I had to go into the store, as I wanted to use a store credit that can't be used online. They had one regular 1-gal with no spray bottle on the shelf for $13.**. Above that section were 7 jugs of the clearance, though online said 6 (are you in W. MI?). I ended up grabbing 5, as it is half worth it for the spray bottle alone.

The girl that got the cleaner down, asked if i wanted trash bags too. I said how cheap? They were Hefty flex w/ a good smell (?) 13-gal 40 count trash bags for 50%, down to $3.99. Cheapest elsewhere in my quick search was Walmart @ $7.49

Showed 18 in stock at Harper Woods. Didn't trust online so went up there.

Found 4 of the new ones without the spray bottle for $13 something. They dragged me all over the store before I got them to give me those without bottles for the same price.

Still good for my parts washer! Thanks!

Bill

The website lists it as an SAE set, but when you search that part # it shows it is an SAE and metric set.

I have 2 coming so we will see.

Just to confirm what I suspected, mine showed up today and it is an SAE and Metric set.

Only think I don't like is the plastic selector, is there a metal one in any of the rebuild kits for Craftsman or Armstrong that will go in it?

Were they USA made like the website says?

The packaging is labeled USA and the ratchet is marked USA. The extension and sockets have no COO markings, I am assuming they are US.

Look again. I got 4 today. Opened one up and just like the pic on Lowes site the extension has USA on it. The sockets do also, it's vertical, next to Kobalt.

Link pulls up all gloves...some on sale?

Yeah, I checked the box for what's available at my store, there are quite a few that are 75% off! But you have to click on the item itself to see if it's actually at your store, for some reason some said not available but shipping is available.

So I ended up getting the $407 one (originally $679) for $271.60. The benefits of shopping gas water heaters in a town without much gas I suppose.

Nice, 12yr warranty too... I would be surprised if it lasts 10...

Thing is, I'm moving out of a place with a 20 year old water heater that works terrific. New place has a 7 year old one that already needs replaced. Is this just the current state of water heaters?

Yes... Parents old water heater lasted forever. Replaced it a while back and it lasted maybe 5... They just don't make them like they used to... I'm guessing thinner metal for increased efficiency and lower costs... and controls made in a 3rd world country...

If the water heater fails before the warranty period call the company. They will give you a replacement number. Take the number and water heater back to Lowe's and they will give you the replacement free. Lowes gets full credit from the manufacturer but you have to have the reference number.

but you're stuck cleaning up 40 gallons of water, rust, and whatever used to be your floor in most of those cases.

I just replaced a 28-year-old water heater. It still worked perfectly, but I didn't want to push my luck and have 40 gallons of hot water ruin my new utility room. I put the old water heater on the curb and someone took it within hours lol.

At my last house the water heater only lasted 5 years before leaking.

Funny coincidence when I opened this thread earlier while at Lowes and I see your receipt... and I'm at THAT lowes. Howdy neighbor!

We were picking through some of the clearance plants and winter stuffs- nothing great though.

Haha that's awesome. Howdy! I was actually in the store again this afternoon for some moving boxes. Only thing I saw that seemed to be a decent deal were the true temper shovels for like $4, but I have a glut of shovels currently, and am not a big fan of the handles they had.

If it lasts too long they won't be able to make money selling new ones.

Now they build in a life expectancy into appliances just so they know you'll be back. They time it to break just outside the extended warranty time frame.

Usually not, water heaters rarely fail catastrophically. They normally start to leak a little, and you can see a little trickle to the drain.

If it is installed to code, there has to be a drain nearby anyway, and the pressure relief has to be piped to the drain, so it's really not an issue.

If you are really concerned, you can get a "pan" to sit them in that will contain the water.

That's not code around here. 90% of houses have no floor drain, because the septic outlet is 4ft above the basement floor.

On another note, Scotts SNAP spreaders were on sale for $2.62 at my store. Some of the bags were a dollar or 2 off, but the insect killer was only $1.62.

I have been renti..........(I mean paying my landlords mortgage), for 10 years. ...
The water heater I have here, is one of the ones you rent off the electric co.
I hope this never lets go Big time, cause all my tools are in the 2 rooms.
If it starts to leak, He will have to have one put in, as I thought I had a problem with this one, and called the number. They said this one (according to the serial #) was listed as abandoned!???
well, I didn't know my landlord too well at the time, Not wanting to get him in trouble, (Not that I "want to" now) told him what they said, He got all smart, and jack up with me, "F&(% them" those SOB's, if they think Im gonna Pay for that water -heater, Bla Bla Bla, all mean and nasty, going on and on.
I said, "Hey, I was just giving you a heads up", "so you don't get into any issues"
Since then,, I have realized what a jerk he is. Well this is a whole other topic, different department.
Should I start a "Slum-lord Thread?
Anyways, Point is, It's going on 11 years, with that water heater.
Like I said, if it does leak, hope is is slowly.

Woman I moved in with to the area, Of course, she had owned this nice little house.
So, being a man, with a "Man Card" I start doing all the maintenance.
Fixed the furnace, fixed the dryer, (It had just lost a power leg, old panel, with two separate 30 amp fuses, one had blown) Garage door opener chain, got too lose, jumped the sprockets, Got all out of timing, Installed wiring and switch, so you didn't have to turn on the switch in the extension cord to Light the laundry area, put an extra outlet in the den. Things like this.
I said, "we need to drain the water heater every year"
What for, "Mom never did it"?
I didn't want to argue with her, I said "whatever" (we were on the out as it was)
So we broke up, about a year later, I called her from work, asking about a tool I couldn't find, if she saw it....., how are things going?
OMG, I just had to re do the basement, The hot water heater blew, and flooded the basement.
How do you like that????? wonder why?
It of course may have blown if we had drained it, but still.
on that Note, I was thinking of changing the androde, (Sp?) in the Electric CO one I have here, But the nut or what ever on top looks pretty questionable, so I thought best not to create problems.

You were close on the spelling. "Anode" is what you were looking for.
