Thanks Craptain. Not sure if it's a Government contract. It has the owners name riveted on a plate on top. He may have done it though.

Hit one estate sale at lunch time yesterday and found these goodies. Spent $30 total on all this.
10 License plates for my garage display.

Some good older reference manuals including a hard cover Harley book and a 1970-1978 Service Manual. A Chilton's Motorcycle Troubleshooting Guide, an Intertec 2-cycle service manual from 1972 and the Audels "New" Automobile Guide for Mechanics, Operators and Servicemen. It dates back to 1938 but this is a 1945 reprint. I love the "Knowledge is Power" slogan. Hoping my car gains some HP after reading this.

And last, $1 for the Mr. Gasket degree wheel and $2 for the Case knife sheath.

The ratty leatherette roll-up is circa 1950’s Snap-On.

20160723_125317_zpsrmpb5clr.jpg

And so are several of the pieces I found inside with 1953 or 1954 date codes, including a later nifty little Snap-On screw starter (SS-5).

The extra ignition wrenches were Bonney, Herbrand, and Crafty. The folding magnetic retriever with a pocket clip is a classic Ullman MAGIMMICK #3.

H-P, UTICA, UNITED, and MAYHEW drive pin punches.

A great day for YS scores for me! and I spent way less than $20 all told to boot! :pimpflash

And it will be a Three post day!First stop the tools were gone by thr time I got there. I did pick up a Pelican cell phone holder for a buck!

attachment.php

Second stop was mostly tools and I half expected high prices, and I wasn't disappointed for the most part. I passed on a large set of new or near new Proto wrenches ($200) and other similarly high priced "finds"

I saw a very drab box near the exit and opened it up. Hmmm; Based on the prices I've seen so far, do I ask about the whole box, or try to cherry pick? I decided to go for the former "$5".

I quietly close the box up and slowly get $5 out of my wallet. By the way the box is broken inside so the cantilever trays needed help to move, but I bought it anyway... More on this later

Note the box had had the side hasps added, and the handle is NOT original...

attachment.php

Next stops were a Block sale; lots of streets but the houses were like one per street generally, and well spread out: Fist of those got me a NOS Moen Bath Faucet for $7:

attachment.php

The following stop I paid $1 for this unfinished art, and yes that is being carved in a Toilet seat lid... But was too cool to leave.

attachment.php

Same place, the Lady gave me these magazines after telling me that If I were into making doll houses, to "please just take these and the cardboard drawers full of doll and doll house making stuff" It was Ironic, as as my oldest daughter just last night showed me some pics and told me she wants to make a Victorian wood doll house...

attachment.php

More on the next post...

Private, love the old Blue Point ^

I went out to the flea and it was looking like a total bust and then there they were. One guy came through for me with a new box of tools he brought. A few odd things were in there too.

Pic 1- Extensions

3/8 Duro Chrome

1/4 S-K locking extension. I love that it will lock a socket on, but the female square has no detents inside it for a ratchet :wtf: Drop the whole extension I guess.

3/8 AC Extensions. I assume they are AC Delco brand :dunno:

Pic 2 - AC EXTENSIONS

Pic 3- Williams seconds wrench with the logo cut off. Only says WILLIAM.

Mac raised lettering combo wrench.

Plomb pliers.

Pic 4 - Plomb pliers logo

Pic 5 Some odd sockets.

Truth Mankato 1/2 drive and WIX 3/8 drive swivel. This is a new one to me. I think they were branded for Wix Filters.

Pic 6 &7- Wix socket logo

And The "main Event" the contents of the tackle box. Its obvious why the Box was "built up" but it didn't help the trays last...

You can see the trays on the left side badly settled and one is broken. I'd guess some one gave the box a drop, and that was it with all the weight...

attachment.php

This is what I'd been seeing and why I bought the box complete:

attachment.php

Lots of wrenches, and all I'm seeing are Metric...

attachment.php

And what it all translated to:

Two complete sets of SO Metric from 10mm to 22, and short pattern from 10mm to 19. No skips in either set! SO lists these at $920 and $370 respectively! :rocker:

attachment.php

attachment.php

Apparent;y this was someone's "Metric tools" as only a few sockets were not Metric:

Proto sockets from 8mm to 19mm - no skips

Long ratchet is Mac, short is Bonney as are near all of the chrome Extensions, with 3 swivel extensions in the set. Impact ext. are SO, Breaker is Proto, Hex drive are 1/2" drive and all SO, and the "long" one is 3/8 and 10MM. the shorty extension adn sparkplug socket are SO, The Impacts are MAC. Some Bonney adapters, three Indestro in SAE in back on the left and one 13/16 Craftsman.

attachment.php

Proto Adjustable, 2 Bonney drivers & Duckbills, Stubby's are Xcelite, Proto 1/4" flex driver, MAC solid 1/4" driver, the two Multi tips are Magna Driver Corp, one marked "Cleco", A magnetic extendable pick up tool and a Screw starter...

attachment.php

Everything, including the broken box, for $5!

Outlaw You reeled in a great haul there! Very nice!

Yes this ratchet is Penens production I believe, like Fleet. I see these C tools from time to time but I have seen different theories on what brand they are.
