you would have used a piece of metal on the aramature as well. the unit came with the piece but it got lost and everyone used an old hacksaw blade...........and it isn't before my time:spit:

andy, my purpose for the growler will be for rebuiling generators and starters on older harley-davidsons. if the armatures are good they can be rebuilt for $50 in parts. replacements are imported and can run $200, besides they are supposed to have genuine delco-remy units not ching-shang's.
