havent posted any pics of Blitz since we got him.

he's our 2nd rescue sheperd/mix.

he's still growing and filling out, he was 65lbs when we got him, he's closing in on 80lbs now. i think he's just a couple years old, he plays like a puppy.

he's starting to be a little more protective when he's outside the house, he lets us know when there are strangers around now.

Our dog liked to spend time in the shop, with me. The only time I sent her outside was when welding was going on. Sadly this gentle dog left us when she was 13.5 years old, almost 2 years ago. My significant other and I have decided to not get another dog until later.

That is a fine looking dog sir. Can you share a few more pics? I can tell he likes to pose!!
I sure miss my Shepard.

Sure thing! I have TONS of pictures lol. Here are some of him as a puppy and now.

He loves giant sticks (aka big tree branches) and the snow. He's completely spoiled, and loves the camera.

Beautiful dog.
I'd give mine a leg bone from the butcher and I wouldn't hear a peep from him for a whole day or so. He liked sticks and balls too. And water, we don't get snow.
Thanks for additional pics.
Best to you.

Our pure breed yellow lab stayed in a crate when we weren't home or in bed till she was one or one and half cant quite remember. She ate everything, once a a pair of socks that almost killed her and ruined her stomach for good, once she climbed up on the counter and took a nice big bite out of a cake my mother was taking to a baby shower in ten minutes :lol_hitti She also ate about a million other things over the years. Stopped almost completely once she was three, now she is 10 and has the best personality. Trust me they are well worth the puppy stage as hellish as it can be, as they are some of the best dogs out there

Shedfullatools - The story about the cake reminds me of my 40th birthday (only a couple years ago lol). I got home from work and my wife was making me a cake. I went out to mow the lawn and after a while my wife comes out and goes next door. She comes back after a few minutes with something she borrowed from the neighbor. About 10 seconds later she comes charging out the front door with the look that only a wife can give. She is frantically waving for me to come inside. I leave the mower running and go running in the house. There is Boomer licking his lips with cream cheese frosting all over his face. He ate the whole center out of the cake. No cake for dad. She surprised me with a 40th birthday party the following Sat. and Boomer was there, we just didn't let him near the cake.

Gracie - 4 month old Newfoundland currently about 65lb's. She chew's on everything, but for some reason is particularly fond of pieces of fiberglass insulation!! I'm constantly shooing her from the garage I'm building or taking pieces of insulation from her mouth - I've even caught her pulling some from the wall where I'm installing it.

She loves it out there and comes out all the time to pester me.

How were your guys labs as pups? My Mozzie is 6 months old (75lbs) pure bread English lab. He chews EVERYTHING! Stick, rocks, plastic toys, Sheetrock walls, wood molding, rubber floor mats, grease, everything.

Is this normal lab behavior and when will it stop?

I had a different experience than everyone else who has posted about Labs so far. Sooner chewed EVERYTHING too, but it stopped completely after he turned two years old. Buy the big hard rubber King type toys and every time they chew something wrong, take it away from them and give them what you want them to chew. They are VERY smart and will learn if you're patient and consistent.

He chewed the baseboard I'd custom milled (because I have an older house and couldnt find matching after I'd made some changes). He chewed EVERY sprinkler head off in the backyard after I made the mistake of installing a new system with plastic heads. Replaced with brass, that fixed it, etc. If he brushed the leaf off a plant and it moved? He'd show it to the ground.

The thing with Labs is that even though they are physically full grown at about 1 year old, they are not emotionally full grown til 2 or 2-1/2. The need LOTS and LOTS and LOTS of exercise. They are NOT a dog to be left alone or to sleep outside. They NEED their people. If you aren't going to do these things you shouldn't have one. And NEVER EVER hit them.

My "water dog" hates a bath. Nothing like fighting with a 100 pounds plus getting him in my high apron tub. I wish he remembered how good he feels afterwards. I love when it's not winter and I can hook a hose to my tankless water heater set to 100 degrees and run a hose out the window. It's much easier making him get up on the picnic table to bathe.

Thanks! Yeah, he loves his raw hides and leg bones. He also loves water, except when it's bath time. He hates bath time, but has no problem jumping into other bodies of water. Makes no sense to me.

OH well I have my three amigos. The liver and white is a Springer mix with Lab named Rocky and he is 15 years old and the black and white is a pure bred springer and he is 12 years old, the last one is a Llasha-Apso and he is 4 years old and his name is Bo. These guys add live to house and garage dogs they are not much into more of being companions to the wife and entertainment.

Neither are shop dogs, the little gray one is a rescue that pretty much only trusts me and my wife. Whenever I take her to the shop she just wants to be next to me and any loud noises scares her. Pretty much negates trying to do anything in the shop.
Shown here with my son's Black Lab that only wants to be friends with everyone.
The little dog, Lady, evidently has a Napoleon complex.
We do have a male Westie that I would consider a shop dog, he flushed a big a$$ rat out of the shop. Found out later all of the damage that damn thing did. Don't have a pic of the Westie, I'll see about getting one and posting. When he comes in he starts at one point and sniffs all the way around the shop. If he gets finished and wants out without pulling a bunch of stuff out of the shelves I know that there are no critters in the shop.

Found a pic of the Westie, and a pic of what I found that the rat tucked away in a air cleaner housing several months after getting rid of the rat.
That was one huge rat. I have no idea where he got the dog treats and the Taco Bell hot sauce. There were quite a few empty hot sauce packets. Maybe he migrated from the Mexican border up to Arkansas.

LOL Because sometimes I watch my mothers dog, Lasey, when they vacation. At the end when she leaves I taunt my dog by repeating, "Cooper misses his gir-l-friend" over and over.

Hold my frisbee, watch this!

Mine would never say that. LOL

Speaking of frisbees...I've tried several and the Hyper Pet for $4 is the best so far. It flies straight and you can make it fly straight and fast or you can really make it loft and hang up in the air. It has really lasted too. The TSC one flies well but as you can see it is too thin. The blue one is total junk and I've allowed it to be used for tugging with other dogs. (it was at least a 99 cent clearance one) The Kong is OK but was still $12 even at TSC. It is heavy and you have to make it fly too fast just to keep it in the air.

Middle pic, he's like, "wtf are you doing with my frisbee collection?"

This is Piper, she usually isn't allowed in the garage since she's still a pup and won't stay still. She slipped in one day when the back door was open, pick a spot and relaxed while I dinked around.

This is Cooper.
I got him free off of a FB Pet Page. I have had him about 3 months now.
His original owners were very young and had twins coming, living with Granny, they had to let him go.
He just turned 3 and is a very good boy.
He likes face-licking, tennis balls, tug of war and riding in my truck.:rocker:

Well, he wags his tail, greets me at the door when I come home, and plays fetch, so he *thinks* he's a dog, anyway...

I love this thread!

My brown clown, Dulcinea. Four years old today! Carmen is her yellow friend in the back, she'll be four in a few weeks. de693cf8ba0ec749fc6f848cf2c5d1b5.jpg68e2b69a486490f5a533d25b70c4bab8.jpg
