I guess this is as good a place as any to post this.

Last year my secret santa got me a set of thread files. Well today just about 11 months later I finally used them and they saved the day.
I had to put a used ( I know ) front suspension on a Camry. Well the junk yard guys more than a few times dropped the suspension on the wheel studs. None of the log nuts would start.
A few moments with my handy dandy thread files and bam !!!!!!!! I was back in business.
So who ever was my secret santa last year THANK YOU once again. I appreciated you a year ago and I appreciated you again today.

Secret Santas are not reciprocal, meaning the member you are Secret Santa for is not necessarily your Secret Santa (Completely random, but it may happen). That night, (or the next morning) We will PM you back with who you are the Secret Santa for.

Sounds legit! I would think successfully secret santa-ing multiple years in the past should probably be enough to qualify.

It's not that I hate doing it, I just don't have much to say. Same IRL.

The qualification used to be being a member here for at least a year and that's how I participated the first time. Then I guess since I had successfully done it the previous year I was allowed the next. However, I do see we are under new management so I understand the caution as well as the loss of previous records. ...17 to go.

From my perspective I think the 100 post rule also gets at least a start on "who is this person" and "what are they into?" Hard enough to do a gift for a stranger; harder still if you know nothing about their likes/dislikes...

I was SS for someone who spent most of their time in Free Parking. Not a lot of help there!

I suggest spending some time in the main threads for tool boxes, Vises Garage sales, particular tools you like - etc. there are lots of ongoing threads on a lot of topics, and if nothing else, say what you like, or what your preferences are when things come up.

Heck simple comments in the garage sailing thread like "gee, I'd love to find one of those *** you just found!" tell a story...
