Man I just checked all the big packs of wire nuts in my store today, not even on sale... What caught my eye was I saw two different brands too (Gorilla on the shelves, Ideal on shelf above)!

Only the small boxes were clearanced. I was lucky to find them in my area at .03

Have to find some for lift driver who doesn't do his job and scan when he lowers something. Have 2 pallets of 4 of the fridge that is 48.02. They have then mislabeled with wrong sku so they will not be found. Only thing I can think of is walk around and look for a forklift driver that doesn't have a handheld

I had a guy use a forklift to get down 3 penny ceiling fans. We put them all in my cart, and he never scanned them once. If I had just bought one or two, he probably would have brought the remainder down and scanned one.

But if your item is not yet a penny, why are you worried ?

I was invited to one of those said private HD deal forum. I was going to join but decided it was not fair of me to be there since I am not as active as those voodoo pros. Plus I have a full time job and don't have much time dedicated to chasing voodoo. And the most important reason of all is I am trying to cut this voodoo chasing addiction.:dunno:

Makes me wonder what type of crazy dealz they are racking up in the private forum:headscrat

I guess the exclusive private forum teaches you how to look for the displays labeled "only a penny." My store has had screws, flooring cleats, stains and paints, as well as sprayers all displayed for sale at a penny.

I'm watching the Ridgid combo, it's been dropping fast lately and they have a dusty mountain of them.

It's been a month since you posted that photo. Have they not restocked it yet?

Find someone who doesn't care, has that look at least and I'd go Sunday at 7 or 8 pm or a friday night, etc. The later the easier going they tend to be. During the week they'll be the restocking people and care about the price not as much on the weekend or a friday night.

I had someone get down 11 wet dry vac's that pennied. He needed to use the man lift because they were not on a pallet and too high for a ladder. It looked like he scanned one after he got them all down then walked away and I said thank you for your help. This store sells pennies, another store near me would be tougher.

Hope it works out.

Went browsing around HD today since I was by there anyhow. No luck finding anything... Couldn't even find the porter cable compressor that's ~$50...

Those gorilla nuts show voodoo at my store, but I couldn't find any around.

There are some max-access / passthru ratchets and individual sockets sitting in a box with no home, even at clearance price buying them all individually would be way more than a normal priced set.

Seems they are busy in the store setting up for spring refresh. They were assembling the patio stuff where christmas was in the corner, outdoor getting the rows ready for plants. Re-doing the BBQ pits & grills...

I'm still kicking myself in the foot for not buying a huge jar of red wire nuts at a garage sale for like a couple bucks.

I wouldnt feel TOO bad, the only wire nuts I buy anymore are the Ideal WingNuts. TRULY dont need to pre-twist any wires when using them.

Better yet are the In-Sure connectors that you just push the wires into.

I'm old school, I always pre-twist my wires... lol. I've used those in-sure connectors in some florescent lights, but never bought any to use for other purposes.

Im not a pro, so any room I can save in a box is worth it. The In-Sures make that a lot easier and no worries about "cold" twists with the wire nut, which Ive also had a problem with (again, not a pro!)

Wago makes even nicer In-Sure type connectors but they are reusable. More expensive and not locally available, though.

OT: The Wago connectors are made in Germany. I recently purchased some on German eBay for cheaper due to the favorable exchange rate right now. Combine with one of the occasional $15 off $75 promos for a really great deal. I purchased a lifetime supply (for my usage) for $60. Much more expensive than single-use wire nuts, but far better connections and much less tedious for an amateur like myself.

Hi all! I have been perusing this forum for a few weeks now. I went to HD last week and lucked out. They had one Ridgid X4 combo kit according to the computer on clearance for $80. I couldn't find the one (even had a manager help me look) so he gave me the newer x5 combo (R9205) for the same price :)

I figured I would mention this, because some managers are more than happy to appease customers with deals and it doesn't hurt to ask!

A decent number of stores will give you $50 off a similar item if they can't find the one that you want and it's in their system as 'in stock'. It's a nice gesture but it won't get the price anywhere close to .03 or .02 pricing so most of the time I pass. If a box is beat up and it's the last one, you can get them to discount the price, the edge of a sheet of plywood damaged, they'll take off money, etc.

I think they will end up giving those wine sets away... lol... Nobody seemed to buy any.

Don't know if the lesco is any good, but for the price I can afford to put it down a couple times if I have to... lol

It's very possible that keeper strap is a penny. All of the ratchet strap deals are gone from the computer in my area

Is there a best day to check for mark downs?

Nope, it happens when it happens... I wouldn't make any trips that are out of your way, but if you happen to be close by and have time to kill it never hurts to do a walk around the clearance sections and a few keyword searches on the computer.
