Based on my experience, some items will show up at a penny for hours to max a day before dropping off the system.

Here are some items that are voodoo, though not high value:

573-115 (16" Clay Chata Tilted Pot)
881-481 (Ceiling fan)
1001-804-435 (Exterior LED Wall Lantern)
790027000052 (SCI Cleaning Kit)
039083842764 (Pot)
039083842726 (Pot)
1001-045-434 (Pot)

I vaguely remember someone mentioning garage door openers. I'll need to do a lot of digging through the computer next time I'm there.

I've noticed stuff does drop out of the system eventually, but I did a search for something a couple weeks ago and it hit TONS of Halloween penny items! WTF? I dunno... Sometimes penny items will say a certain amount in stock, but usually zero (which like everyone else says don't trust it, you have to search the store).

I try to watch items too when they go to .02 or .03, sometimes I will buy them then if there's only one or two left because I know someone else will buy it. But if it's something random or don't need I'll let it sit.

My store doesn't seem to carry the inventory that some stores do, probably because it's a smaller town. I'm sure the other HD way down in Fayetteville has more stuff (and more clearance & penny items). But I'm not driving all the way there to find out.

Those magnetic bluetooth radio's were $19.88 today, I think there were 3 or 4 left sitting on a toolbox. Doubt they will go clearance.

They lowered the mailboxes at my store, I got a nice wall-mount metal one that I'm going to stick on my fence next to my garden to store my gardening tools in. They also had an Arrow electric stapler / brad nailer for like $7, figured for that price I couldn't miss. Anyone that has had to staple a bunch knows how tired your hand gets after a while.

They did lower the price of the other Husky speeder bar from like $9.** to $5.03... I probably won't remember to bring my receipt back to get a price-adjust, but since I recently got like over $300 retail worth of screws from them, I'll let it slide... lol

Found these the other day for $4.52/ea... Reportedly not the best quality from reviews, but for only around a dollar each I can't complain. I really like the oversized rubber handle.

I was looking for the other straps people have been posting but no such luck. The way I noticed these was most of the new items have "1000 *** ***" type numbering, but these were the older "*** ***" style so I entered it into my phone's home depot app and nothing came up, so I went to a computer and did the price check to find out the price.

Good thing I grabbed them too, it looks like they did some major reorganizing over the past couple days. I'm sure they would have disappeared if I didn't grab them when I did.

Tip for everyone. Google picks up the posts on this forum in searches. If you keep posting about items, they'll sell at the higher clearance prices and never drop to the actual deal prices. I'm not trying to offend anything, just offering friendly advise. Particularly with the straps, there have been nearly a dozen posts on them. If you keep posting about them, the google searchers will see the post, buy them and they'll sell at the current prices, not the real deal prices.

Just keep in mind that some of you are posting in a way that is shooting yourself in the foot. Less posting is often better.

Don't do a price reduction or return rebuy, etc. for $4. Some stores will not do a reduction, return rebuy on clearance items, others will. If people start doing it all the time, the stores will stop doing it. So do it for real savings, not $4, etc.

That has nothing to do with it... The computer system auto-lowers prices after a certain item has been on the shelf for so long (40 weeks I think). Likewise when one item is being replaced with a newer model they phase out the old one by clearancing it out. Finally, some stores just end up with a LOT of product for one reason or another (i.e. possible hurricane so they stock up on genrators & plywood), once that passes they will just clearance out surplus instead of shipping it back or to another store.

Most sale items people just see on the shelves and think that's a great deal and buy on a whim. I doubt a person is searching for the best price on ratchet straps, finds this thread, reads 10 pages, then goes to HD in hopes to find it.

Overall I get your idea, but I just goog'd "racthet straps deal" and in the first couple pages of results, the only GJ thread that pops up is one from May, specifically asking about a ratchet strap deal. Google is not the first places I shop for a singular item on sale.

Are you not potentially doing the "same thing" by posting here (forget google indexing)? I hope I can catch a few of the things I posted when they drop to .03 pricing, but there is a GREAT chance someone that doesn't follow this forum or searches online is going to buy them. They are advertised & priced to get rid of.

The best posters to the HD threads stopped posting because there are a ton of lurkers who look on here for the deals and don't post anything. Just keep in mind this isn't a small private club, it's an open forum that a ton of people are looking at, just look at the page views for the HD threads vs others.

the straps were just an example. Do what you want but posting like some post is why the best posters all left. The HD thread used to be very very good, they are mediocre now and that's being very generous.

The majority of the "deals" posted the past few weeks are not deals. Do what you want, I'm trying to help but I can't force you to do anything. So be it.

I totally get it (and prefer your rational if you can believe it), but what is the happy medium? Ya, the thread blows compared to last year. I saw mention of private threads, & I'd love to be invited (if they are real), but do you get invited if you don't post anything? I guess this thread should be called 'Fight Deal Club.'

The first rule of Fight Deal Club is: you do not talk about Fight Deal Club. The second rule of Fight Deal Club is: you DO NOT talk about Fight Deal Club! Third rule of Fight Deal Club: if someone yells “penny!”, goes broke, or stock is out, the deal is over. Fourth rule: only two guys to a fight (you & a MET person).

Not what he is saying. He is saying to actually look to see if a deal has been posted before posting it for the 100th time. People have no idea what this forum was like 2 or 3 years ago until somone posted it on SD... It went downhill soon thereafter. Wonder why a lot of us don't post a single deal on here anymore is because of entitlement attitudes of most new ppl in this forum. I'll stick with my other, non public, forums for posting my deals..

Good thing you're posting all these great deals here. Wait, who are you again and what have you contributed here in this HD thread?!

You guys are completely missing his point. Not even worth trying to make you guys see it...

I too will stick to my private forums where deals flock like the salmon of Capistrano. We talk about much more than stupid little $3 starps there...

Those are the camo 1.25"s I was talking about. I paid double what you did. I've used them a lot since purchasing, in the world of light duty homeowner ratchet straps these are excellent. The extra 1/4" width makes for a better strap & the ratcheting mechanisms on these are excellent.

I use my truck like a truck and tend to have something in the bed that requires ratchet straps 2-3 times per week. ATM these are my favorite except for being damn ugly

I think (know) that last pic is from Staples. On that item that you put your head on at night, I'm not so sure if that is a great deal (yet), as it is the same price as Amazon atm. Though I never saw the pillow in any of my HD's. I would have guessed that was taken in a MN HD, but obviously not.

Yeah I've noticed they moved a lot of the shelving & bins that were in the Christmas area to another part of the store. I expect them to go down in price soon at my store.

They've also been clearancing out a bunch of lighting, I don't know if it's new models, or just age... Some really nice one too, mostly kitchen / dining room lighting though.

These aren't stellar deals but a nice price drop. The travertine is not my cup of tea after I looked at it but the other is nice looking.

Haha. No kidding man. Every time I go to home depot I never find any of the good deals other people find, that's why I don't post any deals. The best and only one I found was a mailbox for $20, down from like $70 and I posted it here.

I was invited to one of those said private HD deal forum. I was going to join but decided it was not fair of me to be there since I am not as active as those voodoo pros. Plus I have a full time job and don't have much time dedicated to chasing voodoo. And the most important reason of all is I am trying to cut this voodoo chasing addiction.:dunno:

Makes me wonder what type of crazy dealz they are racking up in the private forum:headscrat

I dunno, I suppose in a larger town where you are within driving distance of several HD's one could really rake in some serious deals.

For some reason there are several Lowes around, but only one HD... Go figure.

I was checking some stuff today, nothing new to report. They were finally taking down the last little section of Christmas stuff getting it ready for spring I supposed.

I noticed they pulled out a bunch of the bug chemicals that were on clearance within the past couple days or so. If you still see any at your HD might want to check them.

System said there were several of those 2" HDX straps in inventory, but I went looking down a bunch of isles till my neck was sore and couldn't find them.

Bug chemicals or any sort of fertilizer they will get super cheap. Not allowed to throw those things away or donate them due to company policy. They would give them out to people back in the day just to get rid of them

You know, they might have moved them out into the other garden area, I didn't think to go out there and check. But yeah I've noticed fertilizer they keep dropping.

Cobra is regular price at my store. I guess that must be a previous model. My store they all start with 1000-***-***

Saw a lady at one of my local stores taking the walkie talkies out of the clearance area. Said she was taking some home for her brother or something so I assume they pennied or dropped out of the system...

Representatives of a chemical company went to all of the HD near me and didn't a reset of the outdoor chemical aisle, and typically ended up with a couple carts of products that yesterday were ~75% off.

We usually buy roundup in concentrate, so I passed on the weed killer (though tempted for $4.** with the battery wand attached), but got some Rose fertilizer for my neighbor

Porter cable compressor now 50.02 http://imgur.com/pOUjMec

Thanks for the post. I've been watching the compressor because I need one.

My local HD had 3. Last week they were sitting on the floor by a rack with other Porter Cable compressors on it. No clearance sign or any price tag at all, so I was hoping they would stay in stock until the next price drop.

Today I went in to the store and even though the computer still showed 3 in stock, they were nowhere to be seen. I crawled under the rack with the other PC compressors stacked on it and found that the 3 clearance compressors had been taken from the floor and stashed on the bottom of the very back of the rack, with 3-4 compressors in front and 2-3 on top.

Called an associate over to dig them out and when he finally arrived it seemed obvious to me that he was the one that had hidden them. He seemed annoyed and then asked me if they had dropped from $100 to $50. I wondering if he was waiting for them to penny out?

Private forum sounds very intriguing. I have 5 Home Depots that I can hit within a couple of days just during my lunch break. Usually spend a few minutes on the computers a few days a week. I've found some great deals and made some serious money doing all the legwork myself. I know the system better than most employees. Even had to teach a couple employees. Its gotten so bad, one of the MET members always ask if I need a basket when she sees me checking out the deals.

The only Home Depot I can get to has changed its computer system it seems. You can no longer go to the sore menu. Anyone else notice this?

Don't know if this has been posted or not.

Ridgid 5 gal compressor

I was looking for the PC compressor today. I couldn't get the pic to come up on my phone though so I was just looking up the item code for the ones I found around the store, all full price. Granted I didn't go digging the very back but they all looked like the same box.

I was looking at Garage Door openers, and noticed one was a different colored box, checked it and it was same price as others... :(

Where do they keep those hand-held scanners that employees walk around with? Man, if I could get one of those I you would hear "beep" "beep" "beep" "beep" "beep" going across the store till the batteries died... LMAO

I found a few packs if them in tool rental, then found a few cases of them on the end of an aisle

Man I just checked all the big packs of wire nuts in my store today, not even on sale... What caught my eye was I saw two different brands too (Gorilla on the shelves, Ideal on shelf above)!
