I suspect that it's like stick shift cars. Those that like 'em really like 'em and are vocal about it but there's just not enough demand to make it worth making them.
I was extremely surprised when they discontinued Teal; just about every mechanic in town had a Teal box.

I'm surprised they would discontinue ANY color option. I understand they don't want a warehouse full of boxes in a color that doesn't sell, so I can see having "standard" color options in stock and then they should have other colors available, even if at an extra charge. Some of the no longer listed colors are still possible to order for an add-on item, like a side locker. I have something on order like that right now.
I like manual transmissions and cranberry tool boxes, so there.

Snap-on does not warehouse boxes
The vast majority are made to order, hence the lead time.
yes - Green Micah to match Senior EpiqToolman confirmed order this week when he was here, saying it was not kicked out of the system for non-standard color code, so looks like it should show up green.
When was the last time the cranberry was listed / sold? 'Cuase I believe they have a time rule on availability of accessories to match. I think it's 8 years or something. That's what the R&R Toolbox rep told me and why he put my Baby Epiq order in for the green, since the main box was bought that way 3 years ago.
They may not stock up much, but you know they do some 'cause you can order a popular / standard color and have it arrive in little more than the time it takes for truck freight to ship it. The first red KRL I bought was ordered on Wednesday and arrived Friday...tell me that ain't "in stock".....
You bought a common color that was almost certainly part of a huge promotion.
You also got lucky.
Snap-On does not warehouse tool storage.
It'd only be common sense for them to warehouse the most common colors I would think? My dealer keeps several in his barn
and secondly, it never fails, when I have a green box on the truck somebody wants an orange one!Snap-On's tool storage facility is mainly just-in-time production. Tool storage units are easily damaged and there is a lot of air in the volume occupied. From an industrial engineering standpoint, it does not make economic sense for Snap-On to warehouse tool storage.
There is very little room at our tool storage facility in Algona Iowa to store more than a few days worth of production, hence, we do not warehouse tool storage.
I typically do not have much in stock at any one time. For one thing, I sell it quicklyand secondly, it never fails, when I have a green box on the truck somebody wants an orange one!
I have some colleagues who stock several hundred thousand dollars in tool storage. I won't give up room in my shop for unsold boxes.
My dealer probably isn't your typical dealer. He runs 4 trucks just his truck is a platinum (sp?) truck. He stocks quite a bit in his barn lol

Maybe not in Algona, but I'll bet the distribution centers in other regions order in stuff they know will sell ahead of time. That's a form of "in stock" if those are not customer orders in my book. The box I got fast came from a SO regional center in PA -- I remember the dealer telling me "It's in (whatever distribution center that is -- Harrisburg, maybe) ready to go if you buy it!" Does that regional place not belong to the SO corporate chain? If not, then sure, someone else is "stocking" boxes, but I'll bet SO owns the whole chain prior to the local dealers tool-truck......
