I removed a mouse nest from the heater box in my mom's car (again). She said she smelled a burning smell every time she used the heater. That's because the nest was right up against the blower motor resistor, which gets very hot when operating. Very lucky it didn't start a fire.

Started working on a wall mounted coat rack I'm building for our entrance to the house. Cut, assembled, and 2 coats of stain so far. Will throw a 3rd coat on and some poly today, mount the hooks, and it should be done.

Yesterday afternoon I wired in a 50-amp/220VAC plug in the third bay of my garage just enough to plug in the air compressor and run my welders if needs be. I then built a 50amp to 30amp adapter so I could run my vertical bandsaw if I need to. This should be enough of a alternate plan until the shop is built.

I then hung one of my paper towel dispensers in the garage and arranged a few items in between blowing snow as it snowed all stinkin' day yesterday.

Bleed brakes & checked for leaks through the system as it's all new. Then mounted up the headers for the final time after test fitting/trimming. Also did the floor pans in POR 15, pretty productive afternoon in the garage.

You may want to put a heat shield between the header and the brake MC. Sitting in any kind of traffic can boil your brake fluid and damage the seals.

Looking good though!

Turned down some roller wheels for a 2x72" belt grinder...bought a used treadmill over the holidays for $30 that the boy hacked to pieces to pull the 3 hp DC motor and speed controller components.

Thats a wild set of headers. Do they eventually make their way towards the back or what?

They make their way just behind the front wheels but after some twists & turns

A big block in a A body is a tight fit. Those fender well headers are the only way to put exhaust in those A bodies. Unless you can find and want to pay for a set of factory big block, A body exhaust manifolds, but they are too restrictive.
A 67 Barracuda is my favorite A body!

Needed to bend a 90 degree angle in a piece of 3/8" solid stainless rod, so I made a press die for it... stuck a chunk of 1.25" square stock in the mill vise and used a 1/2" ball end mill to cut a V-shaped channel and a groove across it. Worked pretty good, shown here in use.

I am actually going to use a flexible DEI starter heat shield for it. Should work out good.

Big block A-body's are the only way to go!

Yep, the factory manifolds are $1000 a set. Since it's a true factory 383 car I was going to find the manifolds but I found out how restrictive they are & it would be counter productive to to heads & cam I'm running. I had the old 1 7/8" ****** fenderwell headers for a '69 440 Dart I have for my son. I was planning to find a 2" set for his car anyway.

Here is a pic of my brother's "DART". It started life as a 72 Scamp. The body is the same as a 70 Dart. He put a 70 Dart front clip on it. Cut in a sun roof, Made it a 4 speed. Built a stroker 440 502 CI with a 6 pack. New rear end, 72 Bench seat B body pistol grip shifter. AND factory A body big block exhaust manifolds. Why? Because he didn't want to cut out the inner fender panels. All that HP and factory manifolds. :headscrat

BUT it has so much HP you can't keep from burning rubber in all 4 gears. It drifts to the right going down the road while smoking the tires. A real fun car. Not original but real cool and fun. :3gears:

Awesome car, the 4 speed would be fun for sure with that set-up.

I upset a prius driver at the dump yesterday when I asked him if he would like a ride back to town so he could leave that piece of rubbish at the tip, he didn't laugh although everyone else who heard me did.
In the garage today was packing some boxes ready for my move and fixing my GSXR.

I wish I could add to this thread, but I can't. I have been to busy with everything else to even get close to the garage, with the exception of running in for some tools or a part for another job I am working on elsewhere. I haven't spent any quality time in the garage doing "garage things" in probably 3-4 months

Put out the winter mouse traps and already got one of the little buggers. If only mice had money, I could get rich selling them their drug of choice…..peanut butter.

Wait till they start licking that PB off without setting the trap. :headscrat

I had a retired millwright stop in for a visit, today. He instantly spotted the Snap-On toolbox I bought just before Christmas. He absolutely had to have the tool box because it is a match to the Snap-On roller case he has at home. I had no intention of selling my favorite toolbox. Until he started to lay out $100 bills then he added a bunch of $20s to the pile. I found my self helping him load the toolbox into his truck after we put the original Snap-On castors back on.
This sale will easily pay for the Mastercool 71500 crimper I bought from Amazon.ca last December.
Spent a few hours making dividers for my Companion tool caddy, then transferring a bunch of tools. The Companion got four new German Made casters so it is easier to move in tight spaces. The original wheels and casters are in a safe place for the time I get a really good offer for the Companion.

What is the difference between a winter mouse trap and a regular mouse trap?

I'd guess nothing. It's a simple matter of the mice are happy outside during the nice months. Once it starts getting cold, they attempt to move inside into your home or garage.

It doesn't matter how nice of a house you might think you have ....."upper class" in a "nice neighborhood", them little rodent bastards will find their way in.

Last Spring we had a call for a false trip on a detector of a residential home. A really nice home, probably $350-400K home (median is probably $75-80K) on a private street. As we were checking it out, including the attic, I politely pointed out to the homeowner, she want to get something looked at and showed her a ton of mouse turds.

Yep, they don't do cold. Some found their way into a hotel downtown, their kitchen and bar are closed until an exterminator gets done.

While waiting on some parts for the top end on my R80 BMW, I decided to go ahead and dive into some other maintenance tasks.

Was already here:

So, I decided to rebuild the carbs, do the transmission input spline lube, and clean and lube swing arm bearings, too:

Correct. In case there is actually any confusion on the matter I understood the winter mouse trap because I don't keep traps out in the attached garage in the summer. I never see any mice or any evidence of mice. When winter comes though they get inside wherever they can. I can leave traps out all summer and never catch a mouse. When it gets cold I'll catch several for a few weeks.
So when it gets cold it's time to set out the winter mouse traps :D
