Has anyone compared the Ironton (Northern Tool) version of the 4 drawer to the HF 4 drawer? It's currently on sale for $99 and I know the HF will be $99 on Friday. The dimensions are identical and it looks the same in pictures, but was hoping someone had physically looked at both.

Don't see it on the northern tool one but hf actually sells two versions. One has no holes in the cross brace for longer screwdrivers or extensions and some do. I bought one and was dissapointed as mine did not have holes as others had shown. Hf told me they have several manufacturers and one puts holes and one doesn't. Still not happy about it.

Pretty much the same. Should be able to use a $10 off $50 of $20 off $100 I think too on the Ironton one.

i was just saying that for the 50 dollar difference it might be worth looking into the red one. Was not trying to poo poo his post, but the red one is known to be a better quality. I am not saying the black one is bad, just thinner materials, but if it fits their needs go for it. Sorry was not trying to stir the pot or anything.

I went with the black one because it matched my full tool box and workbench drawers, both color and pulls. You know how OCD can be.

I bought two of the Black Carts about a year ago and I must have gotten the GOOD supplier as the drawers are perfect, the slides are great, and the suckers are HEAVY.

So I would buy a couple more if I had a place to use them right now.

Does anyone on here have this tray:

It's a magnetic tray from HF. $10-$15 depening on if it's on sale IIRC.
They're ok if you don't weigh it down. I use mine on the side of a metal shippers desk to hold glue and spray bottles. But if the bottles are too heavy, or if I put the bottle down too hard, the tray starts to slip or move.

A bolt-on might be better for rougher work, or in spots were it might get knocked.

I was going to hang the 7 drawer end cabinet on the right side of the 5 drawer cart then the folding tray on the left side. I'm looking at building a frame to support the whole mess. I will probably ditch the handle since this is my main tool storage. I have a single drawer service cart that I load up with the tools I need for the job at hand.

I was looking at the magnetic tray in the store & it felt sturdy. It has 3 descent sized magnets but can tell its for light weight use i.e. 2-3 screwdrivers/nut drivers & a couple of wrenches or a spray can

That's what I have seen suggested by many others here so it made it a no-brainer for myself. I have enough connections where it won't be a problem to get materials, borrow a welder, then see about having it powder coated to match.

You don't need a frame, the position of the wheels relative to the end of the side cabinet says that you would have to load the side cabinet with lead for the whole show to fall over. Mine has the side tray mounted on the side of the cabinet and the cabinet is quite heavily loaded and you have to put a lot of lift on the handle even to get the wheels off the ground.

Tonight, with the help of my teenage son, I got around to mounting it to my cart. This thing is a piece of metal art! I love it as much as the 5 drawer cart. The detents are super stout so I have no worries that the drawers will magically slide open.
I also took the time to finally mount the $20 flip-down side tray. Fairly sturdy enough to support a fair amount of tools. HF shows a laptop on it in their picture but I'm not so sure I would trust it with a $$$ piece of electronics. I'm sure it would support it tho.
Total length comes in at 64" with the tray. I'll make an attempt to get some pictures up in a day or 2.

The 7 drawer side cabinet is a bit heavier than the open cabinet in your picture.

The top has a rolled lip on both sides that allows the 7 drawer to hang on the edge of a tool cart or roller box. They included carriage bolts & nuts to fasten the side cabinet to the roller box thru the existing holes. The 5 drawer cart doesn't have the holes so you would have to drill your own if you were inclined to secure them together.

I'd really like to know more about that side cabinet. I like it. It looks like an excellent match but if it has drawers behind the door I assume it's not a HF US General. How many drawers does it have? Tell me more please!
