Over the past month the PCA at my store has been inop. All search terms come back with no items found. You can access home depots website though. Same location has also pulled a few outlying department computers as well.

Just curious if anyone else had the same experience before.
Common issue around me. Only one store works in the district. When u try and change store numbers on the store that it does work on, it pulls up same thing. Hope this isn't a fix they are doing to keep us out. I've even restarted computers to see if that would fix it. No luck.

Not good news, but not as bad as finding out no additional discounts work on clearance items. They did work last year no problem.

The other day I bought a couple .03 items, and tried getting the 15% off from using a Menards bag, but the system kept saying no applicable items. So I waited to checkout and on the 2nd time I asked to have them see if the Veterans discount would apply, as I would have had my Dad come in to purchase, & they appeased me but that to resulted in no discount. :(

The only possible discount I might see working is if they choose only an individual item to discount, rather than doing a group discount.

Also sometimes there is one tucked away right by the sliding doors to the outdoor section

Found a computer there! Quiet area out of the way and low traffic. I was searching and taking screen shots to search for penny items across the store! LOL...

Only thing I could find was a 25lb box of 2-1/2" GREEN deck screws & a 5lb box of a different not-as-common length. I was hesitant to ask someone to pull them down from up high for me, I figured they would look up the number or scan it and see it was a penny so I didn't bother.

Anyone have experience with this? If you ask them to pull something down from the top do they just grab & give or do they scan it?

Some Penny Items I couldn't find, YMMV:

Those penny items in the PCAare usually floor models. True penny item skus don't come back in PCA searches. If the item was at .03 or .02 for 2-3 weeks and fell out of the system you'll just see it as "no items found" when you search for the sku. This also shows up when the search times out so I typically try to search 3-4 times to make sure it's really not found. Item will still scan as 1c at register and via the phones that associates carry.

Not always. I have found several items that were not floor models that came up in the PCA at 0.01 and can be found and bought. Usually the floor models are marked DISPLAY in the title. Try searching LED light fixtures and you will see something like DISPLAY LED 24" Light Bar

Well, like the Dewalt tap, it was just replaced by a newer model. On the previous page I got 3 x 1lb boxes of deck screws (that were listed at 1c in the system). And I found some more up high like I said that were listed. But yes I understand some things won't be found at all.

Our HD they are usually pretty on top of items (unfortunately), there is an end-isle for the clearanced out last-few things. Also in the lighting area there is a end-isle for lighting & low-voltage type clearanced stuff. Occasionally you can find items throughout the store yellow tagged on clearance with a decent markdown, but not often. Sometimes they have a table setup in the front too for items that are "manager's special" clearance things. Obviously this excludes seasonal items, those always go on clearance after their prime.

I do pay attention to the dates on the clearance tags and try to check to see if it's lower in the system but I haven't had any luck yet.

I *did* search for LED... OMG it came up with pages of Halloween stuff... all at 1c... LMAO

Lifetime Warrenty also because it's a kit...
are they just discontinuing the kit or everything in it? hard to warranty an item they dont make anymore
:dunno:

on another note. a buddy of mine went in on christmas eve to get a few last minute things and he said the manager was pushing around a buggy full of tools(penny items) and telling everyone merry christmas and letting people grab one thing from the buggy. he picked out a 200 something piece husky kit.

right on!

Probably just the kit, but even if it's the item they will replace it with a similar newer model if you ever do get Ridgid to warranty anything...

I learned Sears does similar with marking down stuff, in the last month it drops every week till it gets a penny item and gets pulled...

My store was out of those ratchet straps long ago. The sprayers never went on sale either which I thought was odd as someone else posted them too. That cleaner is still $9 at my store, hopefully it will drop this coming week, for $3 I'll grab a couple to clean my driveway with.

Today I did go and use the terminal in the appliance area since nobody seemed to be around. A couple employees walked by but didn't even look or care. So I guess they aren't too concerned as long as they don't need to use it. :)

Still no luck getting that big 25lb box of screws, or the case with 5lb boxes in it... But as long as they are up on the shelf there is always that chance... Just need one of those ladders to be close to that area and I'll grab them myself!

Yes they are! From looking at the system they are clearing out certain older model GREEN Deckmate screws. Green only, don't know why. Maybe they don't sell as well as the Yellow? There's a 25lb box of 2-1/2" I really want, and to a lesser extent a case with 5lb boxes of 3-1/2"... I already grabbed two 1lb boxes of 1-5/8" and one 1lb of 1-1/4" that were sitting in the back of the clearance shelves.

GRAB THEM, go check the model number on a computer and see what price they come up. They are probably going to be penny boxes!

the comp itself is probably sold separately for about $100. Not an amazing deal you get an ok nailer and ok hose for free, so it's not terrible if you will use all the pieces.

Pixi brand LED panel lights pennied out a while back at my HD. Found one hiding in plain sight in the rafters. 934223 2 ft x 1 ft.

Also, there are older Philips 60w LED 4 packs on deep sale. I think its last year model. The Soft White is 1.97, the Daylight is 2.97. The current model is 8.97 and 9.97 for the same. There is a 2pk of the Soft White for 1.97 as well. The difference is the older ones use 133 mA instead of 130 mA. SKU and UPC are different too, so just keep an eye out.

Some HDX ratchets also down. 4pk Blue 330 load/1000 break to 2.x3.

Hmmm... They end in .06 and were marked on 11/11... Maybe weight till 1/11 and see if they drop them even more with a price ending in .03? Might get another good percentage off.

Checked about a dozen stores and only one had the port-a-torch on clearance. No sign of the others.

For a fellow Mississippian,

http://www.garagejournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=295130

How long in Walnut Grove? Drove thru there a few times going to MSU back in the early 90's, not much there.

Thanks! It doesn't help I was searching Lowes for the deal lol. I been in Walnut Grove for almost 2 years now. I'm originally from north MS but with a daughter in Gulfport and a sickly mother in Corinth I needed something in between for the time being and this was close as I could get with my job.

The box they come in is nearly identical to that of the 280C2 that's at pretty much every store. The only major difference between them is the DCK281C2 has a red "Special Buy" sticker on it.

If you find a store that says they have some, locate where the DCK280C2's are in the overhead and then search in and around that stack for the red sticker. This is how I was able to find a bunch of them right after thanksgiving.

If a store does not let you 'ship to store', then it is on clearance.

most-likely will be on clearance. no guarantees in this line of shopping. And an item that should be clearanced, may not be priced right if they don't have correct inventory of it.

Went to my HD tonight, none of the Lincoln welders or torches were on sale, interesting that the poster way above was. I had to get some connectors and such, and of course scout to see if all those deck screws were still up on the shelves.

The big ladder was ONE ISLE OVER! But there was just no way to move it without being seen and questioned, there's ALWAYS a couple people sitting at the computers in the doors/windows, and there's always one person at the checkout area by the big door. Not to mention every isle I walked down associates kept asking if they could help me! LOL... This was about 6-7pm at night... Store was pretty empty, more people than I thought would be shopping.

Price checked numerous clearance items that have been there a while, none of the prices have changed even though some were tagged back in early October!

Driving home it finally hit me how to get those screws easy... They have those 3 or 4-step gorilla ladders on the end of the isle! I'll just grab one of those and put in my shopping cart. Then when nobody is looking, use ladder, grab screws, and I'm halfway there! Of course they aren't fools, they stuck that 25lb penny box under TWO other regular 25lb boxes. Next problem is the self-checkout people are always so attentive and want to help! Ugh... So it means I'll have to hang out in the lighting area until some old person goes there for them to help out. So now it's a timing thing, I want to go late with not too many people, but no so late that nobody else in the store.

My store shoved the last few items leftover from the BF sales up against the toolchests. Mostly overpriced flashlights and other stuff nobody wants (or they wouldn't still be there). They've already brought out all the sinks and such and set them up in the front. Time for spring refresh to update your home!
