... matco wire strippers, ...

Matco is rebadging those wire strippers? Weird. Fry's sells them for about $7 iirc.

They're great little strippers, don't get me wrong. Adjustable strip length, automatic sizing, you can even strip 3–4 wires at the same time.

I have one of those guys, only worse -- early / mid 20's guy - He ******* about money / not making enough when he was started out at the highest hourly rate than anyone in our shops history....I've watched him, since he started 8 months or so, on the tool truck buy at least 4k in tools for home projects / personal cars and he rarely buys the stuff I tell him he needs to do his job...I recently found out he has, from his previous job, the HIGHEST SO credit balance I have ever heard off (asked him if he set up a whole auto repair shop at home or what ?)....and I had to twist his arm to get him to buy a basic 12v test light for the work we do.....

This kid spent 20k on snap on, bought a 9k box off matco, and about 5k Iirc from Cornwell,
And still buys more, the kid is an idiot, I have made tools but he has to borrow them because he won't ruin his precious snap on that doesn't get used [emoji849]

We have the oppisite at my job,Guy about 24 inherited his dad's huge collection of tools,54 inch double bank snap on box 75th anniversary teal blue loaded with snap on,Mac,and craftsman from the 80s-90s that his dad acquired over 30 years of being an auto and truck mechanic.as soon as they moved him into the shop he brought the box over,he does mainly maintenance and demanded to get factory training with a dollar raise for every certification, something most of us don't even get.so he starts getting trained, going to classes, and getting certified.problem is now he gets a job he's certified for and got a raise for it,but needs help to diag or refuses to diag and passes it along after he wasted over an hour,or he gets the diag and then ***** foots around the repair and gets it dispatched to some one else because it's to hard,he's scared,or he hasn't done it before.he only does easy diags like swapping coils to find the misfire cause,or replace radio codes.

Really annoying when all of us have been doing this for years and have dumped countless thousands of dollars into our tools and training suffering financially at times.but no this kid just inherited his and throws a fit when we tell him why don't you buy it when he has to borrow tools.refuses to buy anything,I think all he's bought is a matco impact gun and caliper twist compressor tool.when I was his age I was doing all the **** work and had no choice,he'll I still don't have any choice.i made the same he's getting paid when I was his age but I all my money went to tools I needed and bills,no vacations, no toys,no nice trucks.but what does he do since he doesn't need to dump thousands into tools? Buys a diesel truck, camper ,and dirt bikes.must be nice.....

I can't stand people like that,
His parents pay for his 2012 Malibu along with rent free living and they buy all his food, he's engaged as well but had no idea what a 1$ bill means

I just ordered these 15" and 18" Matco socket rails and 1/2" socket studs last week. They showed up today with this Matco 1/2" ratchet. I ordered the ratchet so long ago that I forgot about it. Seriously, I totally forgot, to the point that I ordered a Snap On 1/2" ratchet last week. ****, now I'm going to have two really nice 1/2" ratchets. LOL,

This sweet little Snap On mini ratcheting screwdriver arrived today. Unfortunately missing the larger flat blade shank, but I scored the whole thing for a killer deal.

I've been looking for one of those as a set. I received one with the Philips as a GJSS gift set year and really like it. I'd love to get the full set of bits for it.

Those look pretty similar to my Ernst socket rails. Little bit different though so not quite the same. Love mine so I'm sure those will rock too.

My dad has the harbor freight ones and while they look the same, they are definitely not. The socket holders on the harbor freight are super loose sockets slide all over when moving them vs the other models which are generally stiffer and the socket attachments are a bit more in place. Also, the detents on the HF ones pop out super easily.

That is interesting, because I already had Craftsman grey and black socket rails, and just replaced them with these Matco socket rails. They look exactly the same except for color, but they do not work the same. I found it much more difficult to slide the socket studs on to the Matco socket rails than it had been to slide the socket studs on to the Craftsman socket rails. I figured it was because the Craftsman rails were used and the Matco rails were new, but there may be more to it than that. The studs and Matco rails clearly have closer tolerances.

Looks like you're building a good collection for yourself.

I'm in the same situation... I know what you mean. Still live close to my parents so I can easily borrow stuff, but it's nice to have your own stuff, too! So much to buy!

I just got this Skil circular saw for xmas:

Exactly. I'm about 20-25 minutes away, but usually when I realize I need it I don't want to take an hour out of my day to go get it! Now I just need to figure out what I want to build with all these new tools. lol

12 minutes from the parents and 6 minutes from the grandparents, my home tool collection is sparse due to these reasons lol

Picked up a set of external torx sockets so that I can change a bad wheel bearing/hub in my diesel Liberty - I only need the E14 but the solo socket from Lysle was like $5 on amazon while the set of 7 from E6 through E16 was only something like $11.50. Plus, made in the USA.

Also grabbed the Crescent 1/4" drive spinner. Taiwan, well made.

Forgot I had ordered the SK t-handle (more kidney handle really...) From eBay, but I quite like the feel of it. Made in France, strangely enough.

And picked up a couple of USA craftsman 12pt, 1/2" drive sockets to flesh out a set I made up of a couple of yard sale/flea market finds - all USA COO plomb, wright craftsman and SK, iirc.

This from Astro pneumatic. Man I love this thing!

I was just looking at this the other day. I used one very similar to this at a tire shop and really liked it.

Did you get the hex/torx sets from the seller on eBay?

FJ3000 from Costco. $160 Canadian, delivered. Couldn't find anything even close for the price in a semi-aluminium build. Hopefully it stands up. And if it doesn't, it's Costco :)
