Finally found time to finish up a custom pen order that had been waiting for a few months. This repeat client bought his wife a Bright yellow Maserati and wanted a pen to match. I had a carbon fiber with yellow weave blank cast and paired it up with black chrome hardware for a nice looking pen:

Then I finished up a couple "stock" pens for those last minute Xmas gift orders:

Well its a mix of all mentioned, my dad bought it new early 80's and he always brushed remaink g snow off before storing it in the heated garage, i tool the habit of doinv the same when i was old enough to use it and he gave it to me this summer as he sold the house. It looks a tad newer in the picture since i rubbed hr down in wd40 but she sirw does look good for the work she has done, we have had some pretty gnarly snow over the last 30 winters.

Finished installing a new timing belt / water pump kit in my neighbor's '03 Tundra 4.7L V8.

Thing fought me every inch of the way. 14yrs, 140k mi, don't think any of the bolts had ever been removed. And their steel was so mild I had to buy some fresh 6-pt tools to keep from making a mess of things with my older worn 12-pt stuff.

original plugs to, with center electrode greatly worn / sloped. And hard to get out, with a ring of carbon built up on their last couple threads inside the cylinder. Had to work them back and forth and shoot some penetrating oil down there and let them soak, to break that up and not gall or strip the threads in the aluminum head.

One other bit, I could not get the crank pulley bolt loose. Tried all sorts of things, three different impacts, etc. Torch heat. Chilling the bolt. Nothing. Got down to two last methods -
1) pull the flywheel inspection plate and jam it with a pry bar so I could get a big breaker / cheater on the nut, or
2) breaker and cheater on the crank bolt, with the cheater wedged against the underside of the passenger side frame rail, and bump the starter. That's the one that worked, plainly heard the 'tung' as it broke loose. Spinning totally free and easy. Should have started with that technique, instead of screwing around for a full day with other methods.

Been there. *****. You say after everything works out that you shoulda started there, but in the beginning, at least if your me, you worry about breaking a ring gear tooth or snapping the starter. Holy run on sentence.

Ya know every outlet past the first GFCI has the same protection as the GFCI. You could purchase a GFCI breaker and have the same result. All the outlets on that branch circuit would then be protected against a ground fault.

I knew you knew that ya know. :rocker:

Yep, I have 5 circuits just for outlets going on in my garage. each wall has its own circuit 3, the bendpak lift has its own and then the exterior outlet has its own.

A bitter cold day in Georgia...go ahead and laugh Yankees! I finished a couple of little projects and one of them was modifications to this Waterloo roll around cabinet. This cabinet was on sale at Lowes for $50 around Thanksgiving. Using links in the "hot deals" section of this forum, I found a % off and ended up out the door for around $37.00. I also used the "hot deals" for the link to the Craftsman butcher block top and with some points I had accumulated it was $13.00 out the door. Harbor Freight sent me a coupon for their flip up shelf so $19 and change. The final addition was a Harbor Freight 18" magnetic strip on the opposite side which was one of the free with purchase items. This little cabinet is going to the farm, but I wish I had bought another one to use as a printer stand in my office.
Regards,
John

Finally got around to installing (test fitting) the backup camera for the Merc.

I will play with it over the weekend once I get my ballast for the projector retrofit I am completing as well. Hardest part of entire process was running the cable from the front to the back. But once the rear seats/insulation/foam, center console, trunk lining were out it made it much easier.

Wish I knew someone that did painting because I'd have the exterior of the camera painted to match the car. I have a large bottle of touch up paint but can almost guarantee that would look like *** as soon as you got close to it...

Way back when I had just started rebuilding totals I rebuilt a Toyota Starlet. I traded my brother his 260 Z 2+2 and some cash for the Starlet. Anybody ever heard of a Toyota Starlet? I wish I had one now since the office is 40 miles from the house. Amazing gas mileage. Anyway, the 260 Z was way more fun to drive. Had some aftermarket carbs and aftermarket exhaust. That sucker would move.
But I was always more partial to the 240's. I am jealous. I would love to find one to restore.
Nice car. Please keep us informed of your progress on the car.

Thanks, yeah i love it. searched for a long time to find one not completely destroyed by rust. this one came from Nevada. The engine is out and currently being disassembled and parted out. the new motor is the one wrapped in the plastic bag in the background.

That's an RB26DETT, they came with twin turbo's as in two, most people swap to singles and loose the stock intake as they use 6 tb's in favor of the single found on the RB25. It's not a drop in swap but there are bolt in kits available. the RB is an evolution of the L6 that came in the Z cars, the RB head will even bolt to the L6 block (unfortunately oil and coolant passages do not line up).

Not only have i heard of a starlet, I had one, and ruined it ;) bought from a buddy, was gonna mount a ford 2.3 turbo in it, cut the firewall and a just couldnt make it fit the way I wanted and eventually scrapped the car which was a good solid chassis, but came with no engine when I bought it.

I added an outlet on the far side of the garage attic so I can vacuum the place up without using an extension cord. I also discovered and fixed an intermittent open circuit in the box where I pulled power.

Nice! I have been wanting to add a 20 amp outlet in the garage for my compressor and another under the stairs for my TWC Modem/Directv Modem.

***Today I grabbed my blower and blew out the leaves/dust from my garage.

Try to organize the "kaos" in my garage........
I hade a small dustbin to put all short lenghts of metal material that has been left over, the dustbin was always in the way and when touched it did fall and spread everything on the floor and if I try to lift it away it always stick a pipe in my nose, etc, etc.....
Time to do progress!

Took 110mm PVC pipes, cut 5pcs in 50cm lenght, cut 10pcs in 25cm lenght.
Welded a frame of angel iron, mounted 4 wheels and put a plywood panel in it.
Glued the 5 long ones in the middle and the short ones on both sides of them.
Put a steel band around all of them just for to get more strenght.

Got 15 holders that holds the material almost straight up:)
As a bonus there is 8 more holders between the long pipes and the short ones.
And as an extra, extra bones I got 12 material holders between the short pipes and the steel band:):)
A total of 35 ways to organize my material! And its movable l I like it!

Just some painting left to do, the rack is gonna be babyblue colour.
Hope you can understand my old school English....

Spark plugs and oil change for the Jeep. Makes winter starts a lot easier I'm guessing.

Gap on the plugs was not too bad for being copper plugs with ~30,000 on them.

Just noticed the turbos on the right ... 1200 whp motors. Going to be a fun straight line ride. But they are big and heavy ... I was going to buy a local guys R32, with same motor I believe, years ago ... but he totaled it.

I finally finished the enormous pain in the *** exhaust repair from hell on the Explorer. It involved broken bolts, removing both manifolds, replacing an EGR pipe, and repairing an o2 sensor harness. I also involved me having to buy a lot of new tools to get it done, including an oxy-acetylene torch setup (although I'm using propane instead of acetylene), so I guess the bright side is I have more tools to play with. I also had to buy a cheap 17mm wrench and cut it in half to access a nut I had to tighten.

I have been considering converting my oxy-acetylene torch to propane. What is needed for the switch?

I unloaded two new tool boxes, one for me and one for my father in law. My great wife found this deal and decided that I needed one also!!!!!!!!!!!
Husky 52 in. 18-Drawer Tool Chest

http://www.homedepot.com/p/Husky-52-in-18-Drawer-Tool-Chest-and-Cabinet-Set-Black-HOTC5218B1QES/204344321?

File_000.jpg:thumbup:

This is what it will look like.

What was the great deal? Were they cheaper than 598$?

Went through 4 ratchets at the shop while enjoying the wood stove heat.

Went through as in clean and lube?

As for my garage: Amazingly spent like... 4 or 5 hours cleaning/rearranging it (I can't believe it's midnight already). My girlfriend came out and I asked her to just like... fix it. It was a disaster out there I could barely move. I don't know how to clean or organize so she did it and I just put things where she told me to or reigned it in if she thought something should go somewhere really weird. Also hung two new 4' LED shop lights.

View media item 65704
View media item 65705The new shop lights messed with the panorama stitching so that's why there's the weird jagged line to the right of the miter saw.

Huh... it doesn't even look that different! It is still a mess but it's a lot better out there now. I can actually move around and not trip over stuff. I won't dread going out there tomorrow!

Hunted a MIL on the Caravan that appeared to be the gas cap not properly seated. I was surprised at its persistence. We did due dilgence and looked for bad hoses, etc, but everything was in great shape. We'll see if it comes back on over the next couple days. There was, however, a gotcha, in the form of a cracked Y connector in the heater hoses. It blew coolant all over everything during the obligatory test drive to Mickeyville. A trip to Advance with $100 got us a hose set, coolant and oil-dri. Some cursing got the hoses swapped and things cleaned up.

You just need to make sure your hose is "T-rated." Most acetylene hoses are "R-rated" or R-Grade, which can only be used with acetylene. Propane will degrade the rubber from the inside out. T-Grade hose can be used with pretty much anything, including propane and acetylene. Then you just need torch tips that are meant for propane. And that's pretty much it. The acetylene regulator will screw right onto a regular 20 lb propane grill tank.
