---But I think I might be getting there. How narsty are the teeth on the jaws? I'm leaning that its an engraver's vise with the ball mount, but not with aggressive teeth...
Looks sort of portable also, with the "clip" mount...
Just went out and checked my rock island. 851 dual swivel, 3.5"
Curved logo, replaceable jaws, and a "3 52" date stamp on the top of the slide

I'm quite certain it does but now you have me questioning myself. I'll have to double check tomorrow.
Do yours all day "Bellows Dallas Texas"?

I know this vise hasn't created much interest here but I post this for when another Athol 514 is found. I found the patent for my Athol 514 1/2 Quick release vise. Turns out this was Laroy Starret's last patent prior to his death. It is from 1922.
For some reason the patents pics dont load but they are in the link below.

I had seen some pictures old American QR vises, Athol IIRC, you would lift the dynamic to open or close as needed, never noticed them having a lever.
That's how my Athol QR is, just lift it up.
Pictures?

In its usually spot on my bench where it's used daily. My go to vise.
Don't have a picture of the stamp, but it's on the top of the slide, and just barely behind the static casting with the jaws all the way closed
Simply says "3 52"
The very top left corner of the picture is the back of the slide of my big vise in the shop

My Wilton.

Welcome to the vise thread, nice Wilton; is it one of the 75th anniversary models?
I got something today, "I" have never seen before...![]()
