TOOLS, TOOLS AND MORE TOOLS (Mission Viejo)

"I am helping my dad sell his tools. He was a heavy equipment mechanic and diesel mechanic and has a lot of tools to get rid of. Too many to list, too many pictures to attach. I am open to reasonable offers and I can meet you to show all.

Tools are located in Mission Viejo.
"

This guy is shutting down a mechanic shop for large trucks. Not sure on prices but He wants it gone and prefers bundling. I see Easco & some old Snap-On wrenches. Helicoil kits

macgee spotted another one
Look at that box full of flap wheels! Maybe a lifetime supply right there in one box.
Buckets full of big wrenches... a gold mine for the right guy or somebody who wants to resell.
There is money to be made there.

Vintage SUN 500 Distributor machine - $550 (Potomac, MD)

Sun 500 Distributor testing machine includes the rare lower cabinet. Comes with user manual and repair manuals. Motor spins and strobe works, and condenser tester works. Vacuum, tachometer and dwell units do not work to the best of my knowledge. Very cool retro piece from the early to mid 1960's. A unit in similar shape without the lower cabinet sold on Ebay for 655.00

True, but how many of us have 3 phase power in their shops? I sure don't .

Shift, that DoAll is the shitz but it's huge, it's not exactly for a garage but instead for a shop.

You don't need three phase, you will only need 220v single phase. Look up " VFD " which converts it to three phase and will allow you to easily dial in feet per minute speed. All the cool kids are doing it now a days. The only thing that won't work is the built-in welder.

If it's working without needing parts and you need that size then it's an absolute steal.

The only reason it was posted was cause I don't have the space/power in my garage haha, but I know I've seen plenty of garages and shops on here that could utilize that machine.. We have one at work about that size and it's a beast..fwiw, we don't use the welder, could never get the blade to weld well, we just buy the correct size, they're more expensive than blade stock but last longer than when we weld blades

Cheers!

Sounds like a VFD is something I should check out. I have seen lots of machines at low prices because they are 3 phase which limits the market. But having electronic speed control would be pretty cool for a drill press.

Your exactly right, it's awesome for drill presses, mills, belt grinders and wood and metal lathes.

I completely agree, the welders are a complete pain with high failure rates in blades and it takes too much time wasted trying to make them right.

The DoAll looks awesome and its has a deeper throat then your average saw and for $500 thats a deal. Make sure the transmission works on it and the wheels and guideds are in good shape (those guides can set you back almost $500. I picked mine up for $1k and I considered it a deal of the year for me. Mine was an early 2000 model but I ended up converting the motor, contactor, and transformer to single phase 220. Motor set me back about $400 and the other parts I picked up used for another couple hundred so I was able to convert it for about $600. The VFD crossed my mind but I decided to go the other route instead. Either way if you have the room go for it. Ohh and mine weighted about 1200lbs so be prepared.

King-Sealy Craftsman bench top drill press & Johnson MDL B horizontal bandsaw, both for $160 (Burbank, CA).

Ok here's the deal. Today I went to a garage sale that was on craigslist that was canceled but I was able to go through this guys garage. He's selling the drill press and horizontal band saw for very little money. $6o for the drill press and $100 for the bandsaw. I had to pass on them as I don't need them but thought maybe one of my fellow GJ members might into it. They took the ad down but I have his name and phone number, PM me if you want his info. he's holding the two items for me in case I change my mind.

The ad is down but I know the items are still available.

The Johnson Model #B horizontal metal bandsaw has the hydraulic lowering mechanism which is gucci compared to the ones with springs. It's a really good deal. Was difficult to get a good pic as there was stuff all around it. Still has the coolant catch tray.

The Craftsman drill press has the middle gears for lower speeds and looks complete.

The garage was filled with soot from a fire next door. Both of them will probably need to be worked on from old grease and so on and cleaned up to get them working but their cheap and look complete. I hate to pass on them.

Big C-1 or C-0 Wilton Machinest Vice! - $150 (Hemet, CA)

The guy has been steadily dropping the price on this over the past two days. $150 is a good deal thats looks ready to go and has both pipe jaws and I would not be surprised if he takes a better offer. His phone number is on the ad, call him; it will sell today or tomorrow at that price. On eBay they typically sell for $250-$300 in this condition.

That tank gives me the willies. Riveted together so Lord knows how old it is and more importantly how thin the wall is. I doubt if anyone would be willing the hydro test the tank.

The pump maybe worth overhauling, IF parts are available or can be machined as it would make a very interesting looking compressor. The motor is also questionable IMHO.

lots Of people say these sanders are not too good, don't trac well, this and that,
I have one, circa the same age, works quite well.
Is that picture too big on a regular PC?
It was as you can see, uploaded from my phone.
That's a real good price too I think.
