Harness for walking. With his reg collar he kept choking himself this makes it so nice he made it around the block with no issues (just got it)

Ryan B.

Ryan,

Sooner, my avatar kept pulling and pulling when he was a little one like your beautiful Lab. He'd pull til he coughed like he was choking. A pro trainer recommended I put a choke chain on him - the RIGHT WAY - so it releases when you let off. Contrary to what the name "choke chain" conjures up, it is only a quick hard jerk that surprises them and you immeditalately release.

Dogs are so smart - and particularly dogs like Labs - that they realize the surprise comes any time they pull so they stop pulling. NEVER keep steady pressure on them when wearing a choke chain and in my opinion, NEVER use on of those chokers with the prongs on them - cruel. I literally had to do it 3x in the space of about 5-10 minutes and he never pulled again. It sounds cruel but it isn't. Having a choke chain on them and holding steady pressure on them is cruel to me. I walked him with the choke chain and he wore a conventional collar otherwise. That way he knew i could surprise him and would never pull on a walk. I cant say how much i miss my beautiful boy. Love tht little guy because the are with us such a short time.

Interesting bit of information there. I'd probably just go with a broad collar like Ryan's over another style, but they both work.

Please post your dog pics!!

Since i was a child, i was always raised with a dog in the house. I cant remember one time our family was without a dog. Well here recently our shiba inu passed away. The heartache that goes on after one of our dogs passes away is heartwrenching and weve decided not to get another dog because of this.

We recently had a new neighbor move in next door and she has a huge white fluffy dog. It looks like a Great Pyrenees or a white retriever of some kind. The neighbor always lets her run around outside and the dog comes and leaves big dumps in our yard which believe it or not makes me very happy. When the neighbor aint looking i let her dog inside our house where she runs around and we feed her turkey, marrow snacks, and dog bones. We then secretly let her run back outside. So our neighbors dog has made life alot better for us since we no longer have a dog of our own. Lets see your doggy pics! I will try to get a pic of our neighbors dog next time shes running around :)

This is Hunter flying through the air, he is this worked up because I had just got home from work. He kept running back and forth leaping on the bed while I changed and after the 2nd time I grabbed the camera and took this pic. This picture always brings a smile to my face. And that is patches between his legs.

I've got a ton photos of them together. I rescued Mary when she was 9yrs old. Records indicate she raised 28 pups before she was allowed to retire. Fencetop showed up early one morning all alone when she was just a little kitten. Mary rescued Fencetop.

This is Abbie, not really a garage dog but likes to visit me when I'm working there. She will stay with me if the garage door is shut. Not afraid of tool noise. We rescued her 5 years ago.

My best garage dog was Jacque (think "Jock" with a french accent). He was (has passed on since pix was taken) one of several American Eskimo dogs that I've had and was the only one that would come and lay in the garage and watch me work. In this pix he's saying "Hi" to my brother-in-law who's been working on a Ford Taurus transmission and doesn't want to pet him -- for obvious reasons.

Beautiful dog!

Those Tauruses had crappy transmissions. :) It put a lot of food on our table, though. My dad had a ****** shop.

I posted my other one a while back (chocolate lab). Which is just about excited to go to the garage as she is hunting. In a couple weeks (Feb 16th) I'll be adding this girl to the household. She's a American Red Golden Retriever.

These are my two furkids, The younger Toller is Kip and the dear old girl Corgi X is Bonnie, I think I have posted elsewhere about Bon. She was and is my one true love dog, some of us are fortunate enough to have shared life with a truly special being, Bonnie was that for me. Even nearly reaching fourteen years her life was too short. Her passing also gave my ex an out of our relationship:sad:

We brought Kip home when Bon was 5 years old and seeming older. It took her a few weeks to let him into her world as she had been a very spoilt only child. Once she had accepted him, they were just like a big sister and little brother, she would protect him and boss him around and try to lead him into trouble.

Kip is a Nova Scotia duck tolling retriever nearly 9 years old with a lovely nature, he is now my boy, nearly lost him in the settlement. I try to take him everywhere as he is missing the girls too. He is a chick magnet but he hasn't come good for his wingman yet (me) There is still time but..

The pic with the Ferrari was taken while I was at work at night when testing a new McDonald's sign we had installed across the road from the Ferrari dealer earlier in the day. The boss said it was ok to bring him in and he ended up leading Kip around while I did the electrical. A good deal for me and Kip.

I hope to see more Tollers on here, c'mon post 'em up.

He's got a sweet face that looks like he's thinking, "Ok, ok, I'll do it because YOU want me to but WTF, man?!":lol_hitti

Well.... I made the hat for his 3rd B-Day, he is a German Shorthaired Pointer, very high energy. My wife and daughters said he would eat it, but with a little bribery in my other hand, we did take the pic. He is the most loyal dog I have ever had, an 80 # lap dog, he will run with you all day long.

Looking good, the Weimaraner is somewhat a cousin to the German Shorthaired Pointer.

Anyone want to take a guess what breed she is? In these pictures she's 5 months old. Her name is Charlie. If someone can correctly guess her breed in the next 12 hours I will send the first person a prize. If not I will reveal her breed then.

previous shop dog....Sunny the Golden. passed away in June.... :(

New shop dog......Vin Scully = wild lab puppy!

Scully is getting a little procedure today (nutectomy). Maybe getting fixed will calm him down a bit.

Thank you. Yes, he's a registered lab with a pretty nice pedigree that will hopefully make a fine hunting dog one day... Growing up quickly already.

cute puppy. Want another one.....they might be twins....
ours look just about identical.....
mine doesn't have quite the pedigree....he was a rescue that came with over 300 tiny little ticks on him. Vet said that was a new record. My wife spent many many hours with tweezers helping this little guy out. He's a high speed, high motor nut job....24/7. whew! Hopefully yours is a bit more under control.
