Gotta couple baby bullets and a 2.5" bullet to share. I'm still messing with the 2.5" colors and cannot seem to get it right just yet. The casting had a lot of small pits in it so decided I'd paint it a flat black to hide the imperfections. They all make nice portable vises.

What is the going price for a Morgan Milwaukee 38A in decent shape? I know a guy who wants to sell me one for $120. He says the jaw are 4.5 inches. I haven't seen it yet.

Roberts: i'm not familiar with that # for a Morgan so do you have any pictures? i'd say if it's in great shape $120 is a decent price for an old 4.5 inch vise. post up some pictures if you can and maybe we can help more. is it a bolt thru or any idea of the age?

EDIT: i just googled Morgan 38a and here's what i found so if the vise is in this condition or better and this is a 38a then YES you will be doing well paying only $120 for it. also looks like you can use this vise with or without it's swivel base because there are 3 holes on the static to mount it as a non-swiveler.

Thru: nice looking BABIES and interesting power arm on the middle one. if you can't get the color right just take all of the old color off and put some BLO on it and have a Naked Baby. thanks for posting

Thanks Drivesitfar. I don't have pictures. The guy who is selling it doesn't have a camera and I didn't bring mine today.

Wilton 450SJ. Presented with hammer marks, homemade horse shoe retainer, missing **** plug etc. Disasembled and wire wheeled. Filed and sanded high spots, casting boogers etc. Got some NOS jaws and a new horse shoe from Autopts on Ebay (thanks!). Sprayed with Hammerite Hammered Mid Green. Made some nuts from 3/4" hex stock on my drill press and used a Delta lathe wrench for the lock down. Used a Fulton grease cap for a plug. It didn't fit well so I waffled it a little with a Whitney hand punch. Screw got Mobil wheel bearing grease and all other contact points got Permatex Ultra disc brake caliper lube.

Roberts: that style vise has it's uses so hope you get it and have pictures to post up. good luck

Bob: how wide is you great looking old Wilton SJ (swivel jaw). EDIT: we posted at the same time so guess your jaws are 4.5 and every else is WOW. nice job spiffing it up and also filling in the blanks and letting us know what you did. WELL DONE!!

72: yep, but Bob might have been in LA on business and some of the members take empty suitcases with them for just this kind of stuff. :D the bolt/pin on Bob's looks a bit different so guessing the one you saw is still out there either going to get posted here, on Ebay or set up on a shelf.

Awesome job on the vise. Where did you get the jaws? I am in need of new jaws or I go copper and make them.

Got them from Autopts (member on here). KMscott (also a member on here) makes his own and sells on eBay. Saw on your vise thread you didn't like the finish on your tail piece. The Fulton grease cap will cover the rough casting.

How much does it **** when you find an 8 inch vise but the seller is terrible at communicating, so you give up? I'm hoping one of the fellow garage journal members buys it.

If he has the swivel base for it I'd consider buying it. But you're right he's got terrible communicating skills

And it looks like some damage on the jaw towers. I noticed it's an early union/Parker model based on the jaw design.

Looks pretty crusty but the price is right, from what I can see the jaws look like lower usage.
What's a good way to determine if it's fpu vs the India copies? I've never seen one in person

I just grabbed this Parker for $20. I plan to clean it up and put it back to work. Any idea where to find a replacement handle?

GJ member KMScott makes these. I bought one for one of my Wilton bullets. Very nice stuff at a reasonable price.

I sold it to Phy6, he drove from Maryland to Michigan for it... Good Dude!
I haven't seen him on here in ages...:dunno:

Here's the page he posted his visit to Michigan...

Took a couple of pics of my Reed vise. I gave $2 or $3 for a workbench years ago, and this was attached to it. I scrapped everything but the metal legs and the vise, then built a nice 6ft bench out of it. No idea of the age of the vise, but it works great.

Found a clamp on vice that appears to have Parkinson and Son cast into it. It's a bit hard to read so I could be wrong, it's a heavy ******.
