Well since everything turned out well, I'll share my forklift on a trailer experiences....
I sold a 5,000 pneumatic tire lift and the guy showed up with an old car trailer. It looked janky to me, but he wanted to load it. The lift crashed right through the decking as soon as he came to a stop. Luckily it was in a position to tow with the four wheels hanging down below the deck and he just went with it. I have NO idea how he ever got that lift off the trailer, but it was a good lesson.
Another time I tried to move an electric 2500 lb. order picker on a gooseneck, steel decked, 14K rated, equipment trailer. It bent the steel decking down 3" into valleys because the supports under the decking were on 2' centers. That little adventure cost me three days work, $800 in steel, and a lot of paint and misc materials. It was a friends trailer and I wanted it better than new when it went back so I repaired it the way it should have been to start with.
Anyway, bottom line, I was stupid and I should have just hired a forklift mover in the first place.
You guys should take the advice offered on this thread.
