How do you like that head lamp? I'm in the market for a good head lamp which will have double duty, camping, and general repair. I need a head lamp that has a red setting as its polite in camp sites to not have your brights showing.

So far I like it a lot as I am trying to get use to all it's settings. Red, bright, dim, lock, strobe...... The total hours are also very good, not to overlook the warranty. Also, the price I found varies depending on the color, go figure Here is a shot of the box!

Last time I did an exhaust job I had to fight and struggle with the rubber hangers, picked up the lisle hanger plier, did an exhaust today for my sister, makes removing so much easier.

I have the same one, and every time I go to use it, once a month maybe, I have to relearn how to use it. fortunately it all comes back to you pretty quickly.

Unless you only hang it on a wall somewhere, become familiar with the lock function. I cant even tell you how many times I go to use it and the batteries are dead because one button got bumped and it stayed on all night.

I have thatsame light...good light...if u have a Costco nearby they have 2 Coast 450 lumen headlamsp for $30. I use at aork and love em...they do eat up aaa batteries though but we get batteries free at work

I can only imagine that your OCD is driving you nuts on this one as it would be me too. That new SO green wrench rack is surely made by Ernst. Ernst makes a wrench rack to hold 16 wrenches but only in black or red and not in reverse orientation or in the gripper style. So deal with 2 wrenches out of the rack, hide 2 of the most uncommonly used sizes or seek a wrench rack to fit the whole set that won't match the others. Oh the humanity. It's kinda like this......

I'm almost at a loss for words right now (not really). I happened upon a fresh, local Craigslist ad last night. The ad showed the guys entire kitchen table and countertops plus 3 more tables set up in the kitchen covered with Snap-on & Blue Point tools. No prices. Said call to make appt. Had a local cell phone number so I text him last night and set up to see the stuff this morning. I was first there.

I was hoping his prices were good so I could pick up a few things. The prices were ridiculous. Before I even started picking stuff out I told him he had all of it priced at about 20-30% of what it could fetch. Even offered to help him sell some. He wasn't interested. He was selling for a lady friend whose husband had passed a year or two ago and she had been sitting on everything since. Her husband got a weekly visit from the SO man at home for years. They had priced everything to sell fast and she was happy with the total she would get once everything was sold. I bought maybe 5-10% of the Snap-on and paid shy of $300. The guys that came after me bought almost everything else for $2000.

To say I'm stoked is an understatement. I have some of this stuff already so I will post maybe half of this for sale on classified later. I'll definitely pass the saving on to some others here cuz I don't plan I dealing with Ebay on this. I would be happy to keep some of this and just make my $300 back.

BTW.....anyone close to AZ they are still selling a black KRL double bank top and bottom with orange trim for $3900. Never been in a shop. He also has a Snap-on compressor that is got to be at least 80 gallon. Looks like new. I think he said $900.

LMAO!, most of us have been there. When I finally got my 20mm I thought, no scratch that I knew I was over the edge on the OCD front since never in my life had I ever used one. Well for the first time ever last March I found out the new Chrysler Pacifica needs that size for the control arm bolt. It was cool being vindicated.

I remember absolutely tearing my hair out on a civic del sol exhaust job. My instructor walked up, sprayed a pinch of silicon lube on it and popped it off in about 0.5 seconds.

No tooling required! looks useful though

my mother got an insurance payout last month and over the past week she's been letting me use some to buy tools.

floor space is limited but i have a **** ton of bench space, so only a top chest for now. red case is a tekton impact socket set.

bought this 300 piece kobalt set before i even thought about this box. there's a few sockets not in the box yet, but not many. combo wrenches are in one of the wide drawers.

also got a bostitch 398 piece set. my justification for both sets is simple. for one, i dont always work alone. and second, if a tool breaks while i'm working, i know i'll have a spare on hand. plus, as you'll see, the bostitch set is (mostly) more portable. top drawer is all 6 point, bottom is 12 point "universal" (looks like spline if you ask me).

also got some power tools. kobalt 1/2" and 3/8" impact wrenches, 1/4" impact driver and a drill/driver.

in the top compartment pic you may have missed these, attached to the lid by magnets.

and a couple more, part of my edc.

last but least, impact lug nut socket set and finger ratchets. also got one of those massive harbor freight drill bit sets (not pictured, and mostly to figure out what sizes i should by quality versions of).

bonus content: my sister's husband has used me as a scapegoat for not doing some work on my sister's ford windstar. not any more.

Came home with this workbench/platform, I've wanted one for decades, never had an inside place to store one. Handy Air Lift, pneumatic actuation, you can run it off a pancake compressor, my back thanks me for this one!

A new one with the vise for the front wheel and side extensions , shipped, is $1800. In my shop, I'm trying it out for ultimate load capacity.

I've been slowly gathering fresh tools as money and opportunity permit. At age 63, I want to own a workable, matching set of tools, rather than the hodgepodge I've been getting by with for years. First up is two sets of GearWrench 6 pt socket sets. I bought the 3/8th's set, and the 1/4" set was a an add-on- $107 for all. The plastic cases are pretty nice (I generally hate plastic boxes) time will tell if they'll hold up. The ratchets feel butter smooth compared to my clunky old Craftsman.



Now I have to decide if I should spring for the 1/2" drive set as well. I'm tempted. I also bought some decent screwdrivers. My old Craftsman ones are pretty beat up, so I bought a set of Williams. I also bought the screwdriver rack, and a couple wrench racks (at work). I like them, and they help this old slob keep organized.



I bought a set of Craftsman Industrial USA made combination wrenches in metric. I also ordered SAE, but they were no longer available. I decided instead to shop ebay to fill out my missing S-K SAE set. They're not 'new', but new to me, and I love the nostalgia of having my beloved old S-K wrenches. I bought the original set over 40 years ago!



Not new, but new to me is this Wilton 1760 Tradesman vise I got at work yesterday- free! They were cleaning up, and I asked for and got a steel table. They threw in the vise! It's funny at work; they'll throw stuff out, or give it away, or sell it to a scrap dealer, but they won't sell stuff to employees. Of course, free is a good price. The vise is in excellent condition; I started cleaning it up a bit. Looks like it wasn't used much, considering it is dated 1989. Even the original paint is pretty good, under the shop funk.

Dad wanted to get me something useful for my birthday, so I said I was seriously lacking in the at home vice department. I wanted a 6" pivoting base vice, as where I park the truck is along side the bench, so I need to be able to get it out of the way of the truck doors.

Dad got me a 6" vise, from our local little hardware store, but we wound up returning it since it was covered in rust on the main screw and inside of the jaws. Canadian Tire had this 5 1/2" guy for 40% off, around $78 out the door. For the price point, I am very happy with it. It will be a good multi-use home vise.

Still keeping my eye out for a bullet style. Have seen one on kijiji this past year, and he wanted more than new price. One day...
