Ok who just bought it? That is absolutely incredibly infuriating to me!
Im talking about the Pittsburgh vise catalog!
...
Lord have mercy. But anyways. Congratulations to you! Now may I please purchase a full color copy or two of it?!?!?

Rockford 73, here are some photos of the swivel lock parts from my Columbian 206. Yours should be similar, but smaller. My threads are 3/4-10!

The lock is a forged part, with a marking of an H in a hexigon. The head has two lugs to mate with the serrations in the outer race of the base, and one small one to engage the inner race of the base. All the mating surfaces of the lock are tapered. It is a pretty sophisicated part.

Perhaps someone with a 204 can help.

I had a few minutes to carefully clean up the baby I bought yesterday and it's even better than I thought. The paint is still on the jaws where they meet the jaw towers....wow. The slide is stamped 12-3-66.

It's okay to put a vise on the nightstand so you see it when you first wake up, and then move it to your desk so you can see it while you're typing, right?

Question for the visexperts - this wilton was on cl in my area and now its gone - sold I'm sure but I'm wondering if it was a good deal - Wilton #8 has 6"jaws and swivel base looks old - a crappy picture I know, but the ad was asking for 350 ? I am looking at getting another Wilton which is supposed to be new but from the one picture of it I see looks to have raised (embossed ) logo - don't the newer ones have stickers ? - thanks , maybe that was more than one question. Oh and are new 800N and 600N Wilton's really almost 3k and 1.1k ? That comes up when googling new Wilton vise. Thanks again.

You didn't miss much on that 1st generation 600S. It only took Wilton a few years and they were light years ahead in design. The only thing that vise had going was its condition for its age which was most assuredly made in the early 40's. I had one and it took so long to sell locally I tossed it. It was a stationary however. Figure it this way, you will get just as much jaw surface with today's Wilton 450S and you would have with that old 600. Good you lost out.

I haven't started to clean up the 9450SJ, but took some better pics of it. The previous owner was a gunsmith, and had soft jaws in this. It has sawdust all over it, and this guy made gunstocks, so I suspect this was his primary vise for holding the stocks while he filed and sanded on them.

The paint is a bit faded and thin in spots, but that's it...no major dings, weld spatter, file, marks etc. I can't imagine restoring this one at all....it's fine the way it is. I'll carefully clean up the sawdust and oil/grease and call it good. The slide is marked 1/75.

I have seen many pics of baby Wiltons, that one looks in great shape. Do the baby Wiltons have a model number? I see on this pic it has Chicago and what looks like a 320; is that a model number? Or the 20 on the label?

I've seen them listed as "820" "920" and "20" depending on a couple of things. Mine appears to have "920" cast into the side, and the label says "No. 20" so I guess it's sort of a tossup.

Yes they do cost that much. In case you didn't know, Wilton bullets are made of pure gold.[/QUOTE]

FYI anyone considering a 8" wilton bullet might want to wait till zoomie and i get together this week. i'm offering him a used 1 thats almost ready to put on ebay. he's gonna finish it up and handle shipping. i believe 100% of the selling price is going to the "shaving the head fund". please be patient for photos and listing. but be impatient in winning, bid often for a important cause.

Speaking of Wilton 600s.....the Wilton Magnet strikes again! Just got home with this. The slide is stamped 1/73 and it needs nothing other than a quick strip and paint, some lube on the screw, and a new bench so it can go back to work.

It popped up on the local CL and I was lucky enough to see it when it was just a few minutes old. I went to look at it and had a really nice chat with the owner. The vise was part of his father-in-law's estate and nobody in the family thought anybody would want this old vise. Little did they know, right? I'm planning to do a nice cleanup/cosmetic restoration, and I'll write a post about it on my blog.

Thanks to Charlie Kuderick for buying a great vise in 1973. It's going to go back to work for another 40+ years, I'm sure.

I don't know if t. his is the correct place to post this, but IDK where else to post this. If it’s wrong excuse me as I have not been on this forum that long. Anyone have any idea what brand /make vise this is all I know is it weighs about 60 pounds it has a 6" wide jaw and its blue similar to ridged f series. No marks but the 6 in the triangle. Any help will be greatly appreciated. Also the flat screw lever for the swivel is similar to an old record vise I remember seeing. Again thanks in advance for any help.

Finished stripping and cleaning this Morgan 140

Anyone know if a swivel lock from a 130 will fit the 140? I can't imagine they'd be very different..

BH: looks like an import like the others have said and other than missing a handle is looks like a user if you don't have to pay more than $30 for it until you find something better if you need a vise. otherwise i'd pass and spend a bit more for a nicer one that has all it's parts.

Wrench: very generous of you to donate a $1000 vise to Zoomie and nice of Zoomie to pay shipping to raise money for his cause. i hope it sells for a ton!!

GMAN: your Wilton Magnet borders on ridiculous so congrats on another great find and even though i like swivelers i like the bigger Wiltons to be non swilvelers. thanks for posting the memorial to the previous owner and hope he's smiling as he reads it.

RG: if you want to post a few pictures of your new (old) REED 3c when you are ready i for one wouldn't mind one bit.

Once again, I am sorry to interrupt the vise madness, but I am compelled to thank some members for their extreme generosity, I REALLY hope I don't forget anyone, I think I sent you all a personal thank you, but I think you also deserve public recognition.

Thanks to the all the replies, they are asking north of 200 dollars, I have a ridged f-45 German made vise that's my go to right now. This vise seems to have a similar paint color. This one caught my eye because it's suppose to be old, & still has original wood crate,(no markings there either) however every quality vise, I've ever been in contact with proudly displayed there country of origin.

Thanks for asking, I'm glad everyone encouraged me to stop, drop and roll on over to buy it before it got scooped up on Craigs.!!

RG: I noticed that you posted the REED 3C you just picked up and thanks for taking the time to post up some pictures. again nice find and thanks for listening to a bunch of strangers and getting a very nice vise for your workbench.

that Parker looks pretty nice too, but it's not a REED C series. it's a keeper though and best of luck on the next few finds.

Ton: i don't think the 130's swivel fits a Morgan 140, but that's just my guess.

We will see about that $1000 Wilton - haven't even put eyes on it yet although I do have plans to. Thanks for the reply tho Auto I'm glad it wasn't a deal not to miss. I did get a great score I think on this one tho - Arthur J O'Leary post 6" 70lbs - cleaned it up a bit, was thinking Id keep it and use but in reality I'm no blacksmith and it would be better off in a more deserved home.
