I thought some of you might be interested in checking out Midwest tool's website. Basically all their tools are still made in USA.

If you browse their catalog and then complete the 'Midwest University' course, which doesn't take long - you can get some goodies.

I did this about a month or so ago and as far as I know it is still active. At the time I completed it you had the option of selecting a free gift such as a Scratch Awl, T-Shirt and maybe a few other things.

Just in case anyone is interested...

FYI: I just completed one of the 3-part video courses & here are the "Graduation Gift" options they offer.

Gift Choices (Choose One):
Midwest Tool® Made in U.S.A. T-Shirt
Midwest® Scratch Awl
Midwest® Logo Bumper and Tool Box Sticker Set
Midwest® Quick Mark & Measure Scribe

Available while supplies last, a substitute product will be sent if your choice is no longer available.

Thanks OP. Apparently this is getting a lot of hits and they are running out of freebees (while supplies last). I had to complete 2 course before the free stuff offer appear. Now there is only tshirt and the scratch awl (no complain here).

I don't know if this is for real but I am not even in the trade. Little luck does not hurt either. Had to share:rocker: I do have the 3 standard snip at home that are USA made I bought at Lowes a while back but don't remember if they are Midwest brand or another USA brand.

Just went back to take the "101 & 102" courses & no gift was offered upon completion.
Not sure if it's 1 per account, or if they ran out. But just a FYI.

Thanks OP for posting this link. I have been in contact with Rita Lowery, Customer Service Manager at Midwest. She asked that I post an email I received from her that may assist fellow members who have taken the courses at Midwest University or who are contemplating taking the courses.

"We have received so many notifications from people that have completed the course in the last two days! J

I read some comments on the thread in Garage Journal’s message board about our courses stating we have run out of the free gifts. If you could let your group know that we have not run out of anything (but our tshirts are available in only Large and XLarge) I would really appreciate that.

I also read some comments that some members of your group that completed the course have not been able to complete the form for their gifts. There is a link on the page that pops up after they complete the course that takes them to a page to complete for their gift. They may have to scroll down a bit to see that. This is a very conspicuous link, so just have them look for that.

I have attached the email from our marketing guy that has a screenshot of the ordering page.

I process these requests, so please also let them know that I’m working hard to get all the requested goodies on the way. Hope to have everything out by end of next week.

Please feel free to just copy and paste all this info on that thread if you’d like.

Garage Journal looks like a great forum! Again, thank you for taking the time to complete our course and for your loyalty to Midwest Tool and the Midwest Snips® brand. We really do appreciate that.

I’m happy to help answer any other questions the members of your group may have.

Wishing you and yours a very Happy Thanksgiving!"

Kind regards
Rita Lowery

Thanks for posting zer0cell

Yes, thanks!

As for not seeing the link to the goodies, it's easy to miss. After the last step in the course, under the video, there'll be a gold background button that says:
Congratulations! Click here for your Graduation gift!!
Right under that is the green background button that says Mark Complete.

If you missed it, it looks like you can go back to courses, click on the info for the course, and if everything is checked, click on the Congratulations slide, and get back to the link.

Midwest makes the best snips! l may be a sucker for old Wiss Inlaid scissors at garage sales (they're SO worth resharpening as opposed to all the **** scissors in stores today), but nobody can hold a candle to Midwest's aviation snips. Especially the upright snips. It's the little details that make the biggest difference in these sort of things. Like the fact that Midwest uses a threaded pivot bolt locked in with a nut. That may not seem like much, BUT being used in that way means that less length of the pivot bolt is allowed to stretch, which actually makes a big difference when you're cutting steel.

Glad you all seem to like the deal. I got the awl and it's a nice little thing. :)

Midwest's customer service seems good too by that letter!

Out of 321 people that took the test, I was ranked 1st with a score of 100% while they say the average score is 84%.

I picked the scratch awl as well.

Look at post #9. How could 2 people come in first?😛

Sorry Rita for spreading the false rumors of low supplies🙈

I did not see that. I thought the test were overly simple and odd that I got that notification. Still learned a few things from it...

Just curious if promotions like these encourage people to try their other products. I for one own at least a dozen of their tools... all USA made.

If anyone is interested, Sears.com has the 2 piece off set snips on sale for $24.99 (normally $39.99). Just search for 'midwest snips' and you should see it...

Has anyone else received their free goodies yet?

Yes! I got my scratch awl and scribe tool on Saturday.

That scribe tool looks like it's going to come in quite handy (possibly more for woodworking than metalwork), and now I have something to plug the hole in the bottom of my Midwest snips handle.

Thanks did you ever receive a shipping notification or did just show up in your mailbox? Their snips are great, far better than Wiss.

I did get a shipping notification email. The goodies came in a hand addressed manilla envelope, so I'd have a little patience. Looks like one person is handling it all.

Got my awl too. I'm going to order some of the snips just because of the promotion and the companies response here

Got my scratch awl fast. Like 2 days after filing in the info fast. I think most of the snips we have are from midwest. Ill definitely make sure and get their products on the future.
