Personally I never cared for the flimsy baseplates on those Craftsman saws. I had a big one years ago my first and sold it to buy a Makita.

As an inexpensive alternative to buying an older used saw in unknown condition I would also suggest looking a factory recon like at CPO Maybe something like this Skil

You can also buy new for as low as $40 with Ryobi at HD

For light use, pretty much ANY circular saw will work.

The blade is ****. Buy a decent carbide tip blade. It will make all of the difference.

OK, well thanks guys, maybe I'll look for one closer then, or check out the Ryobi.

There is a Black & Decker on there for $10.00, but it's pretty far away too.
I have an old rockwell homeowner type, it's decent, got it for $5.00 at the flea market but the bearings are bad now. Don't think it's worth it to try to change them.
