My snap on guy had the same thing, forget what I paid, but he said corporate wanted all the trade in ratchets for like an experiment or test of some sort

Edit: he said they're gonna make a video of some sort.

I´m happy to tell you, guys, that I have bought a Gedore R1500L tool-cabinet in prestine order in the Netherlands; now it must be transported to France (ca 600 km) It is without the hooks (the euro hole system, 10 x 38 mm) These hardware, 87 pieces, are expensive!
If it has arrived, and my tools, mostly Facom, some Gedore, some Hazet, some Stahlwille, some Snap-On, are hung, i will send in some photo´s

Co-worker brought in some of his chains, one of them being a 3/8"x30' chain. He didn't want it that long and wanted to cut it down. I told him the K12 saw would cut it with the steeel blade. He told me if I cut it down and move the hook to the shorter section, I could have the other section.

Deal. I now have a new section of 3/8" chain 15' long with new hows for less than $15.

He also needed another chain fixed. He bought the repair link and I'm going to weld it today.

Wow. Please rethink think this.

That looks like a sling for lifting. None of those repair links are rated for lifting or doing anything critical. Chains for lifting have to be at least grade 80 and they have to have a tag.

You need to buy some hammer lock chain fittings from someone like McMaster Carr. They are load rated and acceptable for lifting.

Also, it looks like you stuck some grade 70 hardware store hooks on that grade 80 chain. OK for transport, not OK for lifting.

The inside of one of those sockets looks a hair different than the rest. I hope you call SK and demand a full refund.

(I hope you see the humor)

CTR761B. I like the MAC one but working in an engine bay that extra inch in length is a hindrance. Its an optical illusion that the MAC head looks smaller, they're all basically the same size though the MAC one is sealed.

And a large 1/4 drive set of Turbosockets. Worth their weight in gold when a bolt ceases to be a hexagon. I use the 3/8 deep set all the time, invaluable.

Picked a seat of these gear wrenches at Sears last weekend. I received an email with a free $14 on any purchase over $30. Plus Sears was running the friends and family discount (10% off) so i slipped out of there with these for about $30. Now I need to find some quality wrench holders to store them, all the ones at Sears where plastic and that made me a little nervous, my other holders are all metal.

I haven't posted in this thread since I became a member of GJ. I haven't gotten any new tools until today. Been playing with Sheet Metal for 36 years now and decided it is time to try my craft at machining.

Our company decided to buy a VMC for our tool room and I asked the question if we buy 2 will they give us a discount. Long story short they would and I told our buyer I would advise him on if I would want one for my home shop. Well it fell off my radar screen until this morning when the riggers showed up with 2 machines. I asked our buyer what the heck? He said when I didn't hear back from you I assumed you wanted it.

Well I guess I am going to be a machinist now.

My original plan was to get a Water Jet in the next couple of months for the home shop and do the VMC later on. Well plans can and will change. All is good...Water Jet next year.

View media item 62071Got this old 1/2" SK SAE set off ebay for £31
All I have done is cleaned it, its all in nice shape and useable. Its complete per the listing apart from a multibit screwdriver.
We don't have much SK over here and I usually import it but shipping would kill the deal on a 1/2" set

The local tool store that has been in business for 37 years is closing its doors Saturday because the owner is retiring. The discount is really steep and as much as I hate to see it go, I did take advantage of the 70% off.

IMG_20160721_220626.jpg

Here's what $375 dollars of retail looks for $110. I got everything for about what that 1" annular cutter goes for.

I may go back Saturday AM and grab some SK sockets if there is a kit left.

The one connector on the sling ring is OK, but the shiny cold shut is not. And there's no load tag.

One job I had to do was to go through the whole shop and confiscate all of the **** chain slings that the techs had in their boxes. They could take them home if they wanted. In return, we issued two certified adjustable slings to each tech. This came about after an incident where a sling supporting a powertrain and front subframe broke. The tech on the job wasn't physically hurt, but it tore his coveralls off his body on the way past. I was about ten feet away at the time.

The larger 3/8" is mine. It won't do any lifting and might not get used much at all. I have some other chains. I just didn't want to pass up a nice section of 3/8" for a few minutes of labor. Spending less than $15 for the hooks made it worthwhile for me.

The smaller chain is my co-workers. He got it from his FIL. He won't do any lifting with it I believe, just yard work and clean up. The most he would lift (if he did) would be maxed by his small 2300 series Kubota front bucket a few feet in the air onto a trailer. He just wanted to be able to use the chain again and have a small chain around his place if needed.

Reminds me of this multi wrench that a friend gave me years ago. He picked it up at the "100 Yen store" while visiting Japan. Lol.
