I do have photos and video. My wife took them with her phone and tried to get them off of her phone but my computer wouldn't recognise her phone and she had to go to work. I'll try later tonight.

Snip....... Only problem was whem I pulled into my driveway and turned the truck off it puked anti-freeze out of the overflow tube.

Lets hope you didn't cause any damage from overheating the engine. (cracked head or head gasket) it would be a real bi*ch to cause thousands in damage while trying to save a hundred bucks. Fingers crossed. :dunno:

Hopefully not but it seemed to work OK later on. Well, as good as it did before the trip. It was running a little rough before mainly, i think, because it has been used in a while. Ill go through it now that it's at my new shop.

Well since everything turned out well, I'll share my forklift on a trailer experiences....

I sold a 5,000 pneumatic tire lift and the guy showed up with an old car trailer. It looked janky to me, but he wanted to load it. The lift crashed right through the decking as soon as he came to a stop. Luckily it was in a position to tow with the four wheels hanging down below the deck and he just went with it. I have NO idea how he ever got that lift off the trailer, but it was a good lesson.

Another time I tried to move an electric 2500 lb. order picker on a gooseneck, steel decked, 14K rated, equipment trailer. It bent the steel decking down 3" into valleys because the supports under the decking were on 2' centers. That little adventure cost me three days work, $800 in steel, and a lot of paint and misc materials. It was a friends trailer and I wanted it better than new when it went back so I repaired it the way it should have been to start with.

Anyway, bottom line, I was stupid and I should have just hired a forklift mover in the first place.

You guys should take the advice offered on this thread.

So what advice should he be looking at and what is the moral of this story?

A 5000lb "capacity" lift truck weighs in the 10-13,000 lb range. A 2500lb capacity order picker weighs in the range of 7-9000lb. People in my industry ( lift trucks) often confuse capacity with truck weight.

Just the battery in an electric truck can weigh 2500-3000 lbs. the same weight as a basic Honda Civic.

Yup that was about the size of it, I was aware of the weight and the trailer could handle it and did. The problem as mentioned earlier is the point loads these put on a trailer. Those small tires with all the weight concentrated just stretched the tread plate.

I'm glad the OP drove it instead of trailering and hopefully anyone else reading might avoid the same headaches.
