It's been a while, but I have a minor update. The siding and gutters were finished a while ago. I've been using the shop to fabricate my driveway gate (more on that in the future) and it's been a great work space! Unfortunately my garage door assembly still hasn't arrived so I have been moving all my tools back and forth (keep in the house for safekeeping) which is becoming a pain.
The slab finally hit the 30 day full cure last week, so this weekend I was able to put my coating on. I went with Rust Bullet for the perceived easier prep and lower cost. After doing the process I think I would go epoxy next time. The Rust bullet went down easily but the multiple coats with cure time in between really dragged the process out. I started at 11 am and didn't get the final clear on until 2:30 AM. Ambient temps were right around the lower limit for the product (35° F) which definitely didn't help the cure time.
I used plastic sheeting across the door and some electric heaters to bring the garage temp up (prob got it to ~50° F).
Aliens? It must be aliens
I didn't take many pics during the process, but got a few after the second base coat of RB was down with the flakes. I put a clear coat on top of this that I'll get pictures of today.
Overall I'm happy with the finished RB result. Brush strokes were definitely apparent until I put the flake down, so if I wanted a solid color I would probably look elsewhere. We'll see how well it wears.
