Re your attempt to post an image hosted at Imgur -

Update. I guess Imgur is dead to Garage Journal for hosting because GJ has a classified section. Not sure I understand why that matters, but here is the email thread with Imgur CS.

Hi there Sixfeet4,

Within our TOS, we do not allow the usage of imgur as a content delivery network on any site that has a section dedicated to selling. This is considered advertising. (much like eBay is blocked as well).

I do apologize for this inconvenience.

4 cars? you have all mini coopers?

^^^This^^^
What are you driving currently?
24 X 30 isn't big enough for 4 cars, not even close. For four cars, with room to open doors and actually work on anything, you will be looking at 30 x 40 minimum. Even then you will be tight if you plan on any kind of storage along side the vehicles.
Measure what you are driving now.
Open the doors and measure how wide the vehicle is, add 4' to that number. Now measure how long it is, add 4' to that number. Multiply both numbers by two. That will be your minimum barn size to store and work on 4 vehicles.
If you ever get anything bigger then what you are now driving the equation goes out the window. :)
Mark.

30 is too narrow. 36 minimum to work on 2 wide and be able to put a tool box or bench along the wall. A 30x40 is really a 2 car garage.

My usual advice - go get a bundle of grade stakes and a 1000' roll of nylon twine. Stake out the building at a location, including doors, etc. Use the string to lay out the walls, leaving the door openings. Drive/park your junk in the box and see. Laying it out on the ground quickly sorts out what works and what doesn't and saves graph paper LOL.

My car parking area is 24x28 - I can get two 16' long door cars and a dragster in there, with space for a small riding 33" cut mower. That's a Mustang and a Falcon. Our F150 is 19' long and the F250 is 20' long, so 30' deep isn't enough unless it's MGs or Beetles.

It's a no brainer. Go as large as you can afford and locate it where access is best. Whatever you end up with will be the best you can have and you will have to settle for the final results. Staking out the proposed building will reveal the realities of your choices.

Agreed with above.
I have a 24' x 29' and my diesel truck and Tahoe fit with little room to work with.

here is speeds picture.

I agree that 24x30 is to small unless you plan to just jam 4 cars in there. If you have to start at that size build into your plans an easy avenue to extend the building in the future. Closer to the house is usually better.

i got a 24 x30 and it barely enough room for one car, toolboxes, air compressor welders take up space. my lift is outside due to no room. 36 x 30 is good for two cars, also you need a minimum of 12 feet at the eaves, 14 would be better

unfortunately money will dictate the size, and it will be too small.

If you want a garage to park and work in.

guidelines as I see them from experience. to park a car, pretty much any car you need 12 foot of width, to add a second car beside it you need another 9' and so on. Unless you start playing with extended cab pickups you should have 30' of depth to park your car or truck and have room in front for benches, tools, and working space.

I get away with 12' of height and it's good 90% of the time, but if I did it again they would be 14' high.

Doors, you should have at least one door as tall as the ceiling will allow, and all door widths should be 10'.

PS. I forgot to add, put it as close to the boundary as possible so you have room to add on when you get older and money is no longer an issue. I actually bought to small a lot, and have no room to enlarge now that I can afford it. And I hate moving.
