Wow, look at you guys, with your lists and stuff.
Wish I was that organized. My DBE collection is getting big enough that I should think about making one to avoid buying duplicates.
Of course, the duplicates are turning up variations I would never noticed if I had a list to avoid buying duplicates...
Many MANY years ago, I used to keep a 3x5 card with a drawn grid in it, and was checking off on getting a "complete" set of sockets (any really good brand as that was what I started with from my dad's hodge podge of sockets).
I had the sizes across the top, the drive sizes & style (reg, deep impact...) and carried it for years while hitting the Fleamarket and the odd garage sale. I eventually updated it for brand codes and would look for upgrades.
These days if its a good brand and a good deal, I just buy it. Some upgrade my "daily users": and some just get "stocked" or placed where I use that size/tool a lot (applies to other tools as well) I've made up a second set of "road tools" since my DD is 30 yeas old and while I trust it, its still 30 years old and "stuff" happens... That set had those sizes and special types I know I need and is not focused on "having everything"
Some few brands/models I've gotten more serious about getting a "set" (Long C craftsman I started to go Proto for all daily use wrenches, and may still for SAE - I have a full set of SO metric wrenches now...)
So bottom line is I no longer carry a list of any description. If I fill in "holes" and make a set, fine. I'm generally not too obsessive about it. I HAVE completed a number of sets, and if I acquire extras, that's OK.
As to going yardsailing or even CL today; I got nuthin...
Having a bit of "withdrawal" here... I need to

I just can't think of anything else I'd rather look at than some great old tools!
