Vises: do you have a 9 inch wide jaw old US made vise? or what is your BIGGEST VISE?

is that a Parker 958 holding your old growth beam? i love how wide my 956 opened up and i think it might have even held a board that size too.

thanks for sharing the FRENCH vise. just curious if you have a reasonable method of shipping to or from Europe?

Amazing work Kevin! It's good to see that big ole girl get some TLC.

Does anyone know if the three holes in the jaws on this C1 are original or did someone decide to drill an extra hole? The middle hole looks like it's just a stud and not a screw.

Also, the date code on the bottom is pretty worn. Any guesses what year it would be? Could it be 1964, 1984 or later?

I do not. I look and look but don't have one in my life. I believe the items or things you are supposed to have will find you at some point. So if I'm intended to have one then one day it will happen.

Yes to the 958. It's a UPRR vise. Stamped in several places. A nice treasure! I use it everyday.


Generally speaking shipping across the pond is quite a pain. Lots of paper work etc. I'm lucky in that I have a friend who goes 3 or 4 times per year to buy for his antique store so he allows me to put items in his containers. Otherwise it would be questionable if I would do it or not.

WRENCH: great picture and swivel jaw big vises to boot!!

49's: looks like its a 1964 cause you have the big pins holding the jaws in. my guess is the middle hole is original. hard to see is the stud missing or there and you were just wondering about the 3rd hole?

i like those C1's better than the new ones.

Vises: thanks for the 411 about shipping and your searching for the BIG UNS. Ain't the HUNT most of the FUN?

Man this thread is moving too fast lately for me to keep up.

4Nines, the center is supposed to be there and it's just for a stud.

Pretty sure 64 being that its dual pin.

The nut design on your French vise Vises looks just like a Paramo's nut. The paramo was built pretty heavy vise for a 6".

Ok, here's a pic of a vise that someone sent me today. I've never seen this one before. The dynamic slide is the exact size of a 2x4, the jaws appear to be 5 or 6 inches. Anyone seen this one before? :headscrat

Im sort of near dayton. About 120 miles. That guy has been tryin to sell that parker for a very long time. I think i spoke to him 8 months ago and i think theres something wrong with the spindle retainer. There was something else wrong as well but cant remember what. Looks like the lockdown is missing as well

Any reason why the jaws don't look like they line up?

It does appear the jaw alignment is off but im wondering if thats just the picture fooling us? I dont see any welds but its hard to tell since the pic is kinda crappy. Its not worth $20 to me for a 120mi drive, and too many other unknown defects in the vise unless i desperatly needed parker vise parts.

It's 6 30 1964, looking at my database Wilton used the month-day-year code from 1954 to 1967, for 1968 they reverted back to the month-year code.

The stud is there so that's good news! I had quickly looked on Kevin's website for new jaws and I didn't see any with the hole for the stud so I thought I might have gotten a modified vise. Thanks for the info!
